De-Solv-it Questions & Answers

I bought this a while ago but just used it this afternoon to clean kitchen cabinet doors. I had read the reviews and the smell was suppose to be a pleasant citrusy smell. I don't know where that comes from because it's the stinkiest stuff I've EVER used. It's more of a gasoline mixed with something and the stink just won't go away! Anyone have any idea how long after using before the smell disappears? It's been over 4 hours and I gag every time I walk into the kitchen.

I'm an artist. I've heard citrus solvents are good for cleaning oil paints off brushes. Is this true? Would it hurt the bristles?
