Hello, I need help putting my Convair Millenia back together. I opened up the back, took out the aspen filter and cleaned it by dipping it in water and let it air dry. Now when I try to close the back the filter pushes against the fan which ends up scraping against the fan housing. Any suggestions? For now I'm keeping the back closed with duct tape which isn't ideal. Thanks!

Can you use the fan only, without water?
Turn fan switch on, turn cooling switch to off. All evaporative coolers have that ability.

There is a spare plug contained inside the unit beside the fan shroud when the back panel is taken off.

How do I clean the millennia .. Do j take the back panel off . If so how?
Hello Denise, Depending on your millennia model, there are two ways of opening the rear cover to clean the insides. If your model has 2 blue tabs then you would press down on these to loosen the back cover. If your model has two screws then you would undo these Phillips head screws to loosen the back cover. Once the cover is loose, simply pull back on it and lift it up. This should remove the back cover. I recommend you dip the aspen pad into water and let it air dry, and use a sponge to clean the water compartment of the cooler. To clean the water compartment I simply pour 2 L of clean water into it, give it a scrub to remove any residues and pull out the water plug to drain the cleaning water. Then you reverse all the above steps to put it back together. I hope this helps.

Unplug first or the back won't come off! Also, watch those blue tabs - mine have sharp edges around them & I have a gash in my thumb to prove it.

You have to keep filling the water tank - uses fairly quickly but it makes room much more bearable on hot day.
