I should have read posted reviews prior to my purchase. The voice prompt feature AKA Bitching Betty, sorry to all the Betties out there, but this feature is freaking annoying with no way around disabling. Show details

Reasonable Performance Let Down by Terrible Voice Navigation – For the price, it is good in all ways, except.. the voice navigation. Stuck on max volume, and can't be muted. Spoils the experience so much that my partner wants it gone. Such a pity. Show details

Buy this if you want to be shouted at every time you turn on, off or change a mode – This Digitech soundbar is a rubbish product that shouldn't be sold by any company in Australia! It's a shame to see Jaycar and other greedy companies offer this terrible soundbar! Don't get me wrong, the soundbar works as described and would get 4 (possibly 5) stars had it not been for one MAJOR issue where anytime you do anything with the unit… Read more

(Turn on, off, or change a mode) it will shout than change at MAX VOLUME, example: POWER ON, POWER OFF, AUX 1, AUX 2, HDMI MODE, OPTICAL MODE.

The bass is also a bit bad (distorts really bad meaning can't be turned up as loud when in Rock mode).

This means when turning the unit on or off, or when changing a setting, you will be shouted at by the unit, at full volume. Hopefully you don't have others in the house or close nearby who might get woken up by the stupid design.

This is a clear design flaw and could easily be corrected by the manufacturer.

Sound bar issue – Sounds like that the Digitech sound bar has issues well every one before you go to bed at night turn the soundbar of at the power inlet on your wall, that seems to stop the SOUND OFF noise that's what I do and turn it back on when you want to watch TV.ok.

just what I wanted, but – I am hearing impaired. even with my hearing aids I have hearing problems with TV. if I am alone I can use bluetooth headphones but they mute the TV speakers audio for others. this digitech soundbar is ideal for myself in the company of others. the downside is the auto robotic voice built into the digitech that has only one volume (extremely… Read more

loud) which is not volume controllable or mutable and it 'announces' every 'power on' and 'power off'. I tried to 'fool it' by not actually turning the digitech off at the end of the evening viewing, just turning the tv itself off and leaving the digitech 'on'............several minutes after we got the bedroom lights off and our heads on the pillows the digitech 'announced' at full volume it was 'TURNING POWER OFF!!' tried minimising the auto robotic voice volume setting via use of the remote volume button but this button has no control over the auto robotic voice. ANYONE WITH A PROVEN PRACTICAL SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM PLEASE POST IT HERE.

Good sound for price, shockingly loud and unadjustable voice navigation – Needed a budget soundbar for an older TV that had very tinny sound from the built in speakers. This XC5233 seemed to fit the bill with a good variety of connections and the sound is more than adequate. The major issue is the voice that announces each change in mode and even announces on\off (the latter most annoying), all at full volume. There… Read more

doesn't appear to be any way to adjust the volume or turn off this 'feature' at all. Seems to be an issue that at least one other person has experienced - https://www.austech.info/showthread.php/121665-Digitech-xc5233-soundbar-issue
