Dometic CFX3 95DZ

I would not touch another Dometic product of ANY sort. Bought a Dometic Fridge Freezer (Top of the Range) as reliability was key due to medical emergencies etc. Bearing in mind this unit was only used periodically. It lasted bang on 3 yrs (warranty period 3yrs). Do you think that Dometic were interested in my situation?? NO. Not in the least!!. Was told “your Fridge Freezer has broken down and is not repairable….. Sorry about that. So $2,100 + $300 for cover + accessories. All worth nothing now!!. Two other friends have had an identical experience and would never touch another Dometic product. Poor form Dometic.

Solid, reliable product – Date of Review: 2024 + Solid build from handles to lid to body. + can plug into mains power or 12v socket in car or on a battery case, with both cables simultaneously being attached to the fridge, so swapping power source is super quick. + Lets user know if voltage is too low to cool the contents down (eg if battery is not adequate). + large enough to fit an entire butchered sheep (and then some). We use it to sell cheese at markets, and it fits enough to make us a living.

+ Easy to access display to set desired temperature and to know actual internal temperature without opening lid.

+ Has internal baskets that allows air to circulate around contents and that can easily be lifted straight out with contents still in them.

+ Can set different temperatures for each of the two compartments.

+ very reliable. Have had it for 3 years, use it every week at the markets, and it is always ready to do what it does best with no issues.

- After a year or so the lids stopped locking in as easily as they used to. It still does a fine job with lids closed without being clicked in, but the clicking noise is reassuring for optimal efficiency. They still click in, but it’s a little more tedious to achieve (need to press lid down tight and push small latch in at the same time, and that usually clicks it in place).

- Expensive.

Update: 2025 The fridge is still working PERFECTLY. This is from an older, maybe a year or two older and that I bought second hand.

Just including this because it’s a common enough problem with these fridges, and to let you know that it’s possible to fix it if you’re a bit handy. One of the compartments kept reading 15-deg, after the other compartment had reached the desired 3-deg. So the first kept cooling all night… and froze the contents because it “thought” the temperature was 15-degrees when actually it was already cold. The thermostat was buggered. Just on its own… no bumps or falls or anything… but I don’t know how it was treated by previous owner - it seemed well looked after. I installed a new thermostat that I bought online for $30 or so, and following a YouTube video that someone made. It wasn’t super difficult, but it was fiddley and the process could have easily caused further problems to arise if I had been rough or careless. But in the end it was manageable and the fridge resumed cooling normally.
