Wasn't disappointed with this heater – Picked up this heater about a year ago (my neighbour behind me had it on the verge with a "free" sign on it) I use it in the guest bedroom and haven't looked back, well built and heats up quickly, I also like the safety tip over and thermal cut off features, would definitely buy another one Show details
One of the best and cost effective heaters! – It works perfectly well in my daughter's bedroom (3.5x3.5m) and even in our master bedroom. In Sydney if it is +10C outside, heater would keep the room at approx. +23C to +24C on setting #4or#5 (I often have to turn it down so it's not too hot in the room). Obviously you have to keep the doors and windows closed to retain the heat... I had it for… Read more
over 2 years now and couldn't be happier! Very rarely I would use it on highest setting (#6) only when it is below +10C outside. It has a selective timer option, if you want it to stay 'on' at specific times of the night, like towards morning when it gets especially cold outside. It is absolutely queyet and on highest setting only consumes 1kW/hr (approximately AU$0.28/hr). It automatically switches off when the room is warm enough for the setting you've chosen - this saves a lot of money on the long run... It is also very important that it has perforated radiator segments, it seams to make a huge difference for air circulation in comparison with cheap heaters of same power (1kW) with no perforations. I know because I made a mistake and purchased a cheap heater for another room, I ended up throwing it away... Eventually I bought two more DL1001T for other bedrooms on sale from Bunnings towards the end of winter...
*Few cons after using it for nearly 5years now: on one of three heaters I've purchased back in 2019 the timer dial stopped working. The heater would still work and switch off automatically when it reaches preset temperature setting. This problem was easily solved by power plug with built-in timer... so far I have been using it this way for almost 2yrars.
Another small thing I forgot to mention in the beginning, like any other new oil heater it gives out smell of paint and whatever else is getting heated inside, but after that fist night the smell goes away completely.
Good unit from a reliable brand – Good heater for a small space. Main reason I decided to go with it was the 7 year warranty! Also comes with good safety features such as tilt switch, timer, over heating safety cut off etc. the anti frost feature turns on if the outside temperature falls below 5*c. Surface temperature is not too hot while operational. Takes a bit of time to heat up but stays warm once heated. I found it quite useful for a small bedroom.
Perfect for our needs – To my understanding, a number of the DeLonghi models marked here as "discontinued" are now made as a specific line for Bunnings, which is where I bought mine this week. Being an energy conscious household, we have been wanting a heater for our bedroom on evenings when it is cold but not cold enough to warrant turning on the air-con & heating up… Read more
the entire house. This electric radiator is perfect. As with many oil-filled radiators, it does take some time to heat up & isn't an instant fix for a cold space; but when it reaches temperature we have found this heater effectively warms up a medium to large sized bedroom just nicely. The legs/feet were easy to attach & I like the "cord storage" fitting. This heater is silent, doesn't dry out the air of the room too much; and seems to be great quality. I'm happy to spend a little more for a DeLonghi heater over a $30 heater when the former comes with a 7yr warranty.
Affordable heater – Got this little guy on a special. Ready to go with no installation required. Warms up the room quickly and when turned off progressively loses heat keeping room warm that little bit longer. Comes with a 7 year warranty so can’t go wrong. Happy with this purchase and glad to recommend. Show details
Reasonably good product – Originally from QLD and this being my first Canberra winter I needed a heater for each of my young children's bedrooms. After reading many pages of reviews I decided to go with an oil heater and went for the DL2001T Delonghi model. Whilst the product is shown as being discontinued by DeLonghi my local Bunnings had lots of stock. So I purchased… Read more
2 oil heaters. This model has 3 power settings, is 2000 watt and thermostatically controlled.
So far it seems to do a really good job. On cold nights about a half an hour before kids bedtime I set it on full power and then when the kids go to bed I turn it down to low. On low it seems to maintain a temp of around 17-18 deg C. The lowest temp it has got to outside so far is about 0 deg C so I'm pretty sure it will cope with temps of -5 to -9 which it can get down to down here.
The units have castors so they are reasonably mobile and they're not too heavy so can carry them to another downstairs room if I need to.
They come with a 7 year warranty which is reassuring. The only negative is the quality control/assembly of the fins. The fins are not evenly spaced and the end fins look bent a bit. It doesn't affect the performcance at all but one was so far out of whack I took it back to Bunnings to have it replaced with another one, which they were happy to do. At $129 they are not the cheapest but a happy medium.
