Dashmate DSH-1200

absolute rubbish – This is the worst dashcam ever!!! First off, the camera doesn’t record loop, after the memory card is full the camera simply stops recording, with a prompt showing up on screen to "format memory card", which would wipe out all the previously stored footages. It has a mind of its own. Missing hours of footage in between recordings. Some of the videos don't have speed and coordination watermark. Very convenient if you are trying to dispute a speeding ticket. In-built Wifi worked for a short period of time when I first got it. But downloading a standard footage to my iPhone took hours. It’s basically nonfunctional. Then the wifi stopped working, and since then I had no luck to get it back to working. None of the alerts, speed zone, red light camera, ect, you name it. None of them works, the unit stays totally silent. Video quality is a joke, if you call this 4K, plama tv would be 8k quality. Night version is nonexistent. To top it off, the whole unit is very bulky and as a result the suction cup is unable to hold its weight and the unit constantly falls off. As a self-proclaimed 4K dashcam it fails at its main job, which is to record good quality footages continuously. Take your money elsewhere, don’t make the same mistake as I did.

Disappointed with Wi-Fi Transfer – Bought the Dashmate 1200 a couple of weeks ago. The unit, with GPS module, is bulky. And on my sloping windscreen I could not hide it behind the rear vision mirror so it takes up a lot of visual space on the windscreen now. Set up is via unit push button and is barely adequate – while a phone app is available it does not allow set up via the app – do not know why.

On screen play back, delete etc – I could not figure how to make this work.

Key reason for buying was the phone app and wi-fi to phone – me thinking I can down load files, send to my cloud storage or share etc without removing / replacing the micro SD card each time. Access to files via wi-fi and phone playback is adequate BUT download to phone for later transfer is just a very serious bad joke. I have a Galaxy S9+ and to download a standard 3 minute clip – almost impossible in terms of time. My auto power cut of on the car comes into play – to get a file down I have to keep the engine running to ensure power. Have raised with the company who advised it could be my mobile data activation and recommended I disable this function on my phone – I did – no difference.

As expected removal of the Micro SD card (very fiddly) and playback via computer works.

My view – bitterly disappointed. Had I appreciated how clunky the setup is with the little buttons, clunky phone app and just how appallingly slow any download is I would not have bought.

$200 mostly wasted – currently looking for another GPS.

From my expereince I cannot recommend if you require use via wi-fi / phone app for ease of file transfer sharing etc

Non of the alerts is working – I got the DSH-1200 cam yesterday, ticking all the boxes from the alert setting, but non of them showing, it works just like a basic dash cam without any special functions. It also took too long to connect to the cam with my phone. Very disappointed!
