Fisher & Paykel 164L Chest Questions & Answers
VerifiedShould the outside side walls of the freezer when first turned on be hot to touch. Seems very warm. Thanks
What setting should this be run on?? E.g. 1-7??
We used to run ours between half way and coldest (about 5). A container of ice cream can be a good guide, if it's too easy to scoop out then the freezer probably isn't cold enough. I don't like it when ice cream is too hard to scoop so I usually kept the one we were using in the kitchen freezer as I didn't run that as cold.
I know a freezer is supposed to be -18 or below, but without buying a thermometer I have no idea how to tell.
Having brought a larger freezer now (different brand) we run it at max cold setting for now,
I'm on solar power...
Would it run without a generator?
The amount of power drawn by fridges & freezers is quite high. Your average little 'camping' generator wouldn't run both house-size appliances. Unless you've a substantial 'house battery'... The 'trick' with solar power is to load your freezer early on an expected sunny day. That way you have maximum generation at the time of maximum generation.

if you're talking about DC power.
Any idea how many watts this uses. We too are off the grid and its really hard to find this info...
Is this freezer frost free? How easy is it to defrost manually.
Its not frost free, there is a plug at the bottom of the freezer, although i've had mine
for a while now and havent needed to defrost it yet.
Is the compartment on the inside of the freeza lid to hide your money or am I just a nut?
Well, I can't say that you're not a nut... But no, it's not for your money, although you could use it for that if you wanted! The lid is that same as the model above it with the light under the lid and that's what that space is for.
