Beware when looking at this oven – The oven works well but the self cleaning function does not work, we have tried to use it 3 x and each time it has overheated, locked the door and we are without an oven until F&P send out a tech he has replaced the same parts twice and it has now happened again and F&P will not help unless we pay ! This is a defect in the oven it has never worked not worth $4000 we paid extremely disappointed. Show details
Flaking enamel inside oven – Oven is ok and works well, but at times the function button when turned, automatically jumps all over the place. The enamel on the interior on the bottom is crazed and flakes off every time we use the self cleaning option. Enamel appears to be poor quality and wonder if this is still a warrantable issue even though it’s 7 years old as you would… Read more
not expect the coating to lift AT ALL.
So its been a couple years since I wrote the above review and i have yet to hear back from anyone F&P, so should I contact the Aust. Consumer Law dept as it is not operating as intended???
Terrible does not work on self clean – I would give zero starts if I could. First self clean run it failed and cooked the mother board, fan and cooling switch. Replaced under warranty. 2nd time using the self clean function it failed again, exactly the same problem but going to cost approx $1900 to fix. As it's after 12 months since it was replaced it's no longer under warranty. This… Read more
is a known fault but Fisher & Paykel don't want to recognise it. DO NOT BUY, buy a normal oven and clean it yourself. So very disappointed as my first self cleaning oven. The technician that came to assess had already replaced two ovens that day.
Works well mostly but self cleaning function is a let down – Overall the oven functions well. However having run the self cleaning function only several times, I’ve had it twice completely shutdown and require a technician to come out and reset it. Looks like a design issue to me which I will be looking to follow up on under my extended warranty. Also would have been great if you didn’t need to take the trays out during self clean. Show details
Don’t use the clean function! – I love how this oven cooks and operates. It is however fraught with problems: 1. My first oven came without a circuit board panel that F&P sent the part to the repair man who installed it. Obviously an assembly line issue. I couldn’t make the timer work. I thought ok these things happen. 2. I used the pyroletic cleaning function and 20 mins… Read more
after the door cracked. I insisted on a new oven and F&P replaced it for me with a new one. 3. After nearly 12 months later I decided after Xmas turkey that I should clean the oven. Tried, with trepidation, the cleaning function again. The glass door cracked again. Am currently waiting for the repairman again.
I’m buying Meile next time!
Same issue as others, fault after fault – Had 4 years and as others report, have had multiple problems. Oven locking on clean cycle and unable to open after cycle finished, this repaired twice. In Oct /Nov last year A3 error which which has meant three visits thus far. Last being yesterday. The anticipated fix again didn't work. As the other recent review commented notes been offered a… Read more
new one at half price but that there is no stock. We have now been without an oven almost 10 weeks. So very unhappy with Fisher and Paykel. Should be offering free replacement with extended warranty. The only positive I have is that the service guy that has come out recently had been really good.
Please DONT buy this oven or anything Fisher and Paykel – I purchased this F&P oven back in 2015 and have had endless trouble especially when trying to clean it. The door locks and you cant open it and then the oven wont heat up. Finally got the repair people out, 5 visits now and almost 13 weeks without an oven!!!!! I'm in Perth WA - they order the part, it takes a week then you wait 2 weeks for them to… Read more
come out, we have done this over and over and over again. Sit on the phone for almost an hour- transferred and transferred and transferred - Their resolution - we can fix it, but we will sell you one for half the price of a new one - but wait! we don't have any and we have no idea when we will! Joy! Just stay away from this product, the service is appalling - their Brisbane phone number doesn't even work call us on 07 3826 9207
Garbage. Do not buy – Was sold a 900mm oven after the sales rep told me it has the Bluetooth probe functionality. Wasn't until after it was installed ($1250 for heavy duty cabling & new fuse) that we discover that only the 600mm oven has this feature. 2yrs on and we finally use the Pyrolytic function for the first time. Door gets stuck closed and costs 190 for a… Read more
callout. Callout fixes stuck door by disconnecting so this feature no longer works. Now oven does not heat up at all. Can't cook anything with temperatures below 30 deg. YouTube of this is available at https://youtu.be/3sjVE-gz5io
Enamel of internal bottom all cracked – After self cleaning the oven on Pyrolytic program noticed the internal oven bottom enamel all getting cracked. Contacted Fisher & Paykel to send a technician to look at it, they refused to send someone and i been told if I want a tech to come for inspection I have to pay for the visit when the oven is still under warranty. I did insisted that they… Read more
have to send someone and I won’t pay a cent for the inspection otherwise I will contact consumers affairs, when I mentioned consumers affairs Fisher & Paykel decided to send a technician to inspect the oven. The technician took some photos as he been advised by his boss and when we talked about it he agreed that it is poor quality enamel. The outcome from technical department was that we doing the wrong thing and blaming us that we put a tray/dish at the bottom while cooking or self cleaning which we never did put anything at the bottom, all racks are suspended and never put anything on the bottom.
