Engel Reliability and Warranty Service Disappointing – I bought this fridge based on apparent quality and reputation as I had an Engel fridge previously and it lasted a reasonable amount of time, and worked well. This unit has now failed after 18 months and has not even been really used. I returned it to the retailer as it is still under warranty, however was referred back to a service agent, who has advised it will require a new cooling unit to be installed. Upon checking there are only 3 service agents covering the whole Melbourne area (50km radius) Engel now expect me to take to a service agent (at my own time and cost) which is a 2 hour round trip and I will need to make another trip again to collect, when it is (eventually) repaired. That will be 4+ hours of my time - I should be able to return through the retailer for a warranty repair. If Engel have such minimal product support, they should have to manage the logistics. I'm not happy with the product failing or the Engel attitude (so far) to making good on a warranty matter - which should not have been necessary for a premium priced product that has hardly been used. Engel should either replace the fridge or arrange to collect, repair and return to me.

Purchased in at Macpac Physical store for $1,799.

Update: Fridge was repaired under warranty - compressor had seized (after only 18 months?) Service Agent was very helpful, however I still had to do the running around to drop-off and collect. No help from Engel and no apology for premature failure of their product.

Expensive for what you get – I payed over $1700 for my Engel MT-V60 Combi, the temp in the fridge section is pre-set with no adjustment and most of the time it sits between 3 & 6 Deg when you have the freezer on -6 deg, with the freezer set to max it gets down to around 2 deg, nothing it front of the fan, day time ambient temperature mid twenties. With the single lid the freezer frosts up quicker than if it had two lids. There's no light in either side of the fridge and no thermometer in the fridge side to tell you the temperature. I use this fridge for camping and not yet used it in hot temperatures but so far the power consumption is good.

Purchased in at BCF for $1,798.
