Disappointing for the price. Lasted a couple of years. Designed to fail. Uncomfortable grip. First the battery charger failed, so bought a replacement. Then the battery failed so bought a replacement. Then it stopped working again so I threw it in the bin. My DeWalt power tools are still working (just) on 15 year old original batteries. Show details
I bought this years ago from bigw, it’s the most frustrating appliance in the house . Thought spend more $ for a good vac DYSON lmao. I hate soo much but have to put up with it’s no battery life and no suction power as I paid a lot for it . Not… Read more
fair Dyson should have been recalled. Kmart $50 vacuum has more power and if it dies you can throw it out , but this one omg $499 Not Fair.

Operationally a great vacuum cleaner. Trouble is it's never operational. From day 1 it had an appalling run time (a few minutes). Now (three years in) run time is about 10 seconds on normal and 1 second on Max mode. Dyson shrug and treat you to a lecture on batteries, basically saying they don't care. Never heard of a Dyson battery being replaced for free.

Range topping Dyson V7 with a 40 minute battery – The V7 takes the backache out of vacuuming. For nearly 1.5 years, I cleaned (with the second gen V7) houses ridden with fine dust, pet dander, pet hair and so on… and mess after mess. Only around 15-18 months did I need to service the floor head. Keep in mind (with the intensity of cleaning) just how impressive this is. I was well aware before I… Read more · 1
bought this of the power of cordless Dyson's and so my expectations were cautious. But it didn’t let me down.
V7 EVOLUTION While this is the third incarnation of the model, Dyson initially had a V7 without a HEPA filter (grey top) before later adding a purple/blue HEPA filter. If you suffer from allergies or asthma etc, with the filters offered, it made sense to buy a V7. These days, it has a silver cyclone with an easier to access filter (star shaped) and an improved motorbar with de-tangling vanes. Like the V8, the V7 Advanced model has a 40 min battery plus 3 lights, exclusive to this machine.
CLEANING / MAINTENANCE If you clean your machine and maintain it as per Dyson's support, in terms of technology and performance, it’s impressive how far they will go and how much they will do. For example, wash your filters, use max power sensibly when needed, remove blockages and tap the cyclone to dislodge fine dust when emptying the bin.
HEPA FILTRATION On earlier V7s, only the Animal pro had a HEPA filter. The newer V7s swapped the grey top for a purple/blue HEPA filter. Trapping 9.99% of microscopic particles such as allergens, pollens, skin cells and pet hair (down to 0.3 microns) fancy words are matched by vacuuming actions, testified to by your bin, cyclone and filter when cleaned.
TOOLS This Advanced Origin model features a combination brush tool, which is excellent for gathering debris from surfaces, the car or pet stations, pillows, stairs and so on. It is also good for light brushing over smaller areas; this is terrific for clearing allergens, as disposing of these straight away rather than spreading the dust into the air or onto the floor and then vacuuming is a great option. Best still, no Dyson vacuum is better than a V7, V8 or V12 for this, as while the others may have stronger suction, they aren't as light. Be sure to look at other tooling options (purchase separately) offered if you want a specific solution -- e.g. a mattress tool, a soft dusting brush for keyboards etc. For example, cleaning a deep cupboard to remove debris and dust will work with a combi tool, but a crevice tool will provide the length and reach you need.
FLEXIBILITY Since I was a kid, cleaning at a friend of my dads with a upright Dyson was in the blood, but admittedly I wasn’t going to be able to do multiple houses with it. So the cordless V7 was a game changer for professional cleaners. Skirting, surfaces, draws, floors… you name it! The V7 enabled cleaners to work independently without lugging a brilliant but behemoth vacuum around.
PARTS AND LABOUR Buy new as well; parts and labour are covered for a year and an additional one if you register.
SUMMARY If you are taking your first cordless steps, the V7 offers lightness, flexibility and solid power. If you only have a small place or the kids have moved out, rather than the extra power and battery of the V8, the V7 may better suit your needs. Coupled with the HEPA filtration for health, the ease of use and the flexibility as a handheld, this remains a sound cordless vacuum that is a must try.
Second lemon of 3 different dud models sadly – Not to the Dyson standard I was used to since their release in au and the only brand I would invest in since 1999. Replaced with an absolute shocker V8. 3 lemons in a row all different models, makes it hard to consider risking another expensive waste of money. Service however is absolutely second to none in Melbourne. Quality of product is sadly… Read more
from my past 3 purchases is terrible, brushes wear out quickly on the head, blocking is way too easy, plastic is not what I’d expect from Dyson and breaks easily, battery deterioration is faster than expected

