If you had told me 6 months ago that I would spend $8 on a toothbrush I'd have laughed. But then I did and it was a great decision. A few years ago my dentist advised me to use a soft-bristled toothbrush (hard and medium bristles damage gums which leads to receding gums and other issues). Trying to find a toothbrush with genuinely soft bristles was harder than expected and I think I've tried every brand sold in shops, including the more expensive, supposedly better brands like Sensodyne. Some are better than others but in all cases the bristles splayed after very little use. Splayed bristles can also cause micro-damage to the gums. After some online searching I saw the Curaprox toothbrushes and bought the 5460 ultrasoft. And they are lovely soft bristles, slightly shorter than regular ones, I think, and more of them. Am really happy and the bristles only started splaying after 3 months or so. So big outlay but better quality, value and performance. This is the first unsolicited review I've ever written. I definitely recommend you try this product.

Follow-up  · No problem with grip (no tongue scraper). The handle is standard adult length and is fine. Reach is as good as any other toothbrush. I know it seems like a big outlay - I'm due to re-purchase and I'm still debating with myself about 'making do' with something cheaper even though I know how superior these brushes are, particularly for gum care. In the end I think the idea of keeping my teeth for as long as possible will persuade me to buy again. I do wish there was some shopping around to be done, but I haven't found any great variation in price. If anyone has found a brand that has the same qualities as these but at a lower price I would love to hear from you :)
