Very disappointed with this $1600 product. A part fell off after the fifth use, and could not be re-fastened. I will need to get the unit replaced. My son has the same model, and the same thing happened to his vacuum. Although it works well, the quality of manufacture is very poor imo. Show details

new head would be delivered at no charge & would take a week or so to be delivered which I was fine with. A week later I was contacted by Dyson & advised that the new head was out of stock & could be months before it was available. They offered me a replacement of the same machine, but I had to pack the old one up, send it back to them and once they had it they would start the process of sending the new one out and that this process could take up to 3 weeks. I explained that I have MS & am wheelchair bound, I had nothing that I could pack the old vacuum into, could not physically do it & I also didn’t want to be without a vacuum for 3 weeks. I asked if I could give them my credit card # as security & that once the new machine arrived I would get my support worker to pack the old machine up & send it back. Dyson refused to do this, & would make no exception to help despite my disability. They have sent out an interim fix of the small head but it takes so long for the vacuuming to be done as it is tiny. After 2 months I contacted Dyson to see when the replacement oversized head would be available & was advised that they had no ETA & would only offer the same replacement that would leave us without a vacuum for up to 3 weeks. Given the price of these machines this is poor customer service & to make no allowances for a persons handicap is certainly not what I expected of what is supposed to be a premium brand. I wonder how many others have had issue with these faulty heads.

improve when we adjusted the air intake on the head, but this also meant less suction ... Their is no separate crevice tool for the stick vacuum part; just an inbuilt one on the smaller hand held unit. That crevice tool is not pointy/thin enough for what I wanted and it also contains holes which reduce the suck - unhelpful. I have had this unit for a year now and it is 'stalling' less, thinking this is because the carpet is now older and 'flatter'. I got this unit via a friend of a friend and when I complained about it he agreed and said that everyone who works in his store gets the LG stick vacuum; as it works really well and is MUCH better value for money. I wish he'd told me this when I asked him to get me a Dyson!!

Very Disappointing Purchase and Support from Dyson EBay!!!!!!!!!!!!!! – I am writing this Review with older members of our community in mind. first thing that I noticed was the weight of this machine. Much heavier than my previous Dyson and when using it for an extended period of time, it became an issue with my wrist aching. I had not noticed anywhere on the Dyson Website any mention of just how heavy this machine is. I then went to use the digital Motorbar attachment to clean the carpeted bedrooms, and after about 2 minutes, I turned the machine off due to the excessive noise. At first I thought that there may have been some cardboard still in this attachment, but after checking I didn't find anything. I then gave it a second try and the exact same issue - excessive noise unlike any vacuum I have owned previously. I then did some research online (Which I should have done before the purchase) and there were a number of negative reviews relating to both the weight and the noise of the Motorbar. I then went Online to Dyson Customer Support via Messenger. The people that I spoke to were extremely helpful and eventually offered to replace the Motorbar to see if I actually had a faulty one. We went back and forth until I decided that I would look to replace this machine with the Gen5 Detect and overcome the issues of Weight and noise. I was instructed to Contact Dyson Ebay, as that is where I made my purchase. The Dyson Support then went down hill from that point. They kept saying that it was a Change of Mind Request whereas I continually pointed out both the issues. They stood the Dyson Line and would not budge!! To say that I was disappointed was an understatement!! I had sent the packaging to recycling. If I was to send this machine back to Dyson, not sure how I would do this without packaging, they would issue a refund. This process could take 2 weeks+. They would not honor what I paid against another machine (I had purchased this machine on a sale), so I would basically be out of pocket another $800.00. I would also be without a working vacuum for at least 3 weeks, taking into account the Return then the re-purchase. Disappointed with Dyson EBay's responses!! They just towed the line and gave no consideration to the issues. They even said at one point - "To confirm, the machine has two motors in it, one in the head, one one in the handheld unit. Both work together to clean your floors. While there is nowhere saying that depending on setting, the head could be louder than the machine, this query wasn't asked prepurchase (as we have no information about noise of the machine on our eBay listing at all)."

How insulting to assume that I would suspect this machine was going to be SO LOUD!!!!!

Thanks for your understanding, caring and recognition of loyalty Dyson - NOT!!!!

This will most probably bring a long time association with Dyson Australia to an END!!!

Purchase at your own risk ..................................

AND Please Dyson - Don't bother coming back to me with "We would like you to contact Dyson Support, where we will try and help you resolve this matter!!" - I have already tried both with Contacting your Online Dyson Support and Contacting your EBay Online Support!!!

Very disappointed – Brand new and power head makes a dreadful noise and stops spinning on carpet. Dysons solution is for me to wait at least 4 weeks until stock is back in. Only reason I purchased this was because my original dyson outsize also has faulty power head which dyson has been refusing to restock. Show details

Warning!! additional spare battery is not included in the Australia shipped boxes – While we are overall very happy with our GEN5 OUTSIZE cleaner, (does a fantastic job), one aspect of the sales and marketing really sticks with me. During my search of details and review videos of the outsize, I was led to believe that the product would be shipped with an additional (spare ) battery. there was only ONE battery provided.

After now looking further, I discover that the product sold in the Australian market are a cut down offering compared to other countries where obviously the videos and specifications came from and misled me.

Considering the price for this vacuum cleaner, I feel that the removal of the additional battery for marketing purposes has left me with a feeling of being duped.

While I understand Dyson may offer excuses that they have no control over overseas content, it is not the best experience. To have to now spend an over priced additional $209 to buy what I believed was included, makes this an overpriced purchase.

floor with this product how effective it is at removing dust, dirt and even works superbly to remove all traces of pet hair. Works great on hard or soft floors, just attach the soft head for hard floors that are prone to scratches and your set. Comes with lots of handy little attachments for various uses. Very impressed with this machine and will continue using at home and also for our cleaning business.
