Had my Evakool 40 litre drawer fridge for years....properly vented at rear and on top.....flawless...the other day I put 300amps Lithium in Dmax canopy....I set fridge on minus 14C for 24 hrs...it held that temp and used 66 amps...just fyi really Show details

Follow-up  · Fridge fan makes noise...but it's in a canopy so no issue....fridge baskets and drawer easy to remove and clean...never any issues with sliding drawer mechanism. It gets very hot in direct sunlight ...but we avoid direct sunlight by keeping tailgate up

EDIT: The compressor rattle is present in all of their 40L drawer fridges. It is in fact the design of the Secop Compressor that is causing this. So unless you drive on smooth roads with soft suspension you will be hearing this rattle all the time and Evakool will tell you that this is normal and you will have to live with it. Brand new fridge… Read more

and the compressor motor rattles like buggery with every little bump on the road. It is so bad it's completely unacceptable. Unless you are driving on a perfectly smooth road, it is constantly rattling. Unusable like that. Also, the quality of workmanship is pretty poor for "Australian Made". Every second screw head is mangled and rounded out.

Have had this fridge since November 2024. The compressor constantly knocks even if the fridge is turned in or off. Evakool told me it’s normal even though that have not heard the noise. Have taken to fridge technicians and they told me definitely not normal. Have emailed Evakool with no reply as they said it’s normal. Very poor service. Would not recommend this fridge at all. Show details

Worked well until after the 2 year warranty period – Used as a frig and not a freezer, it has been to Qld outback in 2021 and around Aust in 2022 - built into a Landcruiser 200. It worked very well in the hot north until a 2023 trip to Cooktown last month, when it failed to cool below 16*C in near 30*C ambient and 90% humidity. I emailed Evakool who responded that the 2 yr warranty stood and that… Read more

I’d have to pay a service agent to fix it. Very disappointing with the lack of flexibility by Evakool after just 2.5 yrs and 3 trips amounting to just 6 mths of use. Back in Melbourne, FridgeAir fixed it with a new compressor controller and display panel PCB costing $240 labour and $200 parts - almost 1/2 cost of a new fridge! Hopefully it will now work for more than another 2.5 years. Unless the quality improves, I cannot recommend this model. Next time the new-in-2024 30L drawer fridge from Bushman will likely be its replacement.

Would not recommend – Worked for the first two weeks, then would not keep items cool. Temp constantly rising. I have tried everything - checking the wiring, ensuring enough ventilation, keeping it empty to see if it works. I eventually took off the back and the four main wires (red and blue) were barely attached. I do not go off road in my van - very cheaply built. Evakool of no help. Spend your $1000+ elsewhere. Show details

A great freezer for a boat – I skipper boats for reef monitoring in the tropics. We installed an Evakool drawer fridge/freezer in one boat about 5 years ago and have run it as a freezer ever since. It has worked like a charm from day one. So well that we have installed another in our second boat. We can have frozen meat, veggies and even ice cream throughout an 8 week voyage… Read more

in the steamy wet season. For an old sailor, that is amazing. Power consumption is low compared to the boat’s built in refrigerator, there is minimal condensation, they are very quiet, wonderfully conservative of space and simple to install. Their finish and construction are good quality and robust. Our 5 year old version looks like new.

Worse fridge ever – I’ve bought this fridge because I have another aus made evakool that goes well after 15 years. But this draw fridge is a complete land fill. All the reviews here are exactly what happened to me .

Not fit for purpose fridge – First draw faulty with banging and rattling coming from compressor compartment. Received 2nd drawer from Evacool after they accepted a fault with build. On my 2nd Drawer now which stayed quiet for about 3 weeks but again with same terrible banging and rattling noises coming from the compressor compartment. Have lodged a claim with Evacool who say… Read more

its the fault of the suspension in my new Landcruiser LC 300 ( what a load of tripe) (in writing) a basically go away letter. Not satisfied with their reply so have emailed again to Evacool with another video showing the aggressive noises from this fridge. Have waited 48 hours to hear from Evacool but again no reply or no sense of urgency for this company to look after customers. Fridge does keep items cold.

N Evakool – Poorly manufactured, even their “Down Under” Series are complete garbage. Do yourself a favour and go buy yours a bushman. Show details

Average fridge terrible freezer – Good idea as easy to access. Fun stops there. Fridge works ok. We purchased two, one to use as a freezer, will not hold -10 in hot weather. Draw a lot more power than most information I read. Installed an extra fan blowing past rear of fridges, didn't help. Will be going as soon as I get one repaired.(18 months old) never again. Show details

Terrible after sale service – I have a 40lt draw fridge. The draw runner failed with a fridge full of food inside. This damaged the tub, runner and my door. Evakool replaced the tub and the runner but wouldn’t replace the door. They said I damaged it and didn’t want to know me. They did sell did my money though $140 dollars for a second hand door and $50 for postage, then… Read more

when startrack lost it Evakool didn’t want to know about it.

They would have to be one of the worst companies to deal with. Don’t answer the phone and when they do the receptionist is rude and not helpful.

Regret going anywhere near a Evakool fridge.

Evakool 40lt draw fridges – We brought 2 40lt draw fridges 2 1/2 years back for traveling in our Dmax the only problem is they don't have 240 power but I put a good battery charge in the 4x4 one of the biggest problem is air around the fridge motors. I over come that by putting a vent in with a 12v fan as we get very hot days here in WA this works good now, the other… Read more ·  1

problem is battery power charging in these new 4x4s as they have a smart alternator so you must put a dc to dc charger is your car or 4x4 no less than a 30amp charger, my battery is a 150ah deep cycle with 2x135 sola panels. One runs as fridge the other as a freezer they use 3.5 ah per hour my Engel 80lt fridge and freezer used 5.1ah per hour. As for Evakool they have been very good every time I have rang them. last trip to Shark Bay my brother's two Engels worked very hard and did not freeze everything my Evakool work a lot better but it was very hot out side 38-41deg that's where you need the extra air around the fridge Evakool or Engels, I am not saying you don't get lemons in all ridges you do as my first Engel was a lemon my last 2 Engels where very good and I still have my 80lt Engel as a spare if I need it but is too heavy for me to lift. We are very happy Evakool customers and have order our first caravan which is going to have a Evakool 95lt fridge/freezer in it, you be good and enjoy the Ausssie life....

Great fridge, perfect for cans but still Ok for stubbies – Hi, I was looking at all the drop down fridge sliders starting from $750+ Just seemed expensive to get to the fridge.! (I have been a Waeco user for 12 years and have a 40 and 50lt, great fridges) I came across this fridge, I found a couple of reviews that said it was Ok. So at $650 I purchased one (cheaper than a slider with drop). It has been… Read more

great in the back of my Colorado ute on top of the draws system from 4x4 Supercentre.

I can get a slab of stubbies in it and 2x 1.25lt bottles of Tonic.

Not as good on power as Waeco, but close. 3.5A (Turbo 5A).

Stupid colour Black..! If the sun hit's the front or top while in the truck it can get very hot, efficiency drops big time..! You can fix it by covering it with a towel or a foam mat....

I do like it, so much easier to use and the draw closes and locks good. Draw and front can be removed un-clipping the slide latches.

Things can roll around inside if not neatly packed, same with any fridge..

Used it many times and still going well. I hope I have helped you...