Poor performance, endless frustration – I purchased the Dyson V7 from Bunnings Kingaroy reduced from $649 to $399 in November 2023. I have had endless troubles with it. Consulting Dyson customer service was of zero benefit. I have just on weekend returned it to Bunnings for a refund which they gladly provided. The problems I had were: 1. The dust container /canister opened randomly… Read more
spilling the entire vacuumed contents on the floor 2. The suction was extremely low, causing me to chase around over and over the same area on my tiles endlessly 3. Things that were drawn up into the wand and power head fell out again when the battery stopped. 4. Harder items such as spilt coffee beans vacuumed, shot out like missiles in a zillion tiny pieces all over the floors causing even more mess & more time to clean & more distress 5. Changing over to the light brush attachment was useless for cleaning dead flys or dust from window sills. No suction at all. I ended up sweeping the sills with a baby bottle brush and picking up in paper towel. 6. Vacuuming carpet was better than vacuuming tiles but still weak suction. 7. The power mode switch only worked randomly part way through the vacuum house task but it made a choking noise and stopped every time. I eventually stopped using that function. On investigation and inspection nothing was stuck, the filter clean, nothing interfering with the expected performance as the non power switch worked without the choking noise.
The good things about it was cleaning the filter and it was easy to charge the vacuum with charging station. I liked pulling the dirt bin handle from the top because you don’t have to take off the wand to do it like Dysons other models, albeit the random opening of the V7 dirt canister.

Couldn't live without my Dyson stick vac! – I finally bought a Dyson stick vacuum and can honestly say it's the best vacuum I have ever owned! I bought the V7 advanced origin from bunnings, it is so lightweight and easy to use with powerful suction. I used to get a sore back from dragging my old vac around and this is a game changer! The house is done in no time and no cords to trip over! I highly recommend a Dyson stick. Show details · 1
makes cleaning a breeze! – This is light weight and easily maneuverable. Works really well on my carpets and hardwood floor. Picks up long hair. Attractive looking as well. Doesn't take too long to charge and battery lasts satisfactory. Came with a small brush head which makes it great for cars and sofas. Wish it came with wall mounting options though. Show details · 2

Some design flaws – When we bought this stick vacuum cleaner, we were told, it performs on hardfloor as well as on carpet. Unfortunately, this is not the case. We use this vacuum primarily for vacuuming litter around our litter boxes on a tile floor. You have to go over the same spot 2 or 3 times to get everything. Where it shines is on our pet futons, tablecloth and… Read more
beds. It removes the pet fur very well. We don't have carpets on our floors, so I can't comment on that. But I suspect it does a good job on carpet as well. After vacuuming you have to be carefull, not to tilt the dust container to much to the front. Especially the solid, hard parts will fall back out of the cleaner. Lighter parts, like hair or fur will remain. The handle of the vacuum could be a bit more ergonomically designed. After cleaning for a few minutes, my hands start to hurt. Noiselevel from this vacuum is also quite high, without using even the turbo setting. The battery life, I think is sufficient. You don't use this vacuum as your main vacuum. All in all, I think there are a few flaws in the design, but nothing which makes it unusable.

It sucks – Tried a few cheaper ones but they failed to pick up some rice on solid floor in our does it work test. The v7 performs easily picking up even bread clips that our plug in doesn't. We use for around the house mainly the kitchen for crumbs etc not liquid spills and also in-between full vacuums with our plug in as we have deep pile and large house.… Read more
It still does a decent clean on deep pile thou and would be all you need for a low pile carpet and perfect for small 2 bed, granny, or unit. Battery easily does our large house even on high but I'm thinking of the battery cycles and longevity in a large home. The battery is built into the unit and has to be plugged in after use or it goes flat. It hangs neatly behind our laundry door. We had a PowerPoint put in see photo. We'll built and easy to manover. Has led to warn when battery going flat and re charge is quick. Has low suction switch for hard floor areas and we use high for quick carpet tidy. It takes a fraction of the time then our plug in and easier for under beds etc. The head and filter is designed for easy cleaning. Had it for a few years now and it also gets used alot for quick car cleans with ideal attachments. Only downside you may not like is the button as it does not lock but easy to hold down. It Chokes on socks and bras. Recommended and worth the extra dollars.
A Dyson vacuum that didn’t disappoint – I have owned quite a few different brands of handheld vacuums. My first a few years ago was a Dyson. I’m comparison the other brands worked but for some reason the outcome was not satisfying. I thought enough is enough or trialling and to stick with a brand I have previously been happy with. I own two beautiful felines and so the Animal V7 Dyson… Read more
was the appropriate choice. The cost was very reasonable. Aware it was not the top of their range, yet I am very satisfied with my purchase. I have also been renovating a unit and took the leap of faith believing that the Dyson I had purchased would be strong and durable enough to withstand the constant use of cleaning up after each project. ✅ It also has great ability to collect all pet dander. The battery charge allows for a good amount of time for use. It was easy to assemble. The emptying of the waste fill container is definitely hands free which was a major priority for me and it definitely allowed a hands free motion. I am someone who likes to multi task and to be honest there have been several times the vacuum has dropped as I did not securely have it leaning on a wall properly. It is as tough as nails. I hope that quote is done correctly. Once again I am a happy Dyson handheld vacuum owner.
I have carpet as well as timber and some tiles. Very versatile. And very capable of tasks required.

