Doesn't last – After about 6 months the plug fell to bits which they replaced (took their time saying it wasn't their fault) then about a month ago it started continually shutting down. Show details

Failed after 1.5 years – The camera itself, not too bad. The sd can't be removed with my finger, the release needs it pushed further with a toothpick or something small. I coped ok with this. Though the connection became intermittent. I found it was the mini usb on the device that is failing. My cord connects from above, so there was no tugging on the connection. Emailed dod countless times, were not helpful at all. Shameful for a $300 device. Show details

DOD LS470W lasted 2 years - nil aftercare backup – Bought the DOD LS470W after two expensive unreliable Mini 0805's. This is either another dud or perhaps the alternative "dash cams do not have a long life". Issue - The DOD no longer turns on and starts recording when starting the car. The blue LED light on the top flickers very faintly and fast when the camera is switched OFF using the on/off… Read more

button on the camera itself and the car is running. Googled for help with no luck so then decided to contact the company for advice.

Contacted DOD Australia who advised they no longer operating as DOD Australia. However they were very helpful in giving us the link to contact the manufacturer direct.

Two emails direct to the manufacturer through the provided link and we have heard nothing back (4 months). We bought this DOD as it was recommended as one of the better dash cams out there at the time. We are now looking at buying a replacement and due to the non-existent aftercare/backup this will not be on the list.

DOD 475 Doesn – Purchase 2 DOD 475 Cameras. I regularly reformat them after the initial computer reformat. However, cameras both seem to turn off intermittently and do not always record even though power to both units is confirmed on and memory sufficient on memory card. I have contacted the supplier and am waiting to hear back. Other than that, when the units are working, picture quality is good.

Great cameras – I currently run two LS470W and one IS420W dashcams in my car and I wouldn't consider fitting any other brand. Performance in all levels of light is excellent and the cameras are set-and-forget - they just work. It is possible to use 64gb micro SD cards in these cameras and I do. The card has to be formatted with a programme available on DOD's… Read more ·  2

web-site, see; https://dod-tech.ca/supportcenter/formatting-64gb-microsdxc-cards-for-dod-tech-cameras/ They cannot be formatted in the camera's menu. The 64gb cards give about ten hours of storage or, in my case, about two weeks driving.

The cameras 'HUD' speed display is a useful gimmick as it's more accurate (and easier to read) than my car's speedo but I have one gripe with it and that's the 10x update rate; it tends to flicker up and down rapidly. The 5x update on the old LS460W provided a much steadier readout.

My cameras have paid for themselves already in two cases in which other drivers backed into my car in shopping centre car-parks, then lied to their insurance companies about who was to blame. The video settled the matter in each case.

A great camera – It is a great pleasure to come on this site with a positive review about a product for a change. The DOD LS470W is a great unit and works well and is easy to install and setup. It should be noted even though it is not stated , it will work fine with a 128GB Micro SD card installed providing it is formatted first on a computer. My only gripe… Read more ·  1

and it is very minor is that unlike other dash cam manufacturers , there are no spare adhesive pads supplied and they don't seem to be available for purchase , even on eBay.

Maybe the DOD Official on this site can shed some light on this.

Great advice, excellent service both from supplier and manufacturer – Purchased DODLS470W online through dashcamscentral. Chris replied to my queries even on a public holiday. Chris was very helpful and even gave a discount off price. Dashcam was sent out next day. Had dashcam installed by autoelectrician. Dashcam is simple to operate, menu makes it easy to set up. Picture quality/viewing is very good. Viewing… Read more ·  1

recordings again is simple. Had query direct with DOD Australia customer service in W.A., received very quick response and also very helpful. Upgrades of firmware easy to also to adjust the orientation of the camera on its mount. Parking mode can be turned on.

Good camera but frustrating to have wrong info on website – Recently purchased this for my husband as a gift. Great dash cam and not cheap but really frustrating that I purchased a 64GB micro SD card WHICH IS RECOMMENDED on their website only to have to now buy a 32GB as it is NOT actually compatible!! WATCH this and do not be sucked into a larger SD card.  Show reply

Excellent dash camera – This is the second dash camera we have had. The first one was bought from a department store and packed up after 2 month. You can tell this one is made very well and it is very clear and easy to use. My partner purchased it from the choice magazine recommendations and it seems like everyone feels the same as me. High quality piece of technology.  Show reply

A very clear and high quality dash camera – Picked this up recently, for the money it's really easy to setup, great graphics, video is clear and crisp during the day and it is brighter than your eyes can see at night! Not sure how they do that but its amazing. I chose this model because choice mag rated it number 1 even though there were more expensive ones. Overall great buy. Recommend for anyone searching for a good quality dashcam.

2nd DOD dashcam and still happy – Second DOD Dashcam I own. I chose the LS470W this time because I needed really clear low light footage. After researching on the web, this came up the best. It has wide recording angle so you can record cars in blind spots. Only issue is only supports 32GB SD cards. Parking mode with motion detection works a treat. Recommend for anybody wanting an easy to use Dashcam.

Great product with many features – This camera works well and the picture is excellent. The controls are fairly straight forward and the camera is easy to set up to an individuals liking. I'm using a 64GB card in it as I'm on a long trip away for a few months. The suction pad mount is rock solid, I'm using it in a 4X4 with on and off road use. It takes good single shots if required… Read more

and the battery will last at least half an hour if you're playing around disconnected from 12Volts. The only thing that it does not do is stamp the GPS position on still photos - there's no facility for that in the menu, that's my only disappointment. Other than that it is great value for money and with its build quality, you can feel that it will last a long time.