So far I'm reasonably happy with them. I guess when I get my first electricity bill I will see how happy I am then!
Avoid – Just brought one of these from Bunings last Saturday so dont know why this website says they are discontinued. The owners manual mentions running the heater on full in a well vented room to get rid of the "new heater" smell, well 4 days later it is still off gassing from the paint so is going back to Bunnings for a refund, although not as badly… Read more
as the first day
No idea what sort of paint they use but the smell nearly choked me and as it it intended for an enclosed space no way do I want that toxic smell in a bedroom.
Don't know why they dont run them in in China where the electricity is much cheaper.
good heater – After having another DeLonghi model for our main bedroom, we decided to get another one for our guest room when my mother was visiting during the winter. She loved that so much that we felt guilty for not having purchased that when she first arrived and complained about the cold winter nights Show details
So So – We have a couple of these units. Bought one many years back and thought it used to do the trick for our son. Recently bought another from Good Guys and only noticed that it lacks heating capability. Our daughter room is much colder so you can feel the difference compared to when we used to use it in our son's room. On a very cold night… Read more
around 5 or under, you will need turn the heating setting to almost 6 (max). When you place your hand over the heater, you don't feel much heat coming out of it compared to the older Delonghi unit.
Overall, I think it lacks efficiency and I'm not blaming the brand as I'm a huge Delonghi fan/user but this product definitely perform poorly.
Great heater – it does the job as a heater. The heat is quite good, I can select 3 level of heat - MIN/MID/MAX, in each level, there are 6 sublevel adjustment. I like the timer, because I can turn it on and off during the night, it doesn't dry up my skin and it saves some energy Show details
Great heater – Just bought this 9 fin oil heater to go in our one-year-old's bedroom, but it's also a good size to use in a larger bedroom or lounge/dining room area. Timer setting easy to use, heats up quickly, easy to control ambient temperature with thermostat, warms room up nicely and takes the edge off those chilly nights. Fins get quite warm to the… Read more
touch if on a higher setting, so would not leave a child in the room with it unattended.
Overall, a great heater. Would highly recommend it. Timer setting easy to use, heats up quickly, easy to control ambient temperature with thermostat, warms room up nicely Fins get quite warm to the touch if on a higher setting (only an issue if there are small children around)
Lack of decent handles lets down an otherwise quality product – We bought this DeLonghi radiator for our little boy's room. From memory, it was on sale at the Good Guys for $99 but the pricing could have changed since then. It is a good sized unit for a bedroom (maybe not a master bedroom though) and has a wide range of temperature adjustment. There is a timer function if you want it to turn off by itself… Read more
during the night. This is handy, but trying to decipher the complicated dial array to actually set it for a time you want is difficult. I've had no need for the timer however.
The heater is a quality unit, well made, with only a small amount of assembly required before use (putting the wheels on). The plastic bracket at the front of the heater could be a bit larger so that you can stow the power cord properly when the heater is not in use - it's just that bit too small to wind the power cord up completely. When using the heater for the first time, you must leave it switched on for several hours in a large, well ventilated room so that manufacturing residue is 'burnt off' from the unit. The heater may smell a bit during this process, but causes no harm and afterwards you won't have to do it again. In operation, the heater is virtually silent apart from an occasional liquid noise from oil recirculating inside the heater. The heater has an in-built safety switch that cuts the power if the heater is tipped over accidentially (or deliberately!) and also a thermal overload/overheat cutoff switch.
The disappointing thing about the heater is it's handles. It only has one handle on one side of the unit. Pushing or moving it across a carpeted area is difficult as the little wheels dig into the carpet, so you have to pull it or wiggle it around using the one, small handle it has (which sometimes can be too hot to touch). Note to DeLonghi: fit it with decent handles, that are isolated from the heating surfaces, on BOTH sides of the unit.
Would I buy another? I'm not sure. The handle issue is not that much of a deal breaker, but if you were trying to push it across a carpeted room, I can forsee issues with accidental tip-overs and maybe a burn or two if you try and push it by handling the heating surface. If you're using it in a room that has hard floors, then it won't be an issue. Quality, features, silent running, throws a decent amount of heat for a small unit Inadequate handles, timer dial is complicated