Best Vacuum out! – I absolutely love my Dyson V7, why didn't I buy it sooner. No more lugging a heavy cleaner around. It cleans my two-bedroom apartment immaculately without losing the charge. It's done in a flash and I'm a a very fussy person, well done Dyson! Show details · 1

Budget entry Dyson handheld vacuum. Great performance with limited battery life – As title suggested, this V7 version is great! It has powerful suction, However, it basic or limited battery life. I got this handheld for my birthday/ house warming. Pretty happy but next time I will get V10 or V15 instead for longer battery life and extra features. Show details
Best money ever spent – We have 2 cats and the amount of hair from them alone is unbelievable. Being able to just pick this dyson up and do a quick vac every couple of days, if not daily, is amazing!! This has the best suction power and it is so easy to empty. I use this on carpet, tiles and lino and it is superb on every surface. Show details

Batteries keep failing – High price but batteries continue to fail. They are supposed to have a 2 year warranty but in my experience they fail about every 6-8months. Cute thing is when they replace the battery you do not get a full guarantee but just what is left on your original guarantee from purchase, i.e after the initial 2 years you are looking at paying $140 every… Read more
6 months or so just to keep it working. Definitely not value for money. Have had a number of Dysons and quality has plummeted. Lots of competitors in the market now and suggest you try them as Dyson are resting on their laurels.

Should Have Returned it – Have Persevered with this for 8 months now, after Recharging every 7 minutes of use.. it needs to be used on full power if you want it to be of any use. I should have Returned it as Not Suitable for Purpose.
Got a dog? forget it – Dog hair will clog this vac up very quickly. The cleaner to the stick has an almost 90% corner which continually jams up with rubbish. Amazed that a good product developer could engineer such rubbish. The motor head spends more time flicking rubbish out in all directions rather than sucking it up. Throw a handful of rice on a carpet and watch the fun. For fine particles this is ok but introduce dog hair then forget it. Show details

An underperformer in battery life – Battery ran down not long after purchase so it has been sitting idle in the corner for several years. The vacuum was OK initially but I had to keep recharging it to be able to clean the whole house. Had another Dyson which had a cord but was super hence thought this one would be of the same quality but I was wrong. Stay away from this model as it was a waste of money. Show details

Useless battery – Battery absolutely not fit for purpose. Degrades to almost zero run time just out of warranty period. Product support is slow and useless and replacement batteries are almost half the cost of a machine despite being ridiculously low capacity Show details
Poor battery life – Like other reviewers, I can only get 10 minutes of battery life on carpet, on high setting with a fully clear dust/fur catcher. It is still only 6 months old. This was bought for us as a gift due to our Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal Plus having inadequate suction to remove dog hair from carpet. Unfortunately 2 strikes for Dyson......... you know the rest. Such a shame when a product fails to deliver on its brand promise! Show details

Not happy with Dyson advanced V7 – Purchased the Dyson Advanced V7 stick vacuum approximately 15 months ago & I find it won't keep charge for very long, gets blocked easily, having to empty it more often than not, poor quality compaired to the V6 animal, which did a good job lasting me over 6 years without a problem, plus you need to buy extra parts for the V7, as the V6 parts will… Read more
not fit V7, does a quick vac, but forget dog fur, it gets stuck in the top of the stick all the time, would not buy again, will buy a different brand next time
It is such a shame that I spent nearly $500 on a piece of crap!
Really poor product – Very bad for elbows as it’s heavy at the top (no I’m not elderly) and has almost no suction. If it weren’t for the spinning brush it would do nothing. After 12 months light use the head sensor switches it on off randomly even though it’s clean. Really rubbish, I prefer the 5 yr old Aldi stick cleaner (and that’s no good but it’s better than this!!!) Show details

Started great… now not so great! – Purchased our first ever Dyson 14 months ago & now it’s battery only last 10-15mins on max and the motor heats up while vacuuming, which is right above the handle so my hand feels the heat. Still going strong after 3 years – Still picking up after 3 years of everyday use. I have 2 complaints about this vacuum Complaint 1. it doesn't always do a great job of picking up crumbs and larger debris, it sometimes spits them out. Complaint 2 it wont die! I want a new one with the fancy LED display and pretty lights but this thing just keeps going and going Show details · 1
Love the design but doesn't always 'suck' – I have always been a fan of Dyson but after a few months of using the V7 cord free, the suction is slowly diminishing. ( Yes I clean the filters monthly) it is like the battery and suction system start to work less over time which is a shame. Positives are that it is completely cordless and doesn't take long to get to a full charge but I am now… Read more

A great vacuum – Our old vacuum had died and Dyson have a good name so I purchased a V7 on-line as it was about $200 cheaper than from a store. It arrived and the operating instructions were fairly simple to understand. We have wood floors throughout and a big hairy dog who drops so much hair I'm surprised she is not going bald. floors so a good test for the vacuum. It works extremely well and no dog can be seen after a quick vacuum. Cleaning out the vacuumed hair is very simple. The battery life of approx. 30 mins can be a bit of a pain but otherwise we are very happy with the V7.
Amazing Product and added assistance – I purchased the Dyson V7 for our new home and found it to be a perfect vacuum cleaner for not only our floorboards but the carpets also with the boost power function. It is much better than my previous vacuum cleaners Additional online support and care and maintaining emails are an added bonus. Highly recommend. Show details
