The product is good. But the after sale is terrible. My Line trimmer has gone mulfunction after 2 years using, I sent it back to Coopers Plains Total Tools for repairing. I have been told it will be around 3 weeks but now I have been waiting for more than a month. Called twice and told me still need to wait. Their products are really good,, and… Read more
the price is much expensive than other brands. By spending that much money consumer not only aim for good quality product but also after sale service. Left customer in no where does not make any positive reputation for Ego.
Satisfied – Powerful, Reliable, easy to use. Battery failed after 4 years
EGO way to Go – Terrific machine, great build quality and powerful. Very happy with the purchase Show details
Wont power wind line – Had the line trimer repaired on the 10/2022 under warranty 2/2023 wont power wind again Show details
More Ego Junk – Worked great for the 1st 12 months and then the line kept getting cut for some reason. Had to unclip the head to remove the remainder of the line stick inside and since then it doesn't feed properly with the auto feed button. Problem is that that's the only way to feed it so if that falls your stuffed. Just buy Ryobi from Bunnings who give you 3 - 5 years no questions asked replacement warranty. Ego tools are not with it. A Battery powered whipper Snipper that works – I have always held off using battery powered tools for serious garden work ,until I come across this little gem, My back yard is a jungle and using normal machines excite bees and then I have two problems. This one smashed the jungle and I was impressed. It shredded everything and just kept punching out the line, the difficulty I initially… Read more
experienced was threading the line I was doing it all wrong you simply push the line in the hole and press the button and it just winds it automatically, unlike ryobi ,let's not go there. This unit has a good battery life and the carbon fibre rod makes it the perfect work tool Rapid charger also gets you back to work immediately 10 out 10 guys
Just a Monster! Takes gardening to a whole new level!I did my research Highly recommend it – Have been buying battery operated line trimmers for a number of years and mostly disappointing. This one rips through everything with ease. The IQ head feeds the line and just solves another issue Show details
wow just wow – changed from a petrol whipper snipper and the difference is amazing,so much power and so easy to use. iwas worried about the straight shaft, but after the 1st 10 seconds all my fears disapeared. i can't wait to use it again. if you're thinking of buying one do it for yourself NOW Show details
Awesome Line Trimmer – Good trimmer with good battery life. I actually upgraded from a previous Ego model as the Powerload function was very enticing and did not regret my decision. Quiet, light and easy to reload. Show details

Takes away the frustration of petrol line trimming and spool winding – Was looking for a new lawn edger. Decided to go battery and due to a good experience with an EGO branded Mower and Leaf Blower decided on the EGO 38cm Brushless Powerload Line Trimmer. Supplied with a 2.5Ah battery and standard charger, I also received a second 2.5Ah battery (worth about $199) as an extra bonus during a promotion that was… Read more
currently running.
Appearance wise, looks and feels like a petrol trimmer but with the electric motor located on the spool and with battery and controls up around where you hold it. Construction is a combination of plastic and aluminium with carbon fibre being used for most of the shaft thus making it light but whilst also maintaining the strength. Cutting width for this trimmer is 38cm.
Only assembly required was to attach the battery (after charging) and position the grip handle where it was most comfortable for you. Then attach the trimmer safety shield after unfolding and locking the two stem halves. Should be ready to go in less than 15 minutes. Spool arrives with cord already wound on plus an extra length ready to go in the box. With the 2.5Ah battery fitted, unit weights about 4.5Kg which is about the same as my previous petrol powered unit. Providing you get the optimal position on the handle, the balance means its not a particular chore to manoeuvre. A shoulder strap is available (optional accessory) if you feel the weight could be a problem.
I have to admit that (as well as the bonus battery) one of the main reasons to purchase this particular unit was the “Powerload” feature. I positively hate having to load trimmer line into the spool. You always seem to get it mostly loaded then it springs away from you with line going everywhere ...back to the start. However, with the EGO Powerload feature you simply thread the line (2.4mm) through the spooler with equal amounts out each side. Press the adjacent Powerload button and it winds up the line into the spool within seconds and you are good to go. Brilliant!
Operational wise, unit has plenty of power with EGO claiming about 30 minutes run time before needing a recharge. In my use on a 800sqm domestic block trimming around peripheral garden edging, up and down the driveway and across the front, I found I only use about two of the five bars of battery power. This is after about 15 minutes of use so that supports EGO’s claim. Recharging takes about 50 minutes using the supplied standard charger or about 20 minutes if you have the rapid charger (came with my EGO mower). Turning on is with a trigger activated by your index finger with the thumb simultaneously pressing on a left side mounted safety button. Works well for right handers but less so with left handers having to use their index finger for the safety button. Both handle and hand grip where you grab it with two hands are soft and easy to hold for extended periods of time.
