Unbeatable unreliability – I am SO disappointed and disillusioned by Engel Australia. Bought a brand new fridge from a very well known, national, outdoor shop. 3 weeks after I bought this supposedly “excellence in reliability” fridge it started making a weird noise. Straight after, it started getting noisier and noisier. Took it back to said retailer (who were extremely… Read more
helpful). Sent me to a local warranty repairer. This was middle of April. It is now 26 July. Still no fridge. Contacted Engel 3 weeks ago. As unhelpful and poor, poor service as you can imagine. I am just so disappointed. A prime brand. This will be my 1st… and last Engel.
Never a problem at all – I've had my engle now for many years it's been rolled around in the back of the car subjected to extreme heat and still works as the day I purchased it on either 12 volts or 240 volts I guess by other reviews I've just scored a good one and I'm sure it will remain to be a good one for many years to come Show details
Highly Misleading Slogan of "Legend in Reliability" – $1500 Fridge failed after 3 years & 4 months. Original quote to replace cooling system was approx $1000, then Engel offered to lower the repair cost to $500 approx. Highly misleading slogan of "Legend in Reliability". I would rate 0 stars if I could. Show details
Not built to last – we brought a brand new mt60f Engel fridge/freezer in 2014. It’s had minimal use and always kept in its protective bag. We recently had problems and contacted our local service agent. The repair price was ENORMOUS! More than we paid for the fridge itself. Since this happened we have heard ours wasn’t the only one to have done this! You pay a… Read more
premium price for a product that is supposedly faultless and we have had no end to our disappointment! Wouldn’t buy again
Engel is the worst run company on earth – Reviews will rave about their quality and in house production. Sounds good until you have a problem. Engel believes their products are too good to fail, and have no warranty support whatsoever. I have been waiting over two years for a control module which failed within months so I can fix it myself. I strongly recommend not buying any Engel products Show details
Worked well until a few months out of warranty, then stoped. Engel just made excuses. Not the quality they used to be – Unit was 6 months out of warranty and stopped working on 240v. Engel just ran with a couple of loose reasons blaming dirty power, which the unit has never seen. They was an obvious lack of interest to back there product and this was evident in the tone of their emails. I purchased and paid the premium price for a reliable fridge that would go the… Read more
distance and unfortunately they just don’t seem to be the quality of what the old ones were.
What a disappointment!
So convenient & works well – Ours is permanently fixed in our car with a slider, its so convenient when i do the groceries during by lunch break and have to go back to work (i live out of town), dont have to lug the cold stuff into the work fridge. The only downfall is during the middle of summer, it cant keep up with the heat, but i cant blame it, temps inside a car on a 30+ day would be crazy. All in all, very happy. Show details
Ours is just really noisy – I have always had Engels and no dramas with all the other fridges we have owned but this fridge freezer 60 lt combo we have is so noisy we have the fridge in the car and it keeps us awake in the caravan what could I do to fix this Show details
Using as a spare beer fridge when not camping – Use it camping with frozen and cold stuff keeps everything very cold. Very quiet. Seals well, great in the 4wd for trips but too heavy to lift in and out very often. Use as a spare fridge when not camping. Well worth the investment if you camp at powered sites. Show details
Looking to go elsewhere – Purchased this Engel 57 combi about 3 years ago in 2015. Very poor design on engels behalf. If the freezer side is set warmer than -4°C, the fidge compartment fluctuates between 4 to 6°C which is far too hot and everything inside rotts after a few days. Freezer set at about -8 will give you a good fridge temp of 0°C, but still has the… Read more
potential to freeze tomatoes and lettuce etc if they are stored infront of the fan.
Freezer set at -18°c and the fridge will float between -2 and -8 which desrtroys everything in the fridge.
On top of that the famous sawafuji swing motor sudddenly packed it in just before we were set to head off on a 8000km round trip after only 2.5 years and was replaced under warranty so we had to source another fridge for the trip.
Have contacted Engel australia a couple times with the issues of fluctuating fridge temperatures and they couldn't care less and expect me to go and pay an authorised dealer to check for correct function. Well I am sorry Mr Engel, but this is not good enough for an $1800 fridge, the issue isnt wether the fridge is functioning correctly or not, the issue is the poor design!!!!
If you are after a dual zone fridge I would highly recommend spending your money on a fridge such as a waeco cfx, opposite lock, snomaster, or national luna. Atleast these fridges have the ability to control temperatures properly individually to each compartment.....
Junk – I purchased 2 Engels & shipped them to Kenya with my 4WD. i chose this brand so i would have minor troubles. both fridges break down constantly & the money i have spent replacing parts i could have bought another 2 fridges. Don't waste your time with these things honestly they are just cheaply made junk. maybe 20 years ago they had a name not to break down. There are better choices on the market now for less money. new compressor? – purchased in 2006 worked well for first 5years and then started to play up food thawing out put it down to low power until on a trip in 2014 when i went to tighten metal turn buckle and it started arching 200 litres petrol in back not healthy put in storage till 1month ago. took it down to engles service centre told compressor gone $790 to fix… Read more
gave go ahead on condition to have my old cooling unit returned to me told that will be fine days later they called all fixed reminded them not to forget my cooling unit said no problem went down next day to pick up payed my money then they brought fridge out no cooling unit i said where is cooling unit said it was scraped they claim it had to be cut to remove every one knows its a sealed unit which is removed in one piece called engles complaint manager he wasnt interested in the facts just busy finding excuses worst experience ever took fridge to some one that know more then me said compressor they installed was manufactured in 2013 very poor customer service, so plenty of other fridges out there much cheaper too
Good – The best portable fridge you can buy on the market. With its super strong body and cooling power it will keep all your food fresh in summer. Can be a great gift for loved ones. This fridge is so portable i take it everywhere for long trips or just simply a picnic with the family. It has so many uses and the cooling power is very good and cools… Read more
drinks to a freezing point in a matter of minutes. The best thing about it is the lightweight body yet it is very strong and wont damage when dropped accidently. I love the affordability of the product and I will stick with this for a while to come. I found this brand stood out from the rest in terms of performance, quality and design. None at all
Excellent – good price (when they have the specials with the packs/ transit bag etc) i love our fridge it has never let us down we upgraded from a 30L to a 60L and when we go on long holidays the 30L becomes our freezer, i can't recommened it hightly enough every thing, i love engels won't even look at any other brans as nothing else compares, its faniastic
