After having a cs70eb table saw for 23 years, that never missed a beat until 3 months ago. I purchased a tks80 brand new thinking that if I had a Festool table saw for so many years that the next one would be the same, I was grossly mistaken. If I had known that the new saw had saw stop (which under the normal reasons was acceptable) I would never have bought a new one. I pulled it out of the box, set it up and proceeded to put the first piece of timber though it, when the saw blade dropped and put the blade into the aluminium saw stop block. No hands nor fingers were anywhere near the bench. It has cost me $255.99 for a new saw stop cartridge after the purchase of $4300 and a loss of over 4 days till the new one turns up. If I had my time again I would never have bought a new table saw, I would wait for the replacement parts for my old saw to turn up. 23 plus years no injuries!!!!! the whole world is looking to much to safety. I don't even know if iu want this saw any more and it is brand new.

Purchased in at Festool for $4,299.

Everything we wished for – Has already been used numerous times with great satisfaction and being used each day we attend, being 2 days per week. As older folk\s we appreciate the safety features and hope that it is not needed but they are there just in case.

Festool dreams shattered – I was always of the belief that Festool produced the best and most accurate tools around. This table saw shattered that myth. Lets start with the core issue. After unboxing and putting together the machine I found that the table was not flat and level at all, with a large hump far right from the control box, then with humps from the sliding table side through to the blade. Basically the table was not flat at all. The festool rep was called and I sent my table back all other table saws he checked were found to be defective in some form. I now have a table with a minor hump far right of the control box. Not perfect but I needed a table saw for a job. Other issues. Add the side table the fence will not slide seamlessly between the table and side extension, it jams between them. Try and set a 45 , you cannot without using the + - adjustment , its the same setting back to zero angle for the blade. No Mitre gauge channels on the table. Clumsy fence that requires 3 levers to set the fence. The sliding table fence is simply poor, floats off the surface of the table and reaches its limit nowhere near the blade, giving slight movement, which delivers poor cuts. Due to the lack of Mitre channels you cannot make and run your own sledge for zero clearance. I could go on with other minor issues, but its not worth it, when clearly theres an issue with the design / manufacture of the saw from the ground up. So if you want accuracy buy any other saw in this price bracket and it will be better.

Hi Rob, Thanks for reaching out and sorry to hear about your experience here with the table saw (and the delayed response as we have been on leave!).

We always work closely with our customers to make sure that all items can be set up properly and functioning correctly.

The TKS 80 saw is designed for working with construction site applications that requires the saw to be mobile with an acceptable weight. In having an acceptable weight, certain design components and materials will be used to allow this benefit to the customer. With this in mind, the saws tolerances are built to fulfill the construction site applications, and should not be compared with stationary table saw design. The other factor taken into consideration is safety with the AIM (Active Injury Mitigation)technology, making sure we can offer the safest working environment for our users. Positive stops will always ensure the 0 and 45 degree are fixed. The + & - adjustments need only be used to increase or decrease at a fixed degree. When fitted initially, the rip fence and side table may require some calibration from the user to set the ideal position. Having this adjustment also allows for calibration if it becomes necessary through mobile on and off site applications. The 3 levers on the rip fence allow for the accurate clamping parallel to the sawblade to ensure parallel cuts. The locking clamps fix at both front and rear table for stability. The 3rd lock it to enable fine adjustment up to 1/10 millimetre for easy adjustment parallel adjustment. The floating effect of the sliding table can be suited and calibrated to the materials(weight) being used. The sliding table is always set slightly above the main table for smooth operation. The sliding table fence can also be adjusted to reach well beyond the limit of the saw blade to cover different thickness materials.

We are happy to help you with anything that is unclear with saw set up and use and have a series of videos that could help you on initial set ups. Festool Quick Guide - YouTube - external link

Thanks for the comment. From the TKS literature on the Festool Website which Ive saved a copy. "Festool table saws are able to perform a large variety of jobs with ease. Say hello to precise, smooth and accurate cuts that make Festool table saws an absolute must have for t furniture and cabinet makers. "

Your saying:- With this in mind, the saws tolerances are built to fulfill the construction site applications, and should not be compared with stationary table saw design.

So I was sold a machine where its acceptable not to have a square mitre fence or table insert thats level. ? . You can be very sure I am taking it further with the Festool Team. As a customer whos spent literally thousands the REP will no doubt be paying me a visit.

regards

TKS 80 Table Saw – I was reluctant to purchase this item due to the expense, but when I saw the shop advertisement photo & what they were offering I bought it, when it arrived it was not exactly as the store advertised in the photo, after I set it up & started my projects I found it accurate, quiet, best saw I have ever bought
