Works great in small rooms, forget about large areas

Tested in large cold living area. Temp went from 13.4 degrees to 15.1 degrees, 3 hours later. So still cold! Wife not happy. She switched it off and put on a $30 electric delonghi fan heater instead. The temp went up a degree within an hour as it got colder outside. Tried it in my cold office the next day. Went from 13.2 degrees to 18 degrees over 1.5 hours.
As such, it's suitable for bedrooms, offices etc but not living areas.

Purchased in for $194.

Piece of rubbish

Its better to boil the water rather than using Delonghi electric heaters. Real comment you dont need hundreds of words.

I GOT A DUD HEATER

I bought the heater in June last year. Turned it on this March. Continuous loud ticking 24 hours a day, even when turned off. Contacted Delonghi and sent videos of the noise. They reviewed my videos and they said they would replace it. Told me to cut the cord off so that it couldn't be used. Continually tried to contact them for 3 weeks by email and phone calls and eventually got a new heater 3 weeks after the first phone call. Contacting them was one thing, getting a reponse was the most frustrating and drawn out process.

Purchased in at Harvey Norman for $199.

good oil

It's quiet and solid and takes time to warm up the whole room but you know it's an oil heater so no grumble here. Nobody purchases a wood fired stone oven and complains it's too slow to preheat?

The boost fan is a funny design it's just a mini fan heater blows hot air instantly but as noisy as a hair dryer. not a big fan to the fan. I have a feeling the heater itself could last many years but the fan or mechanical timer would be the first thing breaks down. Should buy most basic one and automate by smart plug.

It feels sort of more efficient than kmart 50 bucks one but will see...

Very happy

It quickly fills our two bedroom home to be cosy. Distributes heat well. Haven’t got a bill yet, but it’s seems to maintain heat efficiently as we are turning it down/ to thermostat/ off not too long after switching it on. For the price, very affordable. I’m very impressed as was worried that I wouldn’t find something suitable after reading lots of reviews of a range of heaters. Very happy!

Purchased in for $164.

Great for heating up rooms

This heater does a pretty good job at heating up an entire room if the doors and windows are closed. I’ve had my one for a year now and it still works well. It works well even when left on for hours, I’ve had my one run 5 hours at a time without issue

Heats up the room quickly

We purchased this for our daughters bedroom as it gets as low as 10 deg in there at night and wakes up because she’s cold.

Plugged it in 30 mins before bed time and came back in and the room had gone up 8 degrees. The fan works a treat and heats the room up much quicker than an oil heater without one.

It took me a while to work out how to set the timer as the instructions were not help whatsoever. I had to look for videos on how to set it and the thermostat.

I will be purchasing another one for our sons room when he moves in there as his room is even colder.

Great heater

I’ve had my heater for a number of years and also have a smaller model which I occasionally use in the second bedroom. I leave it on the lowest setting throughout the winter which keeps the chill off the room. I very rarely have to to turn it up any higher which I would have to do if I was turning it on in a cold room. It heats a living/dining room area of a unit plus the kitchen as I can’t close that off.

Lovely and cosy to sit near

Works well in a room. Only use it in the bedroom and keeps it cosy and warm. Not great in large spaces. Maintains temperature and is not noisy or gives out fumes. Easy to wipe down the dust.

Questions & Answers

Haich

Regarding the “new” smell removal procedure:
- The manual says “set it to maximum power for at least two hours...”
- Does that mean maximum power AND maximum temperature ie 28deg Celsius? Or is the temperature degree not important? Can I in other words have it on maximum power on 23 degrees Celsius with the same result?

Does the 2400 w delonghi OIL FREE column heater have any Teflon or PTFE in or on them ? And are they safe around birds?

Rubberneck K.
Rubberneck K. ·

I don’t think the fins are paint coasted metal. Not tested on animals but with my common sense it’s fairly safe

DeLonghi
DeLonghi ·

Dear Avs,

Thank you for contacting Delonghi Group regarding FEP in our Delonghi heaters.

I'd like to confirm our current oil-filled radiators do not contain Teflon.

However, Delonghi fan heaters on the Australian market will be equipped with fan motor wiring containing Teflon (FEP).

In order to eliminate the radiator’s “new” smell which is a powder paint coating - We suggest setting the product to maximum power for at least 8 hours when used for the first time. During this operation, the room in which the radiator is located must be ventilated.

During such an operation, until completed and in order to avoid any concern, it is better to take small birds away from the product.

If you have any concerns regarding the above, we recommend contacting your local Vet to discuss further.

Any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you

Details

Features

  • 3 heat settings let you choose your preferred level of warmth, while an integrated thermostat lets you program the heater to reach a desired temperature.
  • Designed with a fan to help circulate warm air around a room
  • The heater’s fins are made with thermal slots, which help to evenly distribute heat through convective air movement. This is balanced with a lower surface temperature for the heater metal, for safety reasons.
  • A 24-hour timer lets you leave the heater on a low setting to maintain a comfortable level of warmth in a room.
  • Attached castor wheels add to the portability factor, making it convenient to move this DeLonghi heater between different rooms of your home.

Points of Praise

  • An impressive heating ability was demonstrated by this DeLonghi heater, particularly on freezing cold nights.
  • This heater is quick to heat up, with some reviewers reporting that it can warm up a small room in as little as 10 minutes.
  • Reviewers stated the heater can be turned on for a short period. Due to its superior heating performance and speed, it can be switched off shortly afterwards. This helped householders save money on their energy bills.

Something to consider

  • The addition of a fan to the heater can make running costs of this fan high, if kept running for a prolonged period.
