Dimplex DAC12005/9005 Questions & Answers
VerifiedI just bought a second hand Dimplex DAC12005 today. The air is cool for 5mins, then it starts blowing hot air like a heater. Please help!!!!
Hi Crystal O, Unfortunately, the model listed is one that was imported originally by Hagemeyers Australia (now Shriro Australia Pty Ltd) under the Dimplex brand name many years previously. As this is a long obsolete model, Glen Dimplex Australia unfortunately has no service information available for these units and as such we are unable to offer any assistance in relation to supply of spare parts for same. Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience that this information may cause.
How come it went from blowing cold warm to room temp

Hi can a replacement hose/exhaust be bought for a Dimplex 12005?
Martin
Hi Martin, Your appliance was brought into the country by a company called Hagemeyer and therefore we do not have any parts for this model. If you contact your local air conditioning repairer they may be able to assist with a generic exhaust pipe to fit.
Hi I am buying a second hand unit and would like to know how heavy they are to move around please?
They're about 32KG but do move on castors quite easily. Leave it still and upright for 24 hours before powering up after moving it to be kind on the compressor.
how much water do you use in machine?
There's two variants; the older models a little drawer was on the back to add a cup or two. Never models don't have the facility to add water.
Hi Rick - if you would contact our Customer Care team direct (Ph: 1300 556 816) and confirm the model number, we can then advise further as appropriate. We can also arrange to have the Owner's Manual emailed to you direct for your future reference should it be required.
800ml
Instructions say put 800ml in the small back door when the unit is used for first time. This is to keep condenser cool while operating. This should not need to be repeated as unit will gain water through humidity in the air.
Only needs to be emptied when the water full light comes on or when put into storage. I've never had to refill water during summer use,
I purchased a DAC12005 second hand and it doesn't have the Gob or window kit. I was looking at replacements but can only seem to find 13cm or 15cm Gob online. What are the dimensions of the exhaust tube? And are there possible replacements?