Worst oven I've had – I had the X1 model of this exact oven and absolutely loved it over and above all the European models I have had but this one is awful. The setting I love to use most is the fan setting, but they have programmed the grill to come on to help the oven heat up faster, so I can't have anything in the oven unless it is at full temperature. Not so… Read more
great if you open the door to add things into the oven and it loses its temperature mid cook. Nor if you use the pre-programming function and leave something (obviously not proteins!) in the oven to be finished cooking at a time to suit me. Nowhere in the brochures or the sales spiels does it tell you this! All they can tell me is that I should not be using this function for what I m doing even though I have been using this function on every other oven I have ever had previously (Ariston, Ilve, Bosch and Fischer & Paykel). I tried cooking on the settings they have and it did not translate well! Also the oven takes FOREVER to cool down after it has been turned off so the fan is going for up to an hour afterwards. This did not happen in my previous model. If anyone wants to buy a relatively new oven at a reduced price, please get in contact as I am selling this oven!
Wouldn't bother with pyrolytic again – Installed this oven as part of our kitchen renovation, thinking that the big self cleaning machine would be worth the extra money. Had to get the electricians to run heavier cable back to the fuse box$$$, upgrade the fuse$ and isolation switch$ to comply with the ovens energy usage. It does cook well, but the digital display is like something… Read more
from Knight Rider (for anyone old enough to remember David Hasselhoff). Thank god it cleans itself. All I have to do is remove the massive oven racks and clean them. And remove the rails that hold the oven racks, and clean them. And remove the front door, and seperate the 4 large sheets of oven glass, and clean them. And after that, I just reassemble the heavy front door, pop it back on the oven, and program the pyrolytic function to take care of rest. Four hours later, I can just wipe the dust from the 5 walls of the oven, and she's clean. Too easy.
Amazing oven – We are so happy with the choice of oven. It costs a little more but the benefits out weight the $$. Easy for preheat, cooks everything brilliantly. And friggin easy to clean. Love it. Haven’t tried the self cleaning element as yet but cannot wait. Highly recommend the purchase. And to think HN was best price. Show details
Excellent oven – Love the pyrolytic function but was disappointed oven racks have to be washed separately, so cleaning the oven still takes time! Layers of glass on door are fiddly to pull apart and clean. Having said that, everything I have cooked has turned out perfectly and I love the preset temps with different cooking functions. Know better, choose better.
I'm no chef, but love this oven – Absolutely happy, we have had this oven for almost 12 months. There are a lot of different settings to use when cooking IE Bake, Fan bake, pastry, grill, fan forced etc. Love the space, we can cook 2 pizzas on the same rack. The kids love making pizzas when friends visit. Grills meat well on top rack. Our most common option we use is Fan Forced, as… Read more
we are busy and heat quite a lot of meals. Top rack tends to cook faster, so keep your meat on top and veges on bottom. Haven't tried the cleaning function yet....
I have the MEPX1 – but as this is the upgraded model it can only be even better right? I LOVE my oven and I am a serious cook. I specifically wanted a 90cm but there are so few on the market and the ones that are didn't get very good reviews. The F&P products did. I fit a sucking pig on the rotisserie for xmas lunch and it came out spectacular! It is so easy to use… Read more
and being pyrolitic easy to keep clean. I can have veggies baking on the top rack and a cake or other dessert baking below strangely with no transfer of flavour or either being affected adversely.
It heats super quick and so far I haven't found any hot spots.
Once fitted it looks fantastic. The mirror like door 'disappears' save for reflecting my new kitchen. The display is sexy and I love how it shows you the temp climbing as it heats up. Dials and settings easy to use.
Definite winner as far as I am concerned.
Does the job well! – We had some difficulty finding a 90cm oven in a reasonable price range to replace the Omega oven (which was very basic) in our recently purchased house. This was because we were told that 90cm ovens are no longer popular and one of my major pre-requisites was for a pyrolytic after having an AEG 60cm pyrolytic in my previous home which was just… Read more
great. Unfortunately AEG do not make a 90cm oven.
So a Fisher & Paykel oven made in Italy was purchased from Harvey Norman, Albury in August 2016 but due to the popularity of this model and awaiting a new shipment, it was not installed until late September.
At first I had some problems with believing the oven actually knew better than me with the number of settings it has for various cooking modes! But in time, I have come to trust the settings and obviously one can adjust the temperature presets either up or down. For instance, the pastry setting is superb even though I tried several other settings first, believing I knew best. :)) But pastry cooked on the recommended setting is cooked superbly well.
The oven looks beautiful, sleek and elegant, the functions light up like a cockpit and it heats up very quickly.
The only downside (thus far) is just how quiet the timer is. It's totally ridiculous actually and just unnecessarily quiet. You never hear the timer if you have a radio or TV on. Fortunately it starts blinking as well, when the time is up, but by the time you see that, your food could be ruined if one is not watchful.
Also, the timer needs to be "confirmed" twice at time of setting, which takes a while to get used to. Firstly when you press the timer function, and then again when you set what time you want. In my opinion, these are unnecessary stresses to inflict upon the cook when it would have been just as easy to put a timer on that was of a reasonable volume and simpler to use e.g. set time and wait for the "ding" rather than having to "confirm" that you actually want to use the timer function and then again when you set the timer.
I have yet to use the pyrolytic function, and have fingers crossed it will be as good as my previous oven with that asset because one certainly pays a premium to have that extremely useful tool.
