Handles the big loads but rubbish on a regular load
The pros - good size no agitator can handle a load of towels or large blankets , no drama smart technology. The negative - For the last six months this machine can take up to 2 days to wash one average load i’m washing because it will continuously beep due to levelling issues. I wouldn’t recommend for a family, I wash daily and this machine- just won’t work properly

Noisiest washing machine i have ever owned
I brought this based on the reviews saying how quiet it is, it is so noisy it sounds like it is going to take off, very very disappointed as our laundry is next to our living room, even with the doors shut you can still hear it

Avoid this brand and model unless you like wasting money.
I bought this washer in 2016 after my trusty 15 year old Simpson failed with a water damaged motherboard.
From the very first wash it was noticeably louder than the old Simpson, took longer to finish, and didn't clean as well.
I made sure it was installed as per the instructions and took special care to level it perfectly.
Regardless of the way we added the load, or the items in the load, it would make loud banging noises and had a high pitched squeal during the spin cycle. The squeal sounded like a main bearing had failed but according to Fis...Read more

Worst washing machine I’ve ever had
Doesn’t use enough water. Towels come out hard. Clothes tangled. This is too automatic as extra water can’t be used. I hate it. The control panel is hard to see too.

Hard Crunchy towels .
The F&P cleansmart 10 kg is my 4th Fisher & Paykel top loader . I am not happy with it . Because of the low water use towels are poorly rinsed hence hard and crunchy . Even with fabric softener . I did have my husband add buckets of water to increase the water level . Now I just return to laundry after fill and fill double . We do not have many very dirty clothes . Though I did need to rewash and hand scrub the knees of my husband gardening jeans . I can NEVER remember having to do that . Sheets become tangled in knots . I am currently sittin...Read more
g in the laundry in my wheelchair to rebalance after returning 3 times to do so . The display board does not indicate were the machine is in the cycle . You can not skip forward or shorten the cycle if you wish . No totally cold wash . Clothes come out very wrinkled . Annoying because I can not iron . Though I found I can turn off the hot tap to achieve this ! On a $1300 washing machine !!!! You can not leave a soaking load over night then top up and finish at breakfast . It will pump out on its own . Though I have found I can cut the power to stop this . If you want a set and forget machine . FORGET this machine . I wish I had purchased an central agitator style less costly than this machine . I sincerely hope this one doesn’t last as long as my last top loader 15 years .Purchased in February 2019.

OMG - Welcome to my Nightmare
I have the 8. kg model. For 4 years and 8 months I have put up with it unbalancing !!!! I have had the technician out, who tried to tell me it is because I send my water out onto the lawn. I put up with it because I knew we were going to do a major reno and change our plumbing. Well guess what! I no longer do that and it still unbalances - every single friggen load. Biggest piece of rubbish I have ever purchased. I will not even give it away, as I would not inflict this nightmare on my worst enemy. Never Ever will I buy a Fisher and Paykel again. And as for the technician - Don't lie to people, if you know the machine has this fault, be honest.

always beeping
Had for years. SO annoying. Don't buy. Unbalances ALL the time, quite unreasonably; then beeps. try rebalance...doesn't work... more beeping and so on for hours. Detergent dispenser is also silly.

Do not buy
No filter so there is always fluff on your washing. Wastes water by rinsing your washing without filling up pre all washes. You have to wait around for this action to stop to put your detergent in if you don't want your detergent washed away as well. Time waster. Expensive to run, our power bills have gone up since purchase and it is the only new appliance. Requires a regular clean cycle of over 2 hours with hot water to keep running or machine refuses to operate!

Awful. Avoid.
The agitator fins rip my clothes regularly. As per previous reviews here, I can't wash a load of sheets without being home as the balance throws it out and it stops and beeps. Sometimes this occurs dozens of times, even if I just have one doona cover and sheet in there. There is no quick wash function; the shortest cycle is still 45 minutes (or thereabouts). I would not recommend it.
Absolute 10 out of 10 pile of junk. The amount of clothes that have been damaged by the agitator is unbelievable. I cannot even do a load of sheets for 1 queen si...Read more
ze bed with a light doona cover without it stopping numerous times for being out of balance. This means that I must be at home for 2 or 3 hours to do a set of sheets because it stopped countless times. The clothes come out unclean even on a long and hot wash. It is nowhere near as good as other machines I have used in the past and a huge disappointment. Avoid at all costs.Purchased in July 2018 at Winning Appliances WA, Osborne Park.

