Worst experience I've had in 50 years of sewing – I bought this machine new as I wanted an over locker that does a cover stitch. Has been in repair shop almost continuously over the first 3 years of warranty. Over locks well but still not able to do a cover stitch without trouble. Now timing has slipped. Don't think that it's worth taking back to be repaired yet again. Very disappointing as I sew almost every day. Continually borrowing a friends over locker.

perfect machine – I bought this machine second hand and I am really happy with it . I run a dressmaking business working with the shops . This machine does everything it should do perfectly. I have several Janome overlockers and to be honest this is the best one for reliability so I have no problems recommending this one to any one. It is a good machine if you know what you are doing .I have worked in this trade for over thirty years and would only ever have Janome or Elna brands as I don't think much of the other brands of machines when it come to reliability or service
What a horrible experience! – I am so disappointed with this machine! I have had it for 4 years and have had no end of trouble with it. It had been in to the service people 3 times already. One being Elna itself. The last real sewing I did with it, which was a hem took 4 hours! Unpicking, redoing, unpicking, puckering etc. The whole needle assembly broke off 2 years ago. Pretty poor I thought. There are design faults, such as the presser foot lever works the opposite way that all other machines do. I bought another brand overlocker 18 months ago, oh what a beauty, and now having read reviews on that brand am seriously thinking of buying the coverstitch machine. Unfortunately, what will I do with this other lemon? I don't feel I can sell it knowing it's background. It looks pretty Poor design, some stitches just don't work properly

I've finally been given an answer to ne of it's problems. The machine foot pedal doesn't work when machine turned on and lights up. Seems that this model (only) has an idiosyncracy in that the preeser foot level slips off it's race and has to be adjusted to allow foot control to reconnect. Sounds bizarre but it works. Told not to lift the presser foot which is very difficult when turning corners so now I do curved corners. I've given up on using it to coverstitch as have problems when changing back to other stitches . Solution was to buy a separate coverlock machine.
