Dyson V16 Piston Animal Cordless Vacuum 496018-01

The Dyson v16 is a very good stick vacuum overall with great suction and easy to use features. The emptying feature is fantastic and the battery lasts a long time. All great features we look forward to in a stick vacuum however unlike other models leading up to this V16 model, this new model has an issue. The Dyson V16 has a high pitched whistle which after a short time drives you nuts!! After spending a good 2 hours on the phone with Dyson sending videos and pics, they requested I drive to their service outlet to have it looked at. This is where the service headed down hill. Service agent at the counter told us that’s the way it is and there was nothing they could do. We then switched on their floor stock model and it also had the same annoying whistle. We then tried the other models and… nothing! No whistle. So I reported our visit back to Dyson and they wanted us to send it to Sydney via post. Now I advised them how that would go from vast experience with products that have an issue. The unit would be assessed and sent back with the same whistle with someone claiming they couldn’t hear or fault it. They finally said well you have a sales contract with a seller so go and see what they can do. Washed their hands of it!

At this stage we are wearing headphones to vacuum the floors however these large companies straight away get their backs up when you point out an issue. What they lose in this is that their community of users are trying to help them become better. Helping them via use to advise them that a product can be better if they just accept the issue, own it and fix it. The respect they would get from this action would no doubt increase their status and trust as a company. In the end that’s more sales. However putting up their guard and not addressing the issue works against them.

I hope they see this review and address the issue front on as that’s one of the reasons we post reviews.
