1 No Fisher and Paykel  · We won’t ever buy this brand again - learned my lesson -
5 Aldhy L.  · Very useful and can help clean without damaging the fabric being cleaned.
2 WentyH  · Constant no tap errors. Doesn't rinse clothes properly leaving residue. I wouldn't recommend this washing machine.

This machine is the worst washing machine I have ever purchased. After only 3 washes I noticed it does not spin the clothes dry. They are still very damp. I had to buy a washing machine in a hurry. DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE. EVEN after spinning the clothes twice they still are below standard from my last washing machine. Show details

Buy another washing machine!! And don't but it from HN Bundall We bought this washing machine 7 months ago for $1000 before it chewed up a medium load of washing and ripped up the top of the machine drum. Fisher & Paykel and Harvey Norman expected… Read more

us to wait for them to decide on a time to have a tech to come look at it and go to the laundromat. I had to send them Australian Consumer Law to get an exchange or full refund. Then I was told by HN to not shop at their store again and go elsewhere. When this machine was sold to us the sales man told us "we can put anything in it and press wash and we won't have any issues". I would'nt pay $200 for this piece of trash!! Good luck selling this trash HN you're gonna need it

Follow-up  · -Just normal clothes in the washing machine -I don't know how the drum got ripped up, its like it pushed the clothers up to the top and tore them up including the top of the drum. - The size of the load was quater filled (not a full load)

F & P gone from Great machines to very poor Quality – Washing machine, built china, has been very noisy from new. 4 years old and needs repair. Goes out of balance at the drop of a hat. It never washed the clothes to our satisfaction not like our previous F & P built in Australia.

Love this machine! – I wanted a larger machine so that I could wash my quilts and bed covers. I also live the simplicity of this washer, its all automatic when it comes to how much water is needed per wash. I highly recommend.

Good easy to use washer – This is my third F & P washer the previous lasting 15 years. The new washer though slimmer in profile is deeper even though the capacity is the same as the previous model and fits well into small spaces. It washes well on all cycles even though the pump can be a bit nosiy at times. That being said I have never had a quiet washing machine.... A… Read more

lot has been said negatively about this model but if you read the instructions and use it as per them it performs perfectly well. It is a good all round washer. Purchased from The Good Guys Helensvale.

Terrible Washing Machine for washing clothes – I purchased this machine after my old F&P top loader died following 12 years of solid hard work. I had great hopes for this machine. Good eco rating attracted me and I was open to trying the low profile agitator. It was a failed experiment from start to finish. The machine simply didn’t wash. The water fill height is so low the clothes jiggle… Read more

in the water at best. I found on most loads there was 10cm of clothes above the water line that were only just wet before entering the empty and rinse cycle. Even more frustrating thing is they have removed the manual water level function on this model so I couldn’t even add more water myself.

I had a lovely F&P technician come out twice to adjust the water height to its max. It still didn’t wash the clothes. I was left having to do a double wash (not eco friendly) or soak my teenagers whites school shirts. F&P have now replaced the machine for a machine with a high profile agitator. It works perfectly.

I do not recommend the WL8060P1 model of F&P washing machine if you need a washing machine that actually washes.

A great machine spoiled by a cheap, plastic agitator – A great machine spoiled by a cheap, plastic agitator. At 22 months the lower lobes on the agitator fatigued and one detached - the other two hanging by a thread quickly followed. In 40 years of owning washing machines I have never had such a ridiculous failure. Show details

There's a Lot I Like – Update 2 yrs later. Still very happy with machine. Reading other reviews just wanted to say how important it is to read the guide thoroughly. If large items like jeans or sheets are wrapped around the agitator, blades will probably break and clothes damaged. This machine is made for items to be bunched up, not spread out. I love the handwash… Read more

and allergy cycles. And you can change the pre-set options. Take 15 mins to read the instructions. You can customise cycles; even turn the beeps off! And there are things you should and shouldn’t do, like not add bleach to the wash and not wrap sheets around the agitator; you can void the warranty if don’t follow instructions. The lid doesn’t lock while filling at start so you can add that forgotten item. And it cleans better than my old machine - put a couple of test items in. I leave the water level at auto and uses a lot less water than I would have selected, but I’m sure F&P know better than me how much water is needed. And it fills from the top, so no problems about getting clothes wet like so many machines that fill from the bottom. There’s only me and pets, so only need to use the machine once every 10 days or so, so saving energy. Note; there is no traditional lint collector; lint is “trapped” and sent down the drain; seems to work fine. But you can order one via F&P’s website, which I’ll be doing. Edit Dec 2024 - no complaints after more than a year - all good.

