Won’t buy Electrolux again – Purchased an Electrolux Rangehood some years ago it lasted just over a year when the fan started randomly going higher on its own when we had it on low now it is turning on by itself in the middle of the night customer service don’t care so the best thing now is not to support them with future purchases

It started with the Rangehood – Bought this unit as a package (rangehood, oven, dishwasher, all black glass fronted) 2 years later the range started turning on full extraction fan in the middle of the night. Tried to contact Electrolux but went around in circle's. Managed to put up with it by turning the main power off, but ended up buying another exact unit to match the kitchen. By year 4.5 both the dishwasher and range had died ! Haven't had either going for over 3 years now, as a small household we don't use them much and only miss them when my parents visit. Tried to google repair solutions, even tried to change out the sensor unit. when I replace these it will be with another brand and I will get the Harvey Norman extended warranty.

Purchased for $8,000.

Would not buy Electrolux again – Purchased this rangehood. When fitting it to the wall it was found that there was no tee piece for fitting the system as recirculating . Rang Electrolux and was told this was an optional extra. It was explained that it would not work correctly without it and they did not care. I was told to buy one from their outlets only to be told there are none in Australia and I would have to wait a month. NOT HAPPY

Good value canopy rangehood – We have been looking for a suitable rangehood and as soon as we saw this model, we knew this is it. The price is quite reasonable for this rangehood as most others in this price range have only buttons instead of touch control. We are looking for a rangehood that has strong extraction and quiet operation. We found that these 2 criteria are not complementary of each other.

We looked at the mid range Miele, circa $1500 and found that it is very quiet but it sadly lacks power. We do a lot of stir fry cooking so it is imperative we have strong extraction. And then we looked at the SMEG around the $1000 mark and found that they have strong extraction but noisy (eg. the SMEG CXA900.. something like that sounded a little noisier than this model but it has more extraction than this Electrolux).

In the end, we settled for this Electrolux as it looks stylist and has touch control. I wouldn't call this quiet but it is ok. The Lo setting is good for most things and it is relatively quiet. Once you stepped it into Med/Hi then it can be noisy but the extraction is obviously strong. I have come to accept noise as a tradeoff for extraction power - unless of course you go with one that locate the extraction fan into the ceiling cavity - something we don't want to do as it would mean the installation would be very complicated for our 2 storey house where the kitchen is in the ground floor.

All in all quite happy with the purchase. We installed it ourselves and it is relatively straightforward. The light globes are 40W halogen with an E14 base. We will buy LED globes to replace that.

For those interested in energy consumption, here is what our consumption meter (without turning on the lights) is telling us.

1. Standby 0.9 Watt (unlike a button model, touch model does consume standby electricity!!!)

2. Lo 200 Watt

3. Mid 255 Watt

4. Hi 315 Watt

I am a little surprised with these figures but I have nothing else to compare to.

We couldn't find where the unit is manufactured looking through the box and manufactured labels so my presumption is it is made in China due to price point and we found the quality very good. Stylish and strong extraction A little noisy on Hi but most other brands are the same .....
