Do not buy a Eufy Solocam s340 and expect to buy an icloud subscription! I have done that and it doesn’t do have wasted both my $59.99 sub and $353 for camera as now have no storage. When I contacted Eufy via AP was promised a refund then when followed through was told I was talking to an AI chat and given the wrong info!!! What the !!!!! Now I… Read more

am expected to chase Apple Pay and Apple. The camera itself is ok. The help assistant online in the AP is frustrating

Cameras miss people entering driveway, slow to alert via app. Purchased two cameras and doorbell with one camera failing and leaking water inside camera two months out of warranty. Customer service is terrible and give you the runaround asking for so much detail before telling me that as camera just out of warranty I have no claim anyway. Very… Read more

disappointed for amount of money paid out for system. Have since seen many reviews indicating many problems with Eufy systems. Avoid EUFY and don't waste your money!

I purchased six Eufy S40 Solar Home Security Cameras with high hopes and commendable reviews, but unfortunately, my experience has been quite disappointing. Now they are just paper weights. Here are the main issues I encountered: QR Code Detection Issues: Although initial set up was a pain in the neck, somehow worked. But following my NBN Fibre… Read more

to Fibre upgrade, the cameras failed to connect forcing to set up the device from scratch. The app consistently struggles to detect the QR code for setup. Spent hours trying with different lights and iphone settings and other devices. Even printed out the QR codes a big paper and still no luck. Reached out to Eufy support and they sent QR codes but no use. Despite following all the instructions, it fails relentlessly, leading to a frustrating setup process.

Staining and Build Quality: After just two years, I noticed staining on the camera casing. It appears that the materials used are not weather-resistant, which is surprising for a product marketed as suitable for all weather outdoor use.

Unsuitability for Australian Weather: Living in Australia, I expected a security camera that could withstand various weather conditions. Unfortunately, the Eufy S40 does not hold up well against the heat and occasional rain, and I’ve noticed performance issues during warmer days.

Fogging: Another major problem is fogging inside the camera lens. This has rendered some footage unusable, particularly during early mornings or after rain. It’s frustrating to invest in a security system only to have it compromised by such a basic flaw.

Short Lifespan: After only 2 years months, I am already experiencing performance drops, which is not what I expected from a brand like Eufy.

Poor Support from Eufy Headquarters: When I reached out for help regarding these issues, the support from Eufy headquarters was lackluster. I was bumped around between Eufy headquarters in Taiwan and local Australian third party. Eufy admitted they dont have local service centre in Australia, so got bounced around. Only received generic responses that didn’t address my specific concerns. Nobody in Eufy wanted to take responsibility to their design issues.

Customer Service from Anker: Messaged parent company, no response either!

Lack of Local Service Support in Australia: Perhaps the most significant issue is the lack of local service support in Australia. When issues arise, it’s incredibly difficult to find timely assistance or repairs, making the entire experience even more frustrating.

Overall, I cannot recommend the Eufy S40 Solar Home Security Cameras. Beware they are not Australian based company and no local support. The combination of setup issues, poor build quality, weather unsuitability, fogging, short lifespan, and inadequate support makes them a poor investment for anyone seriously considering home security.

Have purchased 18 eufy security cameras over the last 4 years, with a wide variety of different models butbthe S40 were the worst. So far 7 various cameras have failed, most around the 2 year mark. What people aren't realising when they are sold in by the marketing and good reviews, is that these aren't quality cameras. The newer solar cameras are… Read more

sealed units and overheat. In the newer models the baterries aren't lasting more than a few years. I bought one of the new solocams which has now failed after 15 months. Took it back to JB hifi who said nothing they can do. Bought a new bigger solar panel but that made no difference. I also think the quality is not 2k or 4k on specific cameras even though they say it is. The 4k cannot read a car rego unless its daytime, parked and less than 5 metres away. The only reason I've kept going with these was because of the spotlight cameras, but now going to switch back to Arlo now they have them.

