Delonghi Clessidra Drip Coffee Machine ICM17210 Questions & Answers
VerifiedMPN: ICM17210hi. Just got the Delonghi Clessidra. when I use it it keeps making noise loud cracking both pour and drip I’m not sure if this it normal for this machine or it is faulty?
It seems to be normal as our does it as well, particularly toward the end of the cycle.
hi. Just got the Delonghi Clessidra. when I fill the tank with water, the water drips immediately to the carafe. machine was currently off when inwas filling the tank.
Ours does the same occasionally and I suspect it's because we nudge one of the buttons while it's off which must open the valve without the power to control the flow. Turning it on stops the flow which is quite fast.
Hey, I would know what do you did when the coffee machine make this problem. I have the same issues
My machine has one button keep flashing and it stopped brewing. What is the reason and how it can be solved?
It is probably the LH button (Optimum coffee brew button) and according to the manual this is an empty tank error. The manual suggests unplugging the machine for at least 30 seconds.
Hello Nilgun A, As per our user manual, the lights flashing indicate that the unit is requiring a descale. You are recommended to descale the coffee maker every 25 coffee making cycles. • The appliance resets automatically after descaling. • To descale, always use special commercially available descaling products for drip coffee makers. • Dilute the product in the jug, following the instructions on the descaler pack; • Pour the solution into the water fill compartment; • Place the jug on the warming plate; and press simultaneously the High quality brew button (F) and pour over (G) for more than 1,5s percolate the equivalent of one cup then turn the appliance off; • Rinse by operating the appliance with water only at least 2 times (2 complete tanks of water). • Failure to clean as described above invalidates the guarantee.
Please let us know if this information has been useful in your situation.

Hi - it is not descaling lights. Only 1 light is flashing and stopped working.

Could someone please explain how to use the pour over function. I can't find any instructions on how tod do this. Thanks
There are 2 buttons on the base of the machine. When ready (measured amount coffee and water in place) press the button indicating constant flow for pour over and the button with drops for drip coffee. Both make coffee. Otherwise YouTube will help.
Thanks Tony, I wasn't sure if I had to gradually add the water for the pour over function as it doesn't saying the manual. Given what you have said I will add the water to the tank in one go. Thanks
My Coffee Machine does not prime. I push the left button and wait. Water boils but never goes down to the Jug. Any ideas?
I bought the machine a couple of weeks ago and today both buttons started to flash. If i press one off the other still flashes and vice versa. What could be the issue?
When two buttons (F) and (G) flashes simultaneously, (about every 25 cycles) you have to descale the appliance.
As Tony said, this is a descale alert. If you don't have the manual here are the instructions. To descale, always use special commercially available descaling products for drip coffee makers. • Dilute the product in the jug, following the instructions on the descaler pack; • Pour the solution into the water fill compartment (A); • Place the jug on the warming plate and press simultaneously the high quality brew button (F) and pour over button (G) for more than 1,5s percolate the equivalent of one cup then turn the appliance off; • Rinse by operating the appliance with water only at least 2 times (2 complete tanks of water).
We’ve hardly used our machine, so not sure it needs descaling yet, but now when we plug it in, both buttons light up and flash. It seems the only way to stop them, is to unplug the machine?
Yes. I only have mine plugged in when I’m using it. But I do that with all kitchen appliances anyway. I think the two flashing lights indicates the machine is on. I’ve had mine a couple of years, use it a few times a week and haven’t needed to descale yet.
I bought my Clessidra coffee maker about 1.5 years ago. Worked great until a week ago when the heating element seemed to have stopped working and the water never boils. The buttons and all of that work fine. Because the water never boils it just automatically shuts off. Is there any way to fix this?
That's a shame as they are a great coffee maker. The switches, element or thermostat could be faulty and can be checked by an electrician or someone that knows how. Good luck!
Hi is there a way to extend the time that the hot plate stays on for?
Unfortunately not. That’s the one downside for me.
Love this machine. Worked perfectly for two years. Best Coffee. BUT now boiling water but no water sprouting out to make the coffee. Have followed all instructions, including descaling. No water coming down. Can see this has occurred with other users too. Solution?