Michael I just measured mine and it is 13cm. I had holes cut in my fixed windows, because of my stupid wind out windows. I am pretty sure it also came with a foam like material. It could fit into a sliding or push up window, it had a hole cut in it for the air out tube. I think you could make something like this pretty easily. You just need to be able to let the air out of the tube, and keep the outside air out. I saw some on ebay for $10 to $20, they would probably work depending on your window.
Hi there, where can I purchase a drainage pipe or hose for the DAC-12005 model. I don't have one and I am finding the red light comes on after 3 hrs of use, indicating water tray is filled. When I move the unit to empty it in the shower it spills water out all over the carpet which is not ideal.
Raise the unit on something like a bedside table. Then directly hook a piece of half inch garden hose from the drain into a watering can. We get about a litre an hour condensing. As long as you don't sleep more than 9 hours straight this works well and you can reuse the watering can on your pot plants.
Where is the water tray?
Down the bottom. Drain plug should be in the centre at the back.
The red light on my unit (dac-9005) is on. What do i need to do?
Empty the water tray at the back.
Where can I buy bucket and hose fittings for outlet?
A standard 12mm garden hose heated up with a hair dryer or heat gun will fit over the barb. You'll need to raise the unit on a cabinet or something else to allow gravity to drain the condensation. We use a watering can but in humid environments you will collect over a litre per hour so not the best choice for overnight unless you're up once or twice to monitor.
Do I have to use continuous drainage ? Or can I plug the drainage hole?
I never use the continuous drainage. Just fill it up and empty it for storage every year.
Hi Steptoe - it is recommended that the drainage plug remain in place at all times. The only exception is for days of very high humidity whereby the tank is likely to fill quickly and repeatedly. The instructions for running the unit in this manner can be found in the Owners Manual. Should you require a copy, please contact our Technical team by email: service@glendimplex.com.au in order for us to provide one for you.
Thank you very much for your quick response.
The 9005 is terrible in areas of high humidity unless constantly drained. Later Dimplex models are better at ejecting the condensed vapour out the exhaust. If you do have continuous drainage be warned the output can be over a litre per hour - I usually fill a watering can by morning.
Can you please advise where can I get the drip Tray to suit DAC9005-2, it has gone and cannot be found?
Bob Callahan
Hi Bob - please note that the parts for this now obsolete model are no longer available for order. In relation to the drip tray required, it does not need to be the genuine 'tray' as supplied originally but rather can be any container that is the right size to slip under the drain spigot and catch the water released. Hope this helps..
My DAC 12005 turns off after 15 minutes of cold air then blows hot air. What might be the problem?
Compressor issue or low on gas.
Have you filled with 800mls of water? Do this for first time use, then, after operating, if the red light comes on, the water will need to be drained. When the red light is on, the compressor is off. The exhaust hose also needs to be positioned from the unit to the window correctly--ie. no kinks or sagging in the middle.
Hi Hayford Saint Afotey, Model Number DAC12005 is an obsolete model. This model was distributed by Hagemeyer and when they ceased distribution their part production was also ceased by their supplier. Unfortunately due to this we cannot obtain any parts for your unit and also do not have any operations information.
I have no instructions. Can you send me how to operate please?
HI Meredith - please call our Customer Care team (Ph: 1300 556 816) or email: customer.care@glendimplex.com.au in order to receive a copy of the Owner's Manual as requested.
Fill 800mls of water in the pull out tray located on the back of the unit. Position the exhaust hose to the window so the hot air can escape smoothly--no kinks or sagging. If the red light comes on during usage, empty the water from the black drain hose under the pull out tray.
On the DAC9005 how does do the two plugs come out? I unscrew the knob but the plug seems fixed?
Unscrew the white one, then on the end of the next one is a small black bung. Just pull this off, It does not need screwing, just a bit of strength. I know it looks like a screw but it is not right at the end.
Where do you put the water for the DC12005 model, I have been trying to look for a hole in the unit but cn not locate one. Can anyone assist?
At the back down the bottom is a little drawer. Pull this out and use a jug or something with a spout. I think it is 800mls. I am not home at the moment but if you have any more problem I can send a photo.
You don't add water . Water does come out of it at the rear attach a hose to this and run out window.
Hi Roxie - Happy New Year. My apologies for the delay in our getting back to you!! There are 2 different series of the DAC12005 - one requires water and one does not. Should your unit have a small water deposit slot at the base of the rear, you can certainly add water to assist in the best performance from initial start up (no more than 800mls as advised previously by Denise). If you would like to receive a copy of the Owner's Manual relevant to the model that you have, please call our Customer Care team on 1300 556 816 (we are back on board and ready to take your call)..

Can the DAC 12005 be regassed?
I have no idea sorry. I have had mine for many years, probably around 10 years. I have never even thought about regassing.
Thanks Denise. I just noticed someone else had asked the same question, and it had been answered by the company.

Good morning Vickie.. Re: Enquiry regarding Hagemeyers (DAC) series coolers.. As requested, we have emailed you a copy of the Owners Manual relevant to the model number listed. Unfortunately, the model that you refer to is one that was imported originally by Hagemeyers Australia (now Shriro Australia Pty Ltd) under the Dimplex brand name many years previously. As this is a long obsolete model, Glen Dimplex Australia unfortunately has no service information available for these units and as such we are unable to offer any assistance in relation to supply of same.

Does it need water?
No. It's a refrigerative unit not evaporative. Condensation is a byproduct that collects in the drip tray.
If you read the instruction manual, yes it does need water! It will aid the cooling process in a dry environment like South Australia. In the tropics or other humid environment it will condense the water out of the air faster than it can use it and so will need to be drained.
Smithy there are two versions of the unit. One has no ability to add water and the other just helps initial cooling in dry climates as you mentioned.
Is it possible to get a timer switch assembly as a spare part anymore?
Dimplex do have decent spares but I believe support for this model has been discontinued. You can always purchase a plug in timer for the power cord instead.