EUFY Australia Service is crap – I have 6 wireless cameras, the doorbell and an internal wired camera that all work reasonably well. We also purchased a Spotlight that we haven't been able to connect. dealing with the service department is a joke. I purchased these mid-December and was dealing with the Eufy App to get it connected, they eventually said get a refund from… Read more

SuperCheap. I went there for them to put me on the phone with Eufy Australia. I was told I have to start the troubleshooting process again with them. I joined, created a ticket, then a few days later created another ticket. then rand them 2 weeks later to find out what is going on. since then its email after email asking for evidence of proof of purchase (they have gotten it three times now) and troubleshooting that doesn't work. If you manage to get everything up and running good for you, if you need help. Get a refund! My raised tickets still haven't been addressed. Fair trading here I come

Not fit for purpose – My third camera in less than 2 years has also failed. The 4K picture is great but alerts were hit and miss. Tried to re-boot but now can not reverse the shut down function. Tech support in Australia doesn’t exist and Eufy USA continues to send generic platitudes but can not tell me how to factory ReSet or navigate the new App. Don’t waste Your money, buy something else! Show details

Unreliable Eufy solocam S40 – I purchased 8 of these over 3 properties. One failed (light blew, few years ago) and was replaced within warranty. Since, 3 more have failed, light blown, solar panel sun damaged. Now all about 4 years old the failed cameras are out of warranty and EUFY would not replace. These are now VERY expensive and proven to be unreliable and only last… Read more

I will never purchase this model again and already purchased a much cheaper brand which provides a better picture.

Terrible decision for solar security camera – I installed it outdoors in an unroofed area because it is solar powered, but it was damaged by water (rain) after a few years. Since the one-year warranty period has expired, there is no after-sales service and my question emails were ignored. Show details

Short Lifetime Camera – The notion of these cameras is good. They don't have to be recharged periodically, due to the built in solar panel, and they're certainly impressive, when they are working. I bought three of these cameras on the second last day of 2022 and one has died after 14 months. First it would only operate in black & white unless the spotlight was turned… Read more

on, even in full daylight. Then, on top of that, it stopped charging from the solar panel. For an over $300 or even over $400 purchase, from some retailers, under Australian Consumer Law, my opinion is that these cameras aren't fit for purpose, if they only have such a short lifespan. While I realise that these units need to be well sealed against the elements, the inability to repair them or replace the battery is a real disincentive to purchase. If you did want to risk buying these, please don't do so , without an extended warranty.

Faulty after just 1 year – Not recommend, I bought one of these cameras about year ago and even it is suppose to work under sun and rain. But water seems started leaking inside the unit, first started with flickering led and then it stop working completely. Contact Eufy and they mention I need to contact eufy in Australia. Even I contacted eufy australia no response so far. It is just another camera with subpar built quality and very expensive price tag. Show details

No Warranty – I have bought three sets of Eufy products from Amazon ...their $500 camera has failed after 11 months and Eufy refuse to carry out warranty and say Amazon are responsible as the seller ... and Amazon product support say its not Amazons responsibility and to contact Eufy ...there is no warranty. I have wasted weeks trying to get this resolved. Show details

Not perfect, but pretty good – The Pro's - - Set and forget. It's currently winter and overcast, and my unit has 100% charge - Captures decent facial footage during the day - Footage gets sent to your phone - No subscription fees The Con's - - Its hard to find the perfect spot for it which covers the correct height, angle and a sunny spot to charge it. - There can be a minute… Read more ·  1

or two delay receiving the footage on your phone, which by then an intruder may have had time to break in. However, you can trigger an alarm on the unit using the phone app if footage shows an intruder, or you can use the speaker function to yell the police have been called. - Camera can be triggered by morning light filtering through the trees. Best to place it pointing away from direct sun. - Like most cameras, it's also triggered by swaying branches or small critters. - It doesn't always capture humans. This might be because the infra-red works on heat, and if it's a hot day, it may not pick up a person walking past. Same if the camera is wet from rain, possibly obscuring the infrared rays. This is the reason I'm getting a second one.

All in all, I'm glad I bought it. I just captured someone walking down my driveway at 2am, probably hoping to find a door or window unlocked. Although, being a rainy night, I didn't get great footage of his face. Thus, will set up a second camera.

Not weather resistant - avoid – I purchased 6 units to completely cover our home. One developed corrosion where the lights are on either side of the lens due to water ingress. It lost charge (from 100% to under 20%) in a few days. It was replaced via JB HiFi just before the one year warranty ended. Another unit is now defective with the same issue just under two years after… Read more

purchase. I have little doubt that this is a systemic design issue rather than an isolated quality problem since two of my six units are faulty and several internet reviews (including Neil’s one above) show exactly the same problem. This is a firm DO NOT BUY for anyone reading this unless you are installing under eaves (where the solar won’t work anyway!!!) or other semi protected mounting point.

Issues with solar charging and non-existent support from Eufy – Purchased the Security EufyCam Solo S40 Spotlight 2K Solar a little over a week ago from JB HiFi and installed the unit in direct sunlight. The unit charged to around 77% for the first few days and then dropped to 15%. Contacted Eufy and reported the issue along with the log files on two occasions (TNV675586896 & TNY443165550) but no response to date (attached screen shot shows the charge keeps dropping)
