Major quality issues and reliability – Update 15/01/2025 And do we have issues and out of warranty Quality and build issues *****Sling motor shorted out ***** The Sling Motor shorted out and hence had to empty the unit every 30 minutes manually. This motor is a YJF-4820 $123 with postage from Tempo.org(warranty providor) and unsure if included the wiring connector. It has special… Read more
blades that splash the condensed water from the tray onto the evaporator reducing the times you have to empty the unit and helps cool the unit down during use. I went the Ali Express route and cost $47 but had to change over the motor spindle.
Now reason why this happened is because the wiring connector of this fan to the control board was loose and hence shorted out the motor. Appalling quality for the connector and should be rectified especially as its a 240v wiring connector.
So was loose and shorted out the motor. Images supplied. Plug also due to shorting on itself, cause premature failure to the metal and spring for the connector. Really dumb design. So fixed it Macgyver style and replaced the motor with the original spindle and resoldered it and installed it back into the unit.
All working fine
Can the issues be avoided with a better quality plug, ABSOLUTELY YES
***** Grill Vibration ***** Had to also fix the grill vibrating and only accessible to fix issue once taken apart. Literally grill fixed in place only on 2 out of 4 contact points. Literrally a small squirt of glue on those two points and they couldnt do the other 2 contact points is beyond me and simply just cheap butt quality.
Hot glue gun sorted it out.
***** Conclusion ***** Tempo.org is the auth repair and warranty company that outsource in your local area. They told me i was out of warranty and basically suck it up. Not cool as expected it to last more than 2years and i didnt have proof of purchase anymore. Bought it from a friend and they used it for a year and so its probably 3 years old and only used in summer hot days.
Back up and running fine so far but scored a 4/5 and now reduced to a 1/5 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nov 2023 Got the 3.5kw unit and it's so much better then I expected. Portable units are noisy, it has to be as the compressor is in the unit and unlike a split system where the compressor is outside.
The unit cools a medium bedroom with blinds closed nicely. Bedroom is 6mx6m and faces north and the unit cools it down.
Can sleep with it on once you get used to the unit turning on and off. That happens due to reaching the set temperature and the fans still blow which is normal as well.
Timer functions are handy as well so it's not running all night.
Great unit, very pleased with it.
Only issue is the grill on the exhaust on the unit. It rattles. Easily sorted by threading extra duct through the attachment so it pushes the grill back in place. Maybe hot glue gun or sponge foam to push it back in place.
Dont bother – Noisy, heavy and ineffective. Should've spent more on a more highly rated unit. Wish I'd seen this website before buying. Show details
Been great for a couple of years, but now it's misbehaving, and there's basically NO information about it anywhere – I've used this product for quite some time and it's been adequate. Last night, however, it stopped worked and started beeping incessantly. The manual says NOTHING about this condition. There's NO information on the internet that I can find about it. Yet another adequate product that's unfortunately rebranded and sold with minimising cost as the sole concern, without any intent to support the product. Show details
Returned - don't bother buying – Cooled but not well for 1 use. Then it was just warm air. Returned to Bunnings, was told the store has had many returns of this product. Exchanged for an Arlec instead. Show details
Euromatic air conditioner – Works quite well, but a bit on the noisy side. Show details
So cheap you don't get all the parts – I buy quality and spend good money to do so. Bought this expecting more. I own high quality product products, this is not one of them. To not received the hoses required to run the unit without emptying a bucket over and over is the sign of a greedy company and a crap product. Aside from that, cooling is average at best. Save your money, buy the plain label version. Greedy Italians have lost my dollar. Show details
Does the job – Easy to operate, checked the water after 10 hours not much came out, will check weekly, with portable units at this price level there are compromises to make, overall satisfied. Show details
Annoying amount of water – Great to cool down but what in the world is with the amount of water that comes out if it I have to empty it multiple times a day and it spits water at me out of the top it is annoying I can't keep moving it with my back injury wouldn't have bought it if I had of known about the water thing Show details
Good Reliable Air Conditioner – I bought this Air Conditioner from Bunnings and i have not had any troubles with it and it is a Good Reliable Air Conditioner for Queensland hot summers Easy to use Show details
loud but effective – For a portable air con, this works well. We used it during the major heat wave of 2020, to cool a 25sqm unit, and it successfully maintained the inside temperature at 10 degrees lower than the outside. It is loud on full fan force but it isn't just all noise. It's a powerful unit as the cool air could be felt right across the room. We used it almost every day during the summer and it worked fine. It's a cheaper alternative to a split system. Show details
Works well for first few weeks – This Noisy machine, water tray full light came on. Emptied it. Now unit spits out water from top and leaks water from the bottom of unit. Doesn't cope with heat Show details
Not the best – This portable aircon was really good in the first 3 weeks, was loud but think of it as white noise. After 3 weeks the w.f(water full) light was on then emptied it for the first time after 3 weeks, now every single time I use it for around 2 hrs I have to empty it. Show details
Difficult to empty the water out – You have to tilt the unit backwards so the water runs out. Impossible to do on your own. The red light has stayed on after emptying it. Also very noisy but does an excellent job of cooling the room.