One of the first things I noticed when using this trimmer is how much more stable it is to use without the usual “head bucking” as it grabs and releases the grass. I believe this is due to the battery being at one end with the weight of the electric motor counterbalancing it at the other end. This is as opposed to a petrol unit where all the weight is centred at the end nearest you. Other advantages over petrol units are no hot engine to burn you or oily/petrol fumes to assail the nostrils. Maintenance is limited to general cleaning after use and adding trimmer line as required. No other servicing (spark plug, oil, air filter, petrol) is required. Of course, there is no yanking at a cord to get it going which is always a bit of a hit and miss on the petrol trimmers. Much quieter than petrol too. I also noticed the bump feed for the line only needs a gentle tap to advance and overall worked better than previous petrol trimmers I have had. If that is not enough, it’s great to be able to rotate the unit through 90° (handle is designed to accommodate this too) to put a perpendicular trim on the lawn edge to give it an almost “laser” like cut. Looks exactly like the edge when you use a dedicated powered lawn edger. This is not something you can easily (if at all do) with a petrol unit.
EGO provides a 5 year warranty on the trimmer with 3 years on the charger and battery. The unit feels sturdy and well up to extended rigours of domestic use. I give it a high recommendation!
What I liked; * Instant start. No fumes or burns * Powerful * “Powerload” feature (almost) instantly loading fresh line * Build quality * Balance of unit allowing for smoother lawn trimming * Run time
What I didn’t like; * More expensive than equivalent petrol powered trimmers * Not as well suited to left handers
Easy to operate, good for domestic use – I decided to switch to the Ego ST1521E-S 56V battery-powered line trimmer to complement my Ego lawn mower. I quite like the feel and balance of the trimmer, the light, sturdy carbon-fibre shaft, and the ease of installing a new line using the automatic power-load mechanism. The trimming results are almost as good as my old petrol-driven line… Read more
trimmer, but the blessing is that there are no exhaust fumes to contend with and I do not have to pull repeatedly on a cord to crank and start the engine. Although my old petrol-driven trimmer was a lot more powerful, it was noisier.
The Ego ST1521E-S is comfortable to hold with the trimming head in a flat, horizontal position and it does a splendid job of trimming the unsightly tufts of grass along the borders of my lawn and around the flower beds.
However, when I tried trimming the edges of the driveway and the kerbside with the trimmer head tilted 90⁰ vertically, the handle did not have a good grip. Holding the trimmer became awkward, uncomfortable, and somewhat of a pain. To overcome this difficulty, I purchased an extra front handle from Ego and attached it perpendicularly to the existing handle further down the shaft. That way I can hold the trimmer more comfortably with my left arm fully stretched and not bent and at the correct height when trimming the lawn edges vertically.
Overall, I am pleased with this Ego line trimmer so far, but it is still early days and only time will tell regarding its durability. The financial outlay is a bit pricey though.
Best of the best – My first trimmer was a petrol Ryobi which was a Chinese crap, next a Japanese petrol Honda which was much better in the engine aspect but the head gave me headache i.e. time consuming to load and frequent jammed head. Then I moved to cordless trimmer with a Dewalt trimmer but experienced the same problem with loading the line and jammed head. I… Read more
saw the EGO Powerload trimmer ad in YouTube and decided to have a go. I have used this trimmer for a year now and to be frank, it has surpassed my expectation. The machine is well balanced, easy to handle, control is intuitively designed, but the best part is the innovative powerload head. It's so easy and so quick to load the line via a button. The line is released smoothly to the end, and the new line can be loaded very quickly, no frustration. The motor is quiet and very powerful to the point I wish the trimmer is equipped with a control providing, say two or three levels of power. Apart from this, there is nothing else to complain. I have no hesitation to recommend this trimmer to any gardener.
Disappointing – I purchased an earlier STI300 model four years ago. Cost $450 with BA1400 battery and charger. Initial battery time was 45 minutes with average use on 2000 sq.m. block. This has gradually decreased to the point where the battery is now U/S. Replacement battery is $200-$250. Manual re-winding of the trimmer line is also frustrating. After reading… Read more

Extremely disappointed – I am a female who has been left to keep up with the mowing etc. I bought the Ego 56V Power line trimmer because it has an automatic line feed. Just replace the line and push a button and it is supposed to wind it for you. The hard part is putting the line in. It just does not work. You can buy replacement heads but I did not pay $499 to buy… Read more
replacement heads. You should be able to feed the line through. Extremely disappointed and would not recommend. Initially I thought it was great.
Excellent ! Perfect replacement for petrol trimmer – 56v trimmer, brushless motor with variable speed control. Only trimmer with powerload auto line winder (just push 4 metres of line through the 2 holes either side of the head, equalise the lenth and press the powerload button and it winds the line into the head ready to go)..the graphite shaft keeps the total weight with 2.5 amp battery to 4.8… Read more · 1
kg..my petrol trimmer was near 8kg and nowhere near as quiet or easy to use like the ego..the 2.5amp battery is enought to trim my whole yard with power left to run the blower for a quick clean up. Its well balanced, rest your arm on the head unit while running it and keeps it easy to use and control. The machine is powerful enough that i wouldnt consider a petrol unit again and the benefit of the quiet and smooth electric machine leaves the petrol behind. Ego quality build is right through, very good build quality, virtually no vibration. Uses 2.4 mm line..i tried the kross kut line from Bunnings...works a treat in this trimmer.