Jug has to press against button when you want coffee to pour down.
Hi there, Delonghi I have had my Delonghi Clessidra Filter Coffee Machine Grey ICM17210 for 2 years love the coffee machines results but there are a some issues, the loud clicking noise is one and another is the thin glass carrafe jug that breaks with no effort and lastly and more important the permanant filters that aren't supplied with the machine is a bit poor as I had to purchase this off the internet that are compatable with this machine.
Hi, I don’t really notice the clicking. I haven’t broken my glass jug and regularly put it in the dishwasher. And I buy my filters at Coles.
What sort of descaled do I use?my machine is telling me to descale every 2 weeks I use filtered water.
I’ve had mine 2 years. I put the pot through the dishwasher once a week and do a cycle of just water through the machine once a week. Haven't done a descale yet and it's fine.
The two bottons started flashing which i believe means it's time to do the descale process. I've done the process as per the manual but when i turn the machine back on both lights are still flashing. Is there something I'm missing with the descale process?
Why does only my coffee brew button flash? The pour over button remains off.
I also encountered this issue: one the left bottun flashing. Did you resolve it how did you do?
I have just bought a brand new Delonghi Clessidra. I have followed the instructions but, the machine kept boiling the water for a long time until the water vaporated about 300ml.
No dripping has appeared? What should I do in this case?
Hi Waleed, We are sorry your experiencing this it sounds like something is going on where the temp probe is not telling the solenoid (water gate) to open and let the water through. Can you direct message us your contact details so that we can help you further.
Is it possible to get a stainless steel filter for the clessidra? Bought it but realised that the filter seems to be a non-standard size so the generic stainless steel filter on amazon won't fit the machine.
Hi Dommo, Unfortunately you will need to keep to the original filter for this machine.
Hi, We are loving our new coffee machine but are confused as to why the lights are flashing. This has only just started happening in the last few days. Both the pour over and drip lights flash when coffee is not brewing. The only way we can get them to stop is by unplugging the machine. What is happening? How do we stop this?
Hi Laura, Thank you so much for your question. This is the machine advising it will need a descale. The process is in the manual here. ITs just to remove the limescale deposits that the water leaves behind. This can make the coffee taste gross and build up in the water pathways. Here's the link to the manual you will see the descale process on page 8. external link So happy that you are loving the machine.
Why does the machine make loud cracking/popping noises as it's filtering?
Hi Hilary, When using the Pour over mode the machine stops and starts to mimic the same pour over method of slowly pouring the water evenly over the coffee and allowing it to bloom before pouring all of the water. Its just the solenoid opening and closing to let the water go through when required for more intense brew.
Thank you, my coffee is delicious
Does the lid on the glass jug/carafe come off so I can put the jug/carafe into the dishwasher more easily?
Hi Kevin, The lid is attached to the jug, I would not be removing this part. I would refer back to your manual for tips on cleaning your machine, if you have misplaced your manual you can find it at:https://www.delonghi.com/Global/InstructionManuals/EN/EN-DeLonghi-ClessidraDripCoffeeMachine-ICM17210-InstructionManual.pdf Kind Regards De'Longhi Team
Delonghe drip machine coffee ICM1720 Can i use any paper filter to go with it or i have to buy from the delonghi supplier. Thank you
Hello. I just used the plain ones I bought from the local supermarket.$2.20 for x40 As there were 5 provided in the product box already, I was able to compare the flavours & they seemed fine.
Just make sure they are 10-12 cup which is a size 4. I bought mine from the coffee aisle at Coles. As Taj said 40 filters for $2.20
Thank you all
Hello Anh S. I could not find specific filter papers for the Clessidra machine but that may be because it is only new on the market . I also used generic papers but found that I needed to trim them slightly in order for them to sit neatly and wrinkle free in the filter basket .
Hi Anh,
As suggested by Maggie you can purchase any paper filters in size 4 from your local supermarket.
Please let us know if you have any more questions.
Kind Regards, De'Longhi Australia
