I don't spend a lot of money on appliances, but this one was absolutely worth the splurge. I will never regret this purchase. It is smooth and effective on both tile and carpet. I even use it to vacuum my car.

I use my vacuum on a bit of carpet but mostly boards. I am just so disapointed in this product, not working at the moment and been told it needs a new battery, $129. I hardly use it as I have a house cleaner and live on my own, so for it to need a new battery is crazy. Like other customers, battery doesn't last long and flicks out dirt as well. Would never recommend anyone buying this. My daughter and daughter in law have the Dyson V10 and say the same thing, for the money you spend it should last and work better.

Used mostly on tiles and occasional rugs. Flicks large chunks backwards on tiles, rather than collecting them. Battery only lasts around 8mins on high.
Burns out quickly after 18 months

Purchased a Dyson V7 end December 2019. Used periodically (circa once a week with some extended periods of non -use. Has gone from a battery charge runtime of 30-35 minutes to currently 9 seconds. Total rubbish and will not buy another Dyson product.

Battery Discharge after light charge indicator goes off if kept plugged exactly after 2 years ownership
This is the second Dyson we own, and exactly like it's predecessor, 2 years after using it, it somehow triggers a fuse somewhere to drain the battery after the charging light goes off, if I unplug the Dyson as soon as the light goes off, the battery will hold the charge for days and can vacuum 3 rooms, on the other hand if I leave the Vacuum plugged after the light goes off say for couple hours it will fully discharge while plugged, This now have left me with Zero doubt that this is by design from Dyson, this is my second Dyson to exhibit the same behavior, also other users here had similar experiences.
I will never buy again this brand that treats it's customers like this!

This is terrible. After only few weeks of purchase battery died. It’s does now last even 5 min. It keeps pulsating even after charging and and dies complete after few minutes. My earlier one works better even after 6 years. Dyson used to be a good company but now their quality is very bad. I won’t recommend Dyson at all now.

Decent suction and the freedom of cordless is great but the battery does not last long at all. I’ve had mine for less than a year and now the battery is down to about 20 seconds. Utterly useless now and Dyson are so slow at coming back to me regarding this issue: my advice - for the money buy another brand.

The vacuum worked well on floor boards . As expected for the price and brand . Given that it was purchased less then 2 years ago and has broken down you would expect that it would last longer considering the premium brand and price.

Works ok but battery life sux .
Used once month for 5 minutes at a time for less than 3 years before battery died, so under 3 hours total use(holiday house).
Dyson charge $129 for replacement battery, thankfully cheaper elsewhere($40).
Tossed my first dyson stick when battery died and replaced it with another(stupid idea) when it too died at 2 years I found I could purchase a new battery and it worked again (that one is still working well after 4 plus years with 3rd party battery).
Dyson should tell their customers to expect to change their batteries every 2 years and their filters yearly.
Otherwise their customers will either waste another $400-1200 on a new one or will vow to never buy another one and go with a competitor.

I felt like my cheaper hand held wasn’t doing a good enough job. When the Dyson turned up I put it straight on my rug and it picked up enough cat hair to make a pillow. It’s brilliant on my hard floors too. A great buy!

We purchased this vac when my child was born. So much easier than having to get out our large Miele.
Works really well on both floorboards and rugs. Battery runs for about 20 mins which is enough to do lower level of our house. We have had ours for 5 years now and when we had an issue a year ago with the battery we found the service beyond amazing. Will definitely purchase again but for now ours is still going strong.

I had Dyson corded one before which I still love. Handling the cords and weight is a task in itself. You need times of quick clean with no mess and with no hassle. That is where my V7 comes in handy! I keep it at a charging station in my house, and as soon need to do a clean task I go grab it. No 2nd time cleaning is required as suction is so good. Usually cordless ones needs to be moved a few times before they clean a certain area, but not with the case with this. Also, one time.full.house gets good clean before I require to empty the pot.

No I don’t think that’s normal. Mine are still there.
Sorry I think gave wrong model as that was one before. It is the V7 animal & brush has red bristles & softer black ones which have all nearly gone on purple roller. Thankyou.
Thanks for the clarification about your machine being a Dyson V7™ Animal.
The bristles on the brush bar consist of two types of fibres. The coloured bristles are made of nylon, the black carbon fibre...
Read more bristles have anti static properties and their function is to collect fine dust from hard floor. With the fineness of these bristles and the material's brittle nature they may wear slightly faster than the nylon ones, particularly when used on rougher surfaces, however we include more of these on the brush bar to help counteract this effect. If it gets to the point where pick up of fine dust on hard floor is reduced that's when we'd suggest replacing the brush bar.Get an answer from our members and Dyson representatives

The V7 shares many of the same features as other Dyson vacuum cleaners, but is less advanced. For instance, the V11 boasts a 60-minute running time, whereas the V7 runs for only 30 minutes before needing to be recharged.
Features:
- Two power options: Max Mode offers a stronger suction, and Powerful Mode provides extended usage
- The V7 series is made up of two different vacuum cleaners; the V7 Motorhead and the V7 Cord-free
- The two vacuum cleaners in this series are pretty much identical. At $599 each, they share the same price and features, with the only difference being the filtration system – unlike the V7 Cord-free, the V7 Motorhead uses a whole machine filtration system.
- The V7 offers a 10-min improvement over the V6, with a total running time of 30 mins
Points to consider about this vacuum:
- The 30-min running time meant that many people had to stop to recharge often. However, some reviewers did mention that they thought that the vacuum charged quite rapidly.
- Friendly and helpful customer service was a recurring point of praise. If there were any issues, it was simple as making a phone call to receive a new replacement part or to have assistance with troubleshooting any problems.
- Reviewers reported buying the newer V8 and V11 vacuums (whether in conjunction or as a replacement), which might indicate that this series might begin to be phased out at some point. So if you’ve got your eye set on purchasing a V7, you should probably buy one soon.
