Solved The Deck Belt Problem – Started out as a domestic user - took on a commercial mowing business. My Cub Cadet 54 inch has always run well except for throwing the cutting deck belt. Finally a mechanic suggested the pulleys were not in line (three blade model). Found the tensioning pulley was 1/4" out of alignment. Fixed by machining off the 1/4" and adding a 1/4" block to… Read more
allow the locating bolt to still screw in to the original position. Problem solved - no more throwing the belt and can engage the PTO in any height setting,
Love the Cub Cadet it has become my favourite peice of machinery in the garage – I purchased on of these after a long period of debating whether to get another John Deere, the Cub or the Toro in the end I decided on the Cub which I am glad as I haven't turned back the price was in my budget, another John Deere was over my budget and to be honest I couldn't tell much difference in the machines with quality. This machine is… Read more
great I mow around 1.5acres of reasonable land, slight undulating parts and mainly flat ground it is great, gives a great cut too. I owned a John Deere previous and I must say the Cub is just as good if not better. Priced competitively and reasonable and cuts well Does need to be well maintained but what machine doesn't. It is designed for lawns/yards that are not rough I wouldn't recommend this machine if you are not someone that uses and abuses your machines or have really rough land. Does use belts but so did the John Deere but on the plus side they are cheaper.
wish I did not buy it – I purchased this machine in April this year. The first 10 hours the motor was replaced as a result of a blown transmission. Finally, I received the machine back with a knew motor, a further 9 hours and again more trouble this time the piston, thank god for warranties. This machine has completed a total of 19 hours and I have used a total of 2… Read more
litres of fuel on established lawn. This machine is a waste of time and money including the dealer, The Big Mower in the top end Darwin. BUyer be aware. beer holder, is comfortable to sit on and cuts well the agent who sells and the machine is crap
great – i have a 1554 was doubtful that it would be too big for what i wanted replaced a husky 42" cut boy is this thing great i thought the husky was good but this thing does everything the husky did and more better turning and cut is mch better as the deck is out past the track great for trees great
1554 heaps of power – Love the machine. Run a three bag catcher with high lift blades the only bad piont is a spindle cost $195 from local dealer and they wear out to Quick. Have heard steering is heavy in cubcadets but mine is realy light. large cut and a powerfull motor spindles wear out to quick
Bad – Wish I had bought 2 Murrays for the same money. Have had Murrays in the past they last much longer Wide 54" cut Stearing is hard to turn, spindles wear out fast even keeping them greased. Bushings on stearing colum and on front wheels wear out fast. Deck clogs easy. Long roller on back of deck squeaks so loud is louder than the 27 hp engine. deck… Read more
want stay level because the adjustment screw want stay tight, it will fall out so get an extra. You have to lap over your last run in order to get a good cut.
