Initially quoted $5 000, found 'additional problems' and then charged $25,000. Replaced roof to illegal non compliant regulations and refused to return to assess and stopped answering calls.
Follow-up · Extra problems are insurance won't cover the house as the roofing is non compliant. The job took around 3 weeks to complete and no legal contract was supplied.
I had a very disappointing experience with this company about three weeks ago. The job involved sealing a small corner and a section of metal sheeting on my roof. The business owner initially quoted me $3,800 for a job that should have taken 2–3 hours. Once he opened the metal sheet, he found a mess, including bird droppings. Instead of cleaning it as expected, he demanded an additional $8,000 to seal underneath with blue sheets, bringing the total to $11,800. I refused this extra charge.
Instead of properly completing the original job, he simply put the metal sheet back without cleaning anything and left. When I complained to Hipages, he became abusive over the phone.
I have reported the matter to Consumer Affairs and will also be hiring a professional roofing inspector to assess the poor workmanship. Hipages has advised me to seek at least a $3,000 refund.
My advice: Avoid this tradesperson. Their work was unprofessional, messy, and unskilled. If you've hired them, do not pay the balance until the job is correctly completed.Simply he scammer