All our washing is currently and unfortunately done with this machine. This is all household washing including my farm work clothes.
Features controls etc are good but it's the end product that's the problem
Work clothes have to be washed up to four times to try and get them clean. This is most unsatisfactory from a machine which I specifically ordered because it was listed as one of the companies best. (the others must be crook if this is the best) Also we are using rain water so would prefer to conserve water instead of having to do up to four...Read more

Don't bother
We bought a cleansmart 10kg FP and despite using all the recommended washing products and following all the instructions, the clothes are left with notable lint all over the clothes/uniforms - not what we expected from FP and for the expensive price we paid for the "top of the range" !!- very disappointed
Purchased in March 2020 for $1,200.00.

Need a better machine not a cleansmart
clothes are every day clothes, sheets and towels they are not very soiled or dirty.
not at all satisfied have had better & excellent machine for 28 years have used only 2 lg machine and this one my third.
it does not clean good. i select different cycle but the same result as the water is not sufficient.
the timings are either too much or very less.
wish i can replace this as it is new and only 4 months old.

Lint, lint and more lint
Most disappointing purchase ever, leaves lint on everything. I have followed all instructions and this still happens all the time. Maybe they need to include a lint filter like other brands. Begrudge having to spend more $ on an after market lint filter but will.

Beeps every cycle - too sensitive to weight distribution in barrel. Have to press start to make it go again.
1. This machine is too sensitive to weight distribution in barrel. We bought this machine, for the fact that it had a big barrel size, so we could wash blankets etc in. But it can’t handle a blanket. Even when the barrel is only 1/4 full, with a blanket or load of towels/clothes, every single time it goes on to spin - like after main wash, when it’s doing it’s 2 spray rinses - it stops, and beeps - repetitively. You have to go check it (after the beeps nearly drive you wild), see that the load is basically even inside, and press start for it to...Read more
go again, but for it to do the same thing after 5-10 minutes - basically not moving any further along in the cycle. So a wash load that would usually just do itself - like a machine should - needs humans to help it the whole way along - and so it does not just take 1 hour - it ends up much longer - depending on how quick you come to move it along. 2. Plus, there’s is no option to just put it on the Last rinse (final fill). So if you forget to put your fabric softener in, and you want to put it on another final rinse for this, it has to go through 2 spray rinses first, rinsing away all the fabric softener. Or, you have to remember to come and add the fabric softener on the last fill, or put it into “wash” again, then remember to come and turn off, then turn on again and put onto “Spin”. Take me back to the old mwachines that were manual, not electric. I find this so frustrating. A machine should work for what it is designed for.Purchased in June 2018 at Harvey Norman for $850.00.

WORST MODEL EVER
I love that the machine is simple to operate, but there's no lint filter, so lint goes all over the clothes, the machine tangles blankets and long sleeves, and my towels come out with holes!!! I've bought F&P machines before that were a dream to own, but this one is horrible. I dread washing linen in it as it always goes out of balance. can't wash pillows or school bags. and seriously, have you ever heard of a machine that tears holes in your towels??????
Purchased for $699.00.

Avoid, buy something else, do not buy this model
Dark school clothes come out covered with lint and soap, have to wash again. The save water option washes the clothes in next to no water, so they are not washed or rinsed very well. Certainly can’t fill the washing machine for a 10 kg load, it won’t come out clean. Have adjusted to a quarter or a third load. Rarely use the water save option, but even turned off there is not enough water to wash correctly.
Every wash takes 55 minutes no matter the size of the load.
Sheets and towels wash are constantly stopped with out of balance. The...Read more
wash is very noisy with the bowl clanging when you have a “heavy” load. Heavy load means 1 hoodie mixed in with shorts and undies. The irony of it is the bowl wash, this is the only option that fills the bowl totally with water. Really not ideal when we have water restrictions. So annoyed at the waste of a bowl wash with all of that water, but you can’t increase the water level on washes. Hate this machine, no lint catcher and no water level adjustment. This machine has failed all aspects of a washing machine. Do not buy.Purchased in November 2019 at The Good Guys for $1,285.00.

Love it
I use my machine daily and use it to wash all types of fabrics and colours including delicate and heavy duty materials. Eg silks, satins through to work clothes Needing the heavy duty wash.
The Fisher and Paykell lives up to its promises and delivers what it says. This machine gives you the control over the type of wash, water temperature along with water levels and/or you can set the machine to your favourite washing cycle. You are able to pause the machine during the wash cycle to put in an item that you forgot, change the water level and tem...Read more
