Excellent Product… Just love it!!! – Love love love my CookWell glass convection oven! I’ve had mine for over 12 years (purchased from the then ‘Homeart’ stores.) I use it all the time for all our roasts, have cooked cakes and it is perfect for veges of all kinds. I now use it in our caravan and it’s been fantastic! Highly recommend it for fast, even cooking. Halogen Tube blown – Any idea where I can get another Halogen replacement Tube for my Cookwell Turbo Oven, I'm lost without this appliance, I bought mine from Homeart 10 years ago and love it Show details
Love our 11yr old Cookwell halogen convection – Bought ours from homeart 11 years ago and have cooked pork lamb and beef with veggies to perfection. Still have it and when our daughter's kmart variation bought 4 years ago blew up we used our cookwell to finish cooking everything. Would be very sad if we couldn't find another one new if anything happened to this one. Show details
A Simple and Effective Oven Substitute – This is identical to the Home&Co brand sold by K Mart for $45. A far more effective and power saving tool than a regular oven. It varies, but will cook anything you usually cook in a standard oven about 30% faster and I estimate a power saving of greater than 50%. This is mainly because it heats a much smaller area and the heat is circulated.… Read more
Ideal for flats and if you need an oven for traveling.
I've cooked roast chook and legs of lamb with roast veggies, heated large quiches and cooked perfect pork belly and crackling.
Super easy to clean as it is just a "pyrex" bowl.
The Cons are:
1. the halogen heating "lights" will eventually die and are not replaceable (a shame) - still at this price - so what?
2. some might find the fan a bit loud, I don't.
3. no cooking in pans or bowls as it defeats the purpose of a convection system
Almost new Cookwell Halogen Oven – I have only used it twice and for some reason it is now tripping my power off i need to reset the fuse outside when I turn it on. I cannot see any obvious reasons.. I have used these for years and never had this problem before. Any advice would be greatfully appreciated.. Show details
Bought one, and then bought 3 more for friends and family – For small cooking jobs, such as toasting muffins or doing fish fingers, this is the only option I think about. Not the best for big roasts or so, but to whip up a quick meal the speed and easy cleaning of these glass ovens are unmatched. After trying one for six months, I've ended up getting one for my mum, for my wife's mum, and for my wife's… Read more
friend. They are all using them every day.
The only issue is that the timing mechanism isn't completely robust. After using it a thousand times or so it starts to get untrustworthy so you have to check that the oven doesn't go past the set time. The alternative is the complex digital control systems on some similar ovens, but they lose the simplicity of twist a dial and walk away that is part of the attraction of this. A digital system that requires pushing little buttons to set is not appropriate for an 80 year old woman, regardless of what the 23 year old designer thinks.
A waste of money – I purchased my CookWell Halogen Convection Oven from Homeart for around $80. I was just starting to get used to it when the Halogen globe blew up sending shrapnel all over my roast pork. I only used this product half a dozen times. I called the Homeart/CookWell 1300 728 811 number from the warranty card but their number has been disconnected. I… Read more
was determined to repair my halogen oven so I disassembled the top of the unit and searched appliance stores for the correct replacement halogen globe. I couldn't find anything even close. Even if I did find the correct globe I would have had to cut and solder wires to reconnect it. Way too bothering. I decided to give up and throw it into the rubbish bin. I kept the glass bowl, I suppose I can use it as a dog bowl, if I ever get a dog.
I am very disappointed in the longevity of this product. I will be staying well clear of CookWell and Homeart products in the future. A total waste of money.
Had 2 cook well halogen ovens and both broke down – 1st one bulb blew after 1 month 2nd one the thermostate has broken after 9 months so we are looking for an alternative brand.
Love it – We travel around in our caravan and I thought I would buy one of these ovens (as I don't have an oven in the van). They are brilliant for roasts - chicken on top rack, vegies on bottom rack, potato bakes, garlic bread, quiches, the only thing I haven't tried yet is cakes. So easy to clean, as there is only the two of us I also use it at home to… Read more · 12
save on electricity, I paid $79.95 for ours but I believe they have come down in price. I was told though not to use the oven out in the open air as the halogen globe won't last as long as it should. The only negative comment I have is the oven temperature details written on the lid are starting to come off so I have to be very careful when I wipe over the lid. Well worth the money. Inexpensive, energy efficient, excellent for camping
This makes cooking so much easier – Cooks roasts to perfection. Able to watch food cooking without having to open it. Have cooked cakes, chicken , roast vegies, filo pastry dishes. Bought it for caravan but have cooked in it every night since we got home. My husband is very impressed with it, as I'm cooking something different every night instead of the usual after work barbie.
