This is, perhaps, the worst purchase I have ever made – This fridge was bought in haste when a Vitrifrigo failed through no fault of its own, and I had little choice other than to rush out and buy a new fridge. Engel has a good name in the 39l chest fridges, so I reckoned it would be okay. in the carton they come in, unless stored crossways; think it through, it's not practical to put a dozen eggs crosswise. But my eggs are no longer stored in the fridge, so I manage. 3: As well as being a comparatively noisy compressor, there's a rattle in the door when the compressor is running. I've pulled the decorative panel off the door to try to find it, but I can't find the rattle. Friends have even asked me 'What's that noise?' 4: There is no salad crisper— the Vitrifrigo had one. 5: It will not accept a 2 litre milk container— the Vitrifrigo used to. 6: The catch to keep the door closed is a good idea, but breaks very easily. 7: The compressor is not enclosed within the outline of the cabinet. It sticks out the back, thereby decreasing the depth of the unit even though it occupies the same space— most uprights have a sort of extended lower section given the cabinet more depth. It's my guess that whoever designed this thing is not a user, because these design issues would so easily be sorted. I explained all these problems to the attention of the Engel manager, but he wasn't interested in improving the product, just placating me— he offered to send me a plastic egg container which would fit. Bah!
