Falken Azenis FK520L

I've had these FK520 Falkens on for about a month after replacing the Pirelli P Zero originals on my Tesla M3P. The whole "what tyres can I fit on my Tesla/EV?" thing is all just bunk - choose your quality tyre with correct speed/weight spec and off you go. The 520s are, on first impressions a good replacement. Steering is direct, they can handle the grunt, they stick well in wet and dry, and they are reasonably quiet like the Pirellis they replaced. They look great - the Pirellis were 235 and I've put 245 yet they still edge inwards on the tyre wall - they're a good looking tyre on the 20" rim. Seems my energy consumption is higher, could be my heavy foot on the new rubber and I believe Bob Jane fitters configured the car computer correctly after fitting. I'll update in 6 months or so but at this stage the 520s are recommended - car feels great under all conditions so far - but we'll see re mileage and compound wear.
Purchased in at Bob Jane T-Marts VIC, Eltham for $220.
Falken FK520s – Looking for tyres to replace the Pirelli Dragons and went through the review of tyre after tyre , review after review and found the Falken 520s kept popping up so investigated a bit more and from what I saw was really good , from what I heard was really good and price Falken had a 20% off at Tyrepower stores so fitted the bill there as well. I was tossing between the Bridgestone Sports or 003 which were both on special and about $100 more expensive than the 520s at the time, and also the normal expensive Michelins which never go on special for the sports tyres, Kumos and others. These 520s I jumped at , they have some interesting tech to them and not the same as other tyres, tread depth is gr8 and pattern and the side wall is very different with the new tech they have applied and side wall rim protection. First thing I noticed the car sat a bit higher still a low profile but sat higher and more balanced on the road. Handling was very different, very forgiving , responsive and didn't feel as aggressive as the old Dragons and still had that sports drive. Alot more comfy to drive, takes bumps alot better and absorbs alot more than the Dragons, very quiet you don't get that change of noise when changing surfaces. Admitadly I've had them on for 2 days but will update this in stages, as I think it important to review from when you initially get them on for 1st impressions. So to start with it's the correct choice. My car is the Holden Calais V 2018 AWD model. Price at time of Review $270 per tyre , 20% off normally price.
13/08/2024 Well it's still only a short time since fitting but we've had 3 days of pouring rain and first impressions are really really good, can't fault them , I hear some say how tyres stick to the road but these feel different in the way they suck the road , really it sounds strange but gee the grip is fantastic and really drives great in the wet. Again the balance of the car feels amazing, stopping in the wet is great no skidding very responsive and positive traction, feels very confident when driving in the wet. That's it for now!
02/09/2024 The tyre are performance is remarkable and actually better than the previous Dragons, in wet and dry all criteria is meet with very good comfort and responsiveness. Mileage is yet to be seen but to start off with , yes I would recommend these tyres , you don't have to spend a fortune to get quality and if this is the tech that's coming bring it on , I feel Bridgestone and the like rely on their branding and its like the same old rubber you keep slotting on, drop 4 of these Falkens on and yes there is a completely different feel and as I've said all through the balance is so good there's no roll side to side the car keeps very flat around corners and even with harsh directional change, no tyre noise or squeal. So far they have out performed my expectations. Mileage is next so let's see how we do there. Check back in about 5,000km. 01/01/2025 Ok , done 5k just before Christmas and had a balance and rotate done. Wear wasn't anything noticeable like any tyre is the che king of pressures mine are running 38psi. Wear was veryvery minor what you would expect nothing that warrents a bad tyre or any bad news. Handles the same. Everything is great, in wet weather you really notice how good they are. They suck the road and it's noticeable and your confidence is pretty good with them. Never slip or skid a real constant firm grip across the board. Will update when they Wear out I suppose hopefully not for about 60k 11/03/2025 Just food for thought if you dontvwant a sports tyres myvwife has had a 2019 Mitsubishi ASX and came with Bridgestone Ecopia well she's just put new ones on after getting ...87,000km out of the tyres!!!! That got to be close to a record i think!!! 02/08/2025 Tyres are going well no problems or excess wear look like they will go a decent mileage still have great grip rain hail or shine. Sidewalls are good no damage or wear. So by now I will say for sure ye they area good tyre and priced very good.

Over the past 7 months these have been good, sidewalls seem to be holding up ok, mileage efficiency is almost back to normal following spike at installation. Grip and handling are same as P-Zero thus far.
