Devanti Induction Cooktop 30cm Portable Cooker

I camp both on power and free camping in my little box camper, I wanted an alternative to the butane stove when I had access to power. I bought the single burner stove and am extremely happy with it and the speed of cooking and control. I have a small induction kettle that boils 400 mls in under 5 minutes , I use thermo pot or dream pot cooking for meals so extremely happy with my 2 modes of cooking. However I can’t fault the sx induction cooktop for speed and control and would highly recommend it as a powered cooking method. I was camping with someone who was off grid at the same camp and had her camper set up for induction cooking but it required a lot of power I think 2000 amp but I’m happy with my compromise
Purchased in at eBay.
No power modulation below 1000 watts – I bought two of these through different channels, having decided upon the model because of the decent two-year warranty, and specs promising many power settings and great control all the way down to 200 watts. I had to send both units back. The first one had two faults – an overheating error appearing randomly even while operating briefly on its lowest setting, and a problem common to both purchases:
These units did not cycle their power on and off to create heat outputs below 1000 watts. Everything from 2000 down to 1000 watts worked as expected, dropping 200 watts with each increment. However, 1000 watts was the floor. Selecting 200 watts on the readout, for example, still pumped out 1000 watts of power, as verified by my power meter and a kettle boiling with the same vigour.
These portable hotplates can only go so low with their electronics. They tend to bottom out around 1000-1200 watts, and fudge lower outputs by cycling that setting on and off. So, 200 watts, for example would be the minimum hardware-achievable 1000 watts switched on by software for 1 second, and off for 4 seconds repeatedly, producing 1/5 of 1000 watts heating on average over time.
Neither of my units did this. Both of them just kept pumping out 1000 watts. That spells no simmering and burnt food for anyone with needs other than quickly boiling a kettle, say.
Whether or not this fault is common to all I don’t know. Maybe I just struck a bad batch, but I won’t be trying for ‘third time lucky’.

Katherine, thanks for your quick response and input. Happily, I do seem to have been granted a refund now through the seller.
Apart from the problems I experienced, your portable induction cookers have excellent specs and pricing, and seem to be otherwise well designed. I was really attracted to the fine control promised by power levels ranging from 200 to 2000 watts in 200 watt increments. This makes a big difference while cooking. Many of your competitors, even big name brands, must be betting that people don’t notice or understand the significance of the coarse and clumsy control offered by their portable cookers.
I have owned several of these portable cookers through the years, and am yet to find a good replacement, so I’m disappointed that Devanti has not been the answer it promised to be. If your investigations reveal that I was just unlucky with my two purchases, I am open to appending my review with that good news for the benefit of others who might have requirements similar to mine.

Katherine, when I said that I might be open to appending my review, I was referring to the idea that the faults I encountered might not be representative of all units for sale - that I was just remarkably unlucky in buying two with the same fault. If I were somehow convinced that the model's power modulation does typically function as advertised, I would be open to making a note of that, or of adjusting my initial review.
