Very Frustrating Piece of Equipment – There are issues with the trimmer line getting stuck in and around line cover, as one other reviewer wrote, you'll spend more time trying to sort the cutting line than cutting. Bump feed never really worked. I've tried different brands and thicknesses of line however it made no difference. Very frustrating, wasted a lot of time and energy persisting with this piece of equipment.

Recommended – Only used it once bit if she keeps up this attitude, will be the best unit I have used. Surprising longevity and power for a battery powered snip. Bit long but super light Show details

Total p.o.s – There hasn’t been one day I’ve used mine without one side of the line getting sucked back into the head. Occasionally both lines disappear back into the head. If you buy this heap of sh*t you will spend more time setting the line in it than you will trimming.  Show details

Great line trimmer but terrible at times – Cuts well, great battery life, lightweight, but the line always breaks. I spend more time winding and feeding the line than I do cutting. A 5-minute job could take me 30 minutes. I have tried the premium line, winding it on the spool tightly and loosely, short line when cutting, but it always breaks. On slow speed it may last a little longer, I have gone 15 minutes without it breaking but the average time could be 1-2 minutes. Show details

Cuts well but line keeps jamming – I have a DCM5712xe string trimmer 54v . As a senior person at first i found it too tall and awkward and the crossbar handle catches in wire fences etc. When its working its great and it has to deal with some tough weeds on our block. tried dewalt brand line and a generic line, i seem to waste so much line and get sick of rewinding the line. Love it being battery.

frustration, disappointment and bouts of anger this product has caused me. I don't even know where to start.

The trimmer itself is longer than most line trimmers which makes it awkward to use in tight spaces, I think this is done so that it improves the centre of gravity to balance out the weight as its hefty for a battery powered trimmer.

The bump feed is horrendous, the internal notches are facing the wrong way so when you load line you have to first fold it back on itself which is near impossible with 2mm line. This process is incredibly frustrating and would have the be the worst mechanism I have encountered, even getting the spool to come off first go is annoying. You have to be super careful when you load line also as it jams really easily which leads to losing the line into the spool, this normally happens to me 10-15 times when I am trying to do my edges.

The two power settings are a joke, they are just there so Dewalt can say it has two power settings, you can hear an audible change but it makes no difference to battery run times or cutting power what so ever.

The motor is mounted on the bottom making this device incredibly difficult to clean since the instructions say not to get the end wet, this adds even more time to your cut.

overall I am incredibly disappointed, this is not the quality I expect from dewalt, this is not a refined design and certainly not worth the price tag.
