Federal 595

waste of money – bought 4 low profile federal tyres on the 11/05/2015 had regular wheel alignments and tyre rotation services done and when the 20000 kilometre service came up got told I had to buy new tyres the date was the 28/02/16 these tyres only lasted me 9 months!!!!!!!@!!!!!!!!!!!! when I rang up Federal in QLD they told me to p##ss off, Now I am fighting with the tyre place that sold them to me to get a refund and it is not their fault .Federal are selling faulty product tyres and the tyres should be recalled. If I am unsuccessful in obtaining a refund of $623 dollars I will have to take the matter to court through the department of fair trading. Do yourself a big favour and stay away from them they are cheap and real nasty.

Great tyre if you conprimise – 235/40/18 performance is brilliant at all times, but performance means yes they are loud, yes they will dig in when hitting one side of the car in water at 100k's which can be jarring but sadly you cant find them anywhere much any more tyres are directional so most will be put off not being able to rotate ('properly') but ive had a second set 235/45/17 that lasted for over 45000

Terrible wet road grip – I have these on the back of my SV6 Commodore and they are terrible in the wet. The stability control goes crazy all the time and never did on my previous tyres. These are not the RSR version of the 595, which I do love on my GT4 Celica. It's just the bog standard 595 Federal that is abysmal

Great – I Did 50000 klm on these tires and found them great. 245/40/18 at 40 psi. Excellent dry grip and not any nosier than the bridgestone tires that they replaced. Wet grip was ok once warm (1~2 klm). They handled 10mm deep water well at 80kmh without aquaplaning. The also seemed to track well not following the slant of the road like other discount brands I have used. When balanced they needed less weights than the OEM tires they replaced. Best discount tire I have used. Rim protector rib,
Not what the brochure states – These tyres were touted as a 'sports and performance' tyre, despite the low cost. They are very poor with regards performance, with a very soft and plyable side wall. So soft that a small pot hole will result in bulges protruding out the side wall. However, grip is excellent in the wet. Noise is aweful, and anything above 70Kmph results in the need to have stereo turned up to compensate. Over all, not a good experience. You get what you pay for. IMHO, there are far better buys out there for a small amount more money. These tyres are only 2 months old, and not carried by the dealer I purchased from any longer. I think I know why, and why they were sold at a discounted price... Grip in the wet. Look of the tread. Too noisy, very soft side wall, resulting in poor handling. Very slidey and sloppy.
