very good unit – I decided to purchase this heater after reading extensive reviews, there were some interesting ones over at Amazon uk. After having previously owned regular oil column heaters in the past, I have to admit the 'dragon design' does make a difference to how quickly this generates heat. It heats up much quicker than a regular oil heater as it is effectively enclosed around the fins with some vents at the top which is where the majority of the heat is expelled.

I was unsure whether the 1500 version would be adequate enough to heat up the bedrooms in my house, however it is very good and much better than expected. I've previously had some delonghi products in the past and they have always been excellent quality. The downside is they are much more expensive than a similar product of this nature.

Overall, we don't have to use this product as much as a regular oil heater due to the fact it heats up the room much quicker. This may end up saving some dollars over time. the patented dragon design -- it does make a difference none really, more expensive if that is really a con however you get what you pay for with this product

Does it make a loud noise when heating up?

Terrible – I spent extra on this heater thinking that I was doing the best for my son. It doesn't keep the desired temperature and is noisy, even waking him on some occasions. If I had bought a budget generic brand I would have saved myself lots of money and may have obtained a better product. It gets hot It "ticks" loudly as it heats up and cools down. Once the desired temperature has been set it keeps the room at a variable temperature. eg. I set it at around 19C in my sons room and went in there to find it not on and the room was 17C. Then other times it has the room at 21C. It's overpriced.
