Elna 2800 / 2600

Best mechanical sewing machine – I borrowed this Elna SP2800 from my mum who doesn't use it due to her macular problem. I just wanted to make some curtains & cushions for our spare room for Xmas guests. This little machine is a really good workhorse, no problems at all. My Bernina computerised machine is getting a service at the moment & reckon this Elna is a great backup. So glad mum reminded me she had it, a little gem.

Excellent – I bought this Elna because 25 years ago I bought an Elna Stella Airt electronic with my first pay cheque and it had only just given upo on me!...Being a machinist by trade I put that poor machine through some tough work, so I knew that Elna was a reliable make, happy to continue I just merely wanted to replace my old Elna and not do fancy embroidery work so I bought the Elna 2800 Machine. Which is really designed for the beginner in mind. I would definately recommend it as a first sewing machine, or for those who are not confident sewers as it has a basic layout, easy thread layout, reversing button, and is fast and easy to set up and sew! Easy to use, Compact, Lightweight and great for beginners to sewing! I taught my 9 year old to sew on it! she made a rag doll! With only a basic range of 25 stitches, this machine is designed for begginners. I wouldn't recommend it for advanced users who are wanting to expand into the craft side of things. Yes it does have decorative stitches, but only the basic ones and some stretch stitches as well.
