Doublestar DS01 SUV Highway
2 reviews
Is it worthy? – I bought this tyre for my wife’s SUV. As an urgent replacement as her tyres were already unworthy for Rego renewal. Here is my review after driving it for the first 3,500kms or a month later. We drove this SUV with this new tyre for a long roadtrip to Melbourne from NSW over the Christmas holiday. I admit I was worried and nervous that this tyre might gave up. But NO. I even forgot that I paid $136/tyre on this. It’s a budget tyre and what makes it surprising is that it performs like a well-known brand!
Breakdown of my score on each category:
Dry grip: 3.5/5 Comfort: 4/5 Noise : 4/5 Wet: N/A haven’t driven on a wet conditions. Traction: 3.5/5 Braking distance : 3/5
It is quiet, smooth to drive. Initially it was bit hard and was bumpy at first long drive, checked the tyre pressure they were alright after a 100 kilometres, it was just fine. I guess needs a break-in? Im not sure. But with the price we paid for these? It is definitely worthy. I bought these through tyresales.com.au and it includes, fitting, balancing, tyre disposal and freight. I cannot yet comment on the treadlife or mileage but the treadwear rating states as 380. We’ll see how it goes and will have an update.
Purchased in at Tyresales.com.au.
- Tyre Pressure Used: 38 PSI
Good value and acceptable performance – On third set of these in the last 5 years on 2 different cars (Captiva and Lexus RX350) and very little to complain about. Compromise would be road noise noticably louder than the Pirelli's they replaced on the Lexus. Can live with that for half the price. Mileage and grip are acceptable (as long as not driven like a race car). Will continue to go with Doublestars in future subject to good pricing.