A smart decision – I chose Fisher & Paykel on a recommendation from a service agent. They are a very reliable unit with minimal moving parts, meaning all other parts are easily replaced and readily available locally! The 8.5kg is mid size but capable of most loads you'd need to do! Reliability, easy operation, quick servicability and a good looking machine! Fantastic choice! Show details

Prior to this machine we had a few Simpsons. After their performance deteriorated over the years we thought we would try something else due to the reputation of the brand. Gosh we didn't even get 5 years out of our machine. The exterior and tub are quality and show no signs of rust or wear, but the suspension kit failed. Ours started with a wash… Read more

every now and then rocking the machine until clothes unbalanced, to every wash having the same problem, only the rocking stopped and the machine would just at random times say it was unbalanced. The timer would throw itself out, back and forth. Then came weird knocking noises. The problem was, no clothes were even out of balance towards the end. We had to give up and hang our clothes saturated. Good thing though we had an extended warranty. I recommend everyone has an extended warranty for all these inferior machines now. Note - Product care through Harvey Norman will only give you up to your original cost to replace. We paid $997, They gave us $965 for an LG equivalent because the F&P was $1088. On top you have to return the product and not throw out or opt to fix the item yourself.

Do not buy! Awful washing machine. Puts fisher & paykel to shame. Nothing like the old machines I have had that were brilliant! the design faults as I had a new machine - old machine was 15 years old. But as time goes on, you realise it really is the worst washing machine ever! *spin cycle - having to put through a spin cycle 2-3 times (for eg. Just put through a small wash and on 2nd spin got approx another 200-250 ml of water spun from clothes). *automatic water level on filling - you have to check the water level after filling and before washing. Often have to top up water as automatic water fill is insufficient to move clothes around to wash. *washing with hot water - you can not add any more items once the wash cycle has started as the machine will not top up with hot or warm water - hard with a teenager. Despite all efforts, you often find additional items to add. *machine will empty the water randomly. Have not even really figured out why yet. Think one way is if you put machine on pause to soak or while you get other items to add, it just starts emptying the water. You have to turn it on and off a few times or unplug, for it to stop emptying. *pump loudness - the old machines had loud spin cycles, so I am used to noise at the end of the cycle. However, this is the pump that is very loud. So every time it empties water through the cycle, it is loud!

Constantly unbalanced even though it’s level. Doesn't do the full cycle. Bangs and shudders. Only 5 years old. A-lot of money to pay for an average washing machine. Had issue with machine leaking. Known issue. F&P produced a new part which looked exactly the same as old one and did nothing. Still leaking plus lint and sludge continually left on my cloths even though I clean machine and lint filters regularly. Company did give us a store credit as machine was only purchased Dec 2024. Will never purchase a F&P machine again. Show details

More fool me for not reading the reviews - expected F&P to live up to their past standards. No, no, no, the machine after 4 years does not rinse or spin - just goes to unbalanced mode regardless of what amount or type of washing is in the machine, which seems to be a VERY common problem but not acknowledged by the company. years- never a problem - this one - destined for the rubbish tip. I will NEVER buy a F&P product again and I advise people who are thinking of buying this product to not waste their money. By the time I have paid $300 call out fee, $190 diagnostic fee, parts and labour I will have buy a new BUT TOTALLY DIFFERENT BRAND machine. this machine is still on the market and, I am sure, is a lovely moneymaker for its manufacturer as it needs to be replaced often. The price of the unit does not reflect the quality of the unit - retail price it at $400 - $100 per year before it breaks down, that price would reflect the poor quality.

I purchased this machine, not realising that there was a plastic agitator in the bottom that did not attach itself to the bottom. WORST THING EVER!! put it in hoping for the best. It works ok on my husbands clothes and heavy items but for towels, and tea towels, it just chews them up. Choose something different, I have gone through over $400 of beautiful towels.

