Disappointing results – After having taken Cholestrienol for several months, I was eager to see the difference when recently tested. So disappointing. Cholesterol:6.9 mmol/L ( < 5.0 ) H (an increase since last test) Triglyceride:3.1 mmol/L ( < 2.0 ) H (an increase since last test) HDL Cholesterol:1.15 mmol/L ( > 1.00 ) (an increase since last test) LDL cholesterol:4.3 mmol/L ( < 3.4 ) H (slight reduction since last test) Chol/HDL Ratio:6.0 ( < 4.5 ) H (same as last test).
Given the cost of the product and the apparent lack of positive effects, I won't be using this again.
Purchased at A health store for $40.
- Effective Within: Did not work
- Side Effects: None
Bad skin breakout – After taking the tablets for 3 weeks I came out in sores on legs and arms which turned into dry patches. I am now left with 2 full bottles! Am having cholesterol test tomorrow so lets see if my reading is down. No mention of skin rash on reviews!
Did nothing for me – I have the same story as Rainy and KarlOhm. After taking this for 2 months my latest cholesterol tests returned my worst readings ever across all measures. A reasonably healthy diet and exercise regime were maintained during this period. It did not work for me as my before and after blood tests show.
Disappointing – My cholesterol was 6.1, hdl 1.4, ldl 4.1. I went on a very healthy diet and lost 10kg and my cholesterol started to come down. New reading was 6 with hdl rising to 1.6 and ldl lowering to 3.8. I decided to take cholestrienol daily for 6 months and then I was retested. I was still maintaining a healthy weight and eating a clean diet. I was shocked to find out my cholesterol has now gone up to 6.3 with ldl back up to 4.1. Cholestrienol certainly didn't help and my doctor asked me if there was anything new I had added to my diet in the last 6 months and the answer was Cholestrienol. Don't waste your money on this product.
It does nothing for cholesterol
Cholestrienol from Ethical Nutrients maybe not so ethical – Cholestrienol from Ethical Nutrients maybe not so ethical Many people including pharmacist and chemists have been eagerly waiting for some result from this product. Having a very cautious approach toward taking medication I am keen to give any alternative method a go as long as the trail of them can be a low risk excersize. My cholesterol levels are at the lower end of the risk scale and to discontinue my cholesterol medication (Crestor) did not cause any major concern to my GP. Before I started the medication my levels were:
Total Cholesterol 6.6 Supposed to be <5.5
HDL Cholesterol 1.4 Supposed to be >1.1
LDL Cholesterol 4.7 Supposed to be <3.5
The levels came within the limits after taking the medication (10mg Crestor) and remained consistent for 18 month. After that, I stopped taking them to see if a change of diet and regular exercises would keep my levels down. Unfortunately they turned back to what they were within a margin of 0.1 (basically the same as above).
At that time I saw the advertisement for Cholestrienol from Ethical Nutrients. So I went to the local pharmacist to inquire more information on the product. Sure enough the product was on the shelves as promised in the ad but the staff were handballing my inquiry from one person to the other. The chemist finally came and basically said "try them out and let me know how you went". So I payed $35 which gave a supply a month (30 days), on capsule per night). After 6 weeks regular use I thought it was time for a blood test and here are the results:
Total Cholesterol 6.5 Supposed to be <5.5
HDL Cholesterol 1.4 Supposed to be >1.1
LDL Cholesterol 4.6 Supposed to be <3.5
No, it's not a copy from the old reading before starting with Cholestrienol. I was hoping to see the LDL results to improve by 0.5 to 1. Comparing the results before and after was disappointing to say the least. The supplier actually does not say that their product will improve levels. What the label does say is that it will maintain the levels, meaning that they should stay the same. That is about the same as doing nothing... Ethical Nutrients cleverly applied a marketing campaign that would take tens of thousands of cholesterol sufferers for a ride. I wouldn't be surprised if the motivation was more along the line of making a fortune rather that helping vulnerable sufferers.
Sincerely. Karl Ohm Packaging Product marketing campaign very deceiving.

Having watched the recent Catalyst program on cholesterol, we can now see that the supposed "safe" level of 5.5 was artificially set to support the sale of statins, and the "safe" level is actually more like 6.5!!!
