Bought second Hand, yet works great – Got this cheap, second hand just a few weeks ago. The temperature around here at noon in Feb. is 33degrees Celsius (91F) on the average. It doesn't chill up the room like a split aircon, probably because I've not been able to seal up all the air inlets in the windows, and also maybe because this product is now over 10 years old. Yet, this little… Read more

thing keeps the room really cool. It sends cool breeze all over. I could be sitting fully dressed and not break a sweat. I recommend this to anyone not looking to freeze up their room, but would like some cool fresh breeze. And yeah, it's a little noisy, but I sleep through it just fine. Just like white noise.

Great little unit for a normal sized bedroom – I love it! It keeps my room cool so I can sleep in these hot, humid qld nights!! I would recommend it to anyone looking for something cheap for a small room, don't be foolish and buy a small air con for a large space then complain about it! Cheers

Good for the price – The unit cools the space (8x8 besel block garage with south facing roller door) effectively. Even on quite hot days the temperature stays bearable. For some people noise would be an issue, but I have no problem with 'white noise'. For what this unit cost (about $270, and no instillation costs) I'm quite happy. I'm sure the unit would be more… Read more

effective if the air inlet could be vented to outside the structure to prevent the unit sucking warm air into the space.

TOO COLD – this little gem is the best. we get 45 plus here in far north sa and this machine is keeping us cold. we actually have to turn it to fan as there is no thermostat my hands sticking out of the blankets will start to go numb with cold I'm not kidding! 30 plus days and the fan by itself seems to still blow very cool air best $100 we ever spent (second hand)

Effective cooling on a hot day – This portable air conditioning unit is simple to use. It has four settings: (a) high speed fan; (b) low speed fan; (c) high cooling; and (d) low cooling. So far only the low cooling option is used because this produces enough cool air for my room. I don't feel a difference between high and low cooling. The product comes with an adjustable window… Read more

kit to exhaust hot air.

The unit produces 11 degrees Celsius of air at a distance of one centimetre from the outlet. At the time of writing this review, the outside temperature is some 37 degrees Celsius. The unit has been running for three hours, in a 20 square metre room (with the door closed, 2.28 square metre tinted windows (of up to 70 per cent outside heat rejection)), and the room temperature currently is 25 degrees Celsius. This result will vary because the room temperature before the unit was turned on is a variable. In plain English: it may take longer or shorter to cool your room than what I reported here.

Discomfort was experienced if the unit continued operating overnight. The continuation of cool air resulted in the room temperature being too low. Disuse of the unit also resulted in discomfort because the room temperature gradually increased overnight (it was reported the night temperature was 30 degrees Celsius). If one wishes to have a constant, comfortable room temperature, it is inadvisable to purchase this product. I advise one to seek a unit with climate control functionality.

The operational noise is high compared to a split or ducted indoor air conditioning unit. I know this comparison is unfair because the equipment is different (for example, a portable air conditioner to a portable air conditioner is a fair comparison). But for the sake of argument, I emphasise the operational noise. The split or ducted outdoor unit (which produce most noise) is outside the dwelling; hence, its operational noise is heard minimally inside the dwelling. The portable air conditioners themselves are in one package and therefore their operational noise is in the room. I was unaccustomed to the operational noise at first; however, I now have no issues at sleeping. I do put a second pillow over my head, however.

Maintenance is simple. The dust filter is easy to slide out to clean. After every operation, the unit’s tank is emptied by placing a towel underneath the drainage port and then tilting the unit to drain the water. I believe the amount of water depends on the humidity in your room.

The limited functionality of this product is justified by the pricing. Other portable air conditioners with additional functions (for example, climate control, dehumidification or reverse cycle) can cost up to $1000. I believe this unit is most suitable to those who wish to cool their room on a hot day (it's better than nothing) and care not for advanced controls or a whisper quiet operation.

Update in January 2014: During an "extreme" heat wave where the day temperature is a maximum 43 degrees Celsius for a week and turning on the unit when I got home from work, this unit took longer than usual to cool my room. It took over 5 hours to cool my room. Inexpensive, a fine product in its own right Limited instructions, company brand not well known (no website)

Great! No complaints here! – Bought this a few months ago. Love it. Has just helped me through an extreme heatwave, and did a great job. After the 4th 40 degree PLUS day in a row, the coolness wasn't quite as noticeable, but that's because EVERYTHING was hot. Even drinks in my fridge weren't seeming cold enough. I have no complaints about this product. really cold air… Read more

coming from it, and on hot nights, I direct it to blow straight on me, and it gets quite cold and I have to turn it down. Walk out of the room it's running in, go outside, then come back into room and you will notice that it IS infact much cooler in there. ANY air con struggles in heatwaves!! We have another one coming in the next few days, but I'm not stressed about it as I used to be, as I have this little 'robot looking bloke' to help me through it :) Affordable, does what it claims to, and get quite cold when blowing straight on you It's kind of awkward with teh massive hose you need to attach to a window outlet, but meh, who cares.

Serious cooling for the price, although there's barely any controls – It's the simplest air conditioner you can get. There's no remote control, not even temperature adjustment, and the fan speed barely differs from high to low. You'll only get raw cooling power, but it works well for the price. The blower is strong, and at cooling (high) the air coming out of it feels very cold. My room's area is about 35 square… Read more

meters and it still managed to cool it down. If it's too cold, I can reduce it to cooling (low), which seem to reduce the cooling power by some amount.

In terms of noise, wind noise becomes noticeable due to the strong blower, regardless of fan speed. In fact, the compressor's noise was also very noticeable at first, but then I placed a pillow to cover the right-half (Warning: don't cover more than this) of the rear air intake, which blocks only about a third of the abundant air intake areas but managed to silence the compressor almost completely while maintaining cooling performance. Regardless, the noise levels don't even come anywhere close to a typical vacuum cleaner, and unless you need whisper-quiet operation, you probably won't mind the wind noise, especially once you notice how good the blower really is. simple, good cooling performance, good value noticeable wind noise, no temperature controls

Hopeless – Don't work at all waste of money. Very cheesed off. Not happy. Have not finished complaining. If I can find the company I will let them know how useless it is. They have ripped me off blind. I can't believe it don't work heat wave temp and I'm cooking. It never is good even on cool nights. DON'T BUY ONE Nothing To loud. Blows hot air.

Low end product – Quality is low, expect lots of VOC coming out when running. loud. not very effective cooling in hot summer. If looking for cheap solution, worth it. If looking for quality and effective cooling, move on, get a $800+ unit. Its that price for a reason. entry unit for portable air con, dont feel like a serious product. Cheap, light weight, easy to use VOC, not effective, loud, cheap quality feel,
