Misleading company, charges you to pay bills in full before they offer pay in 4 – They don't actually provide the service they advertise. I created an account ages ago but never used it. to upload my first bill before adding a payment method. Umm that's exactly what I was doing......

Contacted customer support, they asked for pictures of the back and front of my driver licence. Sent that through and then got a message saying something along the lines of "congratulations, you have been approved for an account, but to unlock the pay in 4 feature I have to make 3 or 4 full bill payments via deferit"

Why on earth would I pay a full bill through a 3rd party app? Especially when they charge fees for paying the bill on your behalf. Like it's absolutely ludicrous. If I could pay the bill in full why the hell would I be going to a company that advertises "Get the flexibility to pay bills your way and pay over time in 4 easy instalments. Always interest free. No late fees." Not once does it say on their front page that you have to make 4 full payments first.

Pretty misleading and poor way to do business. Told them to delete my account and I was told that I can't reactivate for 12 months hahahahaha yeah that's absolutely no issue because I won't be using a service that charges me to pay bills on my behalf, I'm quite capable of using the payment details on my bill to pay bills in full, it's actually pretty insulting.

Only positive is that [Name Removed] who was assisting me was very kind and quick at responding to my questions, my advice [Name Removed], go find a better company to work for :)

Great for when vehicle registration is due – Can't speak highly enough the company. I had an issue with a current account to be paid and the staff were excellent. Helped solve my issue and our email exchange was fast and friendly.. Fees - well who actually likes them? For the convenience I'm happy to pay.. Show reply

Affects your credit rating – I use deferit I like it and it works well but 2 things you need to know they do a hard credit check which stays on your file for 5 years and I have noticed that if you pay a bill on the 2nd that they still try to charge you 5.99 saying it's still the first of the month but it is very useful to have as an option I will add a photo of one but the other says the first even it's the second day of the month. Show reply

Happy after a shaky start – I decided to give Deferit a try with a small bill. The app is supposed to read the bill you upload to determine the bill. Mine was a Telstra bill where the amount owing was in large text. The App read the small GST amount and charged that amount plus the $5.99 monthly fee. I received a message to say my credit had been deactivated and to email customer service to have the issue investigated.

There was a bit of miscommunication back and forth but eventually all was explained and corrected.

When I first started to use the deferit app, I used it for everything. Lol. It has some good perks, like credit building or reporting payments. But also if you get behind, or miss an installment payment, you can reach out for help.Deferit works with you on getting payments extended. Show reply

 Follow-up  · Deferit other perks are increase in the amount you are able to use for bills, such as $250 to $400. The payments are super easy, they range from 20$ up, depending on your bill amount. Extending payments is easy to do, by login and change due/payment dates on your account. There are no late fees, just a monthly membership. It's a good way to pay your bills.

Awful customer service - No real-time customer service. They don't value you one bit – Terrible customer service - Absolutely horrendous UNABLE to talk to a human in real time. Took weeks to resolve a simple account issue. They claim to have online chat but it says they are offline and sends an email. Yes it was business hours. form they make you fill out. Back and forward waiting days at a time. A simple phone call or even the online chat could resolve the issue in minutes.

Don’t waste your time with them as they cleary don’t care about their customers with the nonsense I’ve had to deal with.

Had another query about a bill that was due next day – Still trying to get it resolved by simply being able to have someone to help!!! Bill is now overdue because there is absolutely no real-time customer service. If something goes wrong you WILL NOT be able to get it resolved in under a week. Go to someone who values there customers.

you add a new card - one time is acceptable, 5 times is plain frustrating and stupidly excessive.

I have had mostly positive experiences using their app. Although I have decided to cease using their services after a second rise to their monthly fee since July where it has gone up to $9.99 starting next month. This would be fine, but they also add on fees for the bills they pay. For example I have 3 bills uploaded one is $710 which is costing $721.48 to repay, another $453.62 with a repayment of $461.24, and another bill of $140.00 with a total repayment $142.92. That's a total of $21.97 in fees, plus their account keeping fee of $10 - to essentially provide a 42 day credit account on $1303 worth of credit. Which really in the scheme of things isn't a lot, roughly 2.5% however, this flies in the face of their spiel about hating to charge fees and then saying how they don't charge interest. The bottom line is they do, they just disguise and word it differently. At the end of the day it is simply cheaper & more convenient to put it on my credit card and utilise the interest free period. I originally started using it because I preferred to see where these start ups were going rather than support the banks, but I feel a lot of people have trapped themselves into these services with money they can't afford to repay and these companies are now capitalising on that.

painfully long phone call on hold, I was told that I have to apply for my file to be rectified by email which takes up to 8weeks, I also have to list everything individually for it to be removed. Due to this I now have applications denied on my file that would not have otherwise been denied and 10weeks later I’ve still heard nothing from this agency. What are we suppose to do about such a ridiculous process that penalises us for their mistakes with no-recourse. I’d love some advice on this if anyone knows something I don’t. In the meantime I will apply for this service which will undoubtedly add to my frustrations as a business owner and single father just trying to get a little help after COVID destroyed me. Although the staff had no idea about the story I have written here, I was treated with respect and kindness. The Deferit Support Team were very professional to deal with and most of all friendly. SHOCKING. My card was blocked and after a month of communications and lots of patience, the Deferit employees informed me they could not provide a date on when the technical default would be resolved. A complaint to the AFCA was made and I was then threatened with legal action and account closure. Staff are inconsistent with their information, responses are delayed and the manager unprofessional.

I mean why would I use deferit, which charged a $2 fee, when I could have paid the bill directly in full with no fee. It defies logic. refund from the biller before they would refund me which of course is nonsensical as the bill has been processed and paid already. I raised this with them but have received no further response. It’s a scam. Used it once, Will never use it again!

I've had Deferit for a long time. I've build my credit from a small amount to a satisfactory limit over time. They've handled quickly and efficiently. I've never had a problem. My account occured a flag thru my bank (for lost card) and Deferit took measures to lock and secure it, until verification was provided to unlock. Show reply