Poorly made – We chose this machine as we needed to up grade to a bigger machine and our last 4.5kg Fisher & Paykel top loader was still going after 15 years. Let's just say they don't make them like they use too! After less than 5 years the lid and front of the machine is rusting. We've had to replace the rods due to a common balance error and now there is a lock lid error. It's been more hassle than it's worth!! Show details

quality is gone as have helpful features – I have had fisher paykel washing machines for the last 30 years - lasting between 7-9 years each. and i have always been extremely happy with them. but in december i purchased my latest machine model WA8560G1 and i am vey unimpressed. firstly it does not have a second rinse cycle. which i need as i am very sensitive to detergents. and if i pause… Read more

the machine during the wash cycle, it automatically drains. even if i turn the power off it still drains after a few minutes. WHY. what is the point of a pause button if you cant pause it for more than 2-3 minutes. i attempted to call your line as i honestly thought it was faulty. and was told oh yeah read the manual some of our machines do this. very poor response. is my particular machine actually supposed to do this. and again if its actually supposed to why would you do this? i have also noticed that you are no longer putting agitators in your top loaders. sadly i think this will be the last ever machine i buy from your company. i also purchased a dryer. which is also not living up to my previous experiences. very sad how your company appears to just not be producing quality anymore. and your features have reduced considerably. like why can't you open the lid once its started washing?

Do not buy Fisher and Paykel, what was once quality is now garbage – Previous F And P machine lasted 15 years and was excellent. Purchased the 10kg machine in the hope it would be heavy duty. 2 1/2 years in and the agitator is broken (this has been an issue for F and P for decades) and we can’t even run an empty load without the unbalanced alarm going off. Do not recommend – I’m so sick of our washing machine! Clothes come out dirtier than when they go in, clothes gone in aren’t even soiled. So most of the time I need to rewash them. It’s a bigger washing machine than our last one but can’t put in as many clothes. Supposed to have an automatic lint system. I do not recommend Fisher & Paykel Show details

Out of balance issue is annoying – I find that it works OK for ordinary clothing, but is frequently out of balance with sheets and blankets. The earlier F&P model I had never missed a beat. A particularly irritating aspect of its handling of being out of balance is that after one's repositioned everything, the machine takes a while (minutes) before trying again, so one can't tell whether the problem is solved. Show details

I have never hated anything I’ve bought as much as this machine – Honestly in my entire life I’ve never hated anything as much as I hate this washing machine. and therefor becomes out of balance constantly during the rinse cycle. As a result I have had extraordinarily high water bills, higher power bills, and I’m constantly having to run up and down the stairs to adjust it up to 20 times to finish the 38 minute cycle. A bit after 12 months pieces of the white inside the drum snapped and had to be replaced around $150. Twice I’ve had it in for repairs at my expense. Cycle always takes 2-4x the time it should because of playing up. Also the sound it makes whenever it plays up sounds like birds, so I constantly feel haunted by the sound of birds thinking it’s the machine beeping at all hours of the day. I can’t wait for it to die. I will never buy anything from this brand again.

Disappointing – I’ve had to replace the plastic agitator twice as the blades keep breaking. Sharp edges have damaged my clothes and the metal lid and body are rusting out along the edges causing rust stains. Also the pump gets clogged with lint and small items getting stuck and not passing through the small drain outlet. I’ve had to have it cleaned out by a professional because it would not pump any suds through the blockage. Very disappointing. Show details

Not water efficient – F&P state the top loading 7 kg uses 86L of water per cycle. This is misleading. One would presume a regular cycle or an eco cycle. No they mean a wash cycle or a rinse cycle. The 7 kg uses 180 L of water per wash which is hugely excessive when you are on tank water. Show details

Disappointing beyond belief – We have had a fisher and Paykel for the last 14 years and never a problem and loved it. Replaced it 2 weeks ago with similar model and a bit bigger. The clothes come out all screwed up and unbelievably all need to ironed. It is much noisier and the spin cycle still leaves clothes much wetter and this takes drying longer. Have read manual and adjusted settings including the spin to no avail. I’m very disappointed to say the least. Show details