Works well – Bought this as a cheaper & more portable alternative to split system, as we were worried about installation costs. Did a test run by closing all doors & running it in the lounge / dining. The temperature dropped 5 degrees in 30 minutes, to a comfortable 24 degrees. Not bad. It is noisy enough that you have to turn up tv volume, but not so bad you… Read more
couldn’t sleep with it on. Window kit was about 10cm too short, but fitted into a window with fly screen, it didn’t matter. Had intended to move to home office during the day, but can’t be bothered moving window kit. Like that it’s black.
Reasons for buying this unit – I had looked at various models and makes of portable air conditioners as I found the cost of running the ducted airconditioning unit in the rented property was exorbitant. My decision was based on the cost, the capacity and the running costs. In my opinion, it is always better to slightly over spec as that will mean the unit will not have to work… Read more
as hard thus reducing energy cost and it will also not wear out as quickly.
5kw servicing up to 35m2 was more than I required. At $128/kW this was the cheapest I had looked at as others of small capacity were $215/kW or above servicing a smaller area.
Although the unit received no stars I noted the expected energy use of 1,584 kW/hr per year consumption which will be about $348 a year to run which was far cheaper than $1,500 a quarter to run the split A/C. I used the unit at ambient 43 Deg C and set at 22 deg C and the room was cooled down in less than an hour.
The noise level is loud at 75dB but to service makes it work while. Only having a large sliding door made the window outlet too small and had to improvise.
I may add that the retailer where I bought the unit had 5 in stock and as I was purchasing mine I sold 4 to people using the sales logic I described above.
I have placed an energy meter on the unit and will monitor the running costs over summer. Unfortunately, the unit is not reverse cycle so will stand idle for 4-5 months.
Average cooling and compressor shuts off and starts again every time after 10 minutes – I bought this unit yesterday. The air-conditioner keeps stopping and auto starting very often. It is very disturbing in night. The room size is 17m2. How do I get the compressor to keep running constantly? Show details
Great portable A/C – It is a great little A/C for a portable one, expect it to be noisy in comparison to a split system as the compressor is inside the unit and not outside. The unit cools well and blows nice chilly air. The issues i found is it rattles a bit and makes water gurgling sounds even though the resivour is not full, the compressor also makes quiet a shudder cutting in and out and feels like it has no soft start. Nice and elegant product – Bought from Bunnings for $419. Was double minded about this one. Its been 1 week now and no issues so far with Air Con. My room windows are larger in size (old unit) so window slider was short for me (shouldn’t be a problem with new built up’s). Had to do DIY to make it work. At the moment not sure how much water it will make as it has run for just two three times..
Have 3 Awesome well priced Units – Renting a old Qlder. Have 3 unit easy to set up The tubing is extremely easy to thread into housing. Unit is the Fastest most efficient Well worth the money. Show details
Great performance but fiddly setup – This is my first time installing a portable air conditioner; The duct / hose is very flexible but quite painful to thread into the piece that secures it to the air conditioner. If it was maybe 6-7mm wider it would have made the first time setup a breeze! Performance is what you would expect from a portable unit; Fairly slow to cool but effective… Read more
after a while, yet the dehumidifying is perfect for a tropical climate; In less than an hour our humidity went from 86% down to 58% about three metres away from the unit and not directly in the air flow.
Cooling is noticeable instantly in the immediate flow of air from the unit; Having it blow across your feet when it first starts is great.
It won't be a miracle replacement for a "proper" air conditioner by any means except in smaller rooms. We use it in our lounge room that also has an open kitchen so around 35 square metres. In a bedroom would be perfect but it's still useable out here
If you have trouble dealing with humidity this is a great buy and much cheaper than getting a new air con installed if you don't really need one. Be careful if you have a hernia or can't lift over 25kg as it is quite heavy until you get it out of the box; It comes with castor wheels pre-installed so once you get it out it's much easier.
If you have an ABN and PowerPass card at Bunnings you'll get 5% off
