Don't keep it stock!!! – These cars are terrible stock, you realise it once you've driven one that has been unleashed. They respond so well to even the smallest changes and really start to come alive without changing the drive ability of the car at all (nizpro) Easy to modify, expensive to make reliable so keep it under 400rwkw (will go much quicker than a hsv with… Read more

500 don't worry)

Do not avoid modified ones, just find one that has been done with good parts! Save yourself a fortune

Needs much better tyres and suspension to remove the boat feeling ford gave it!!

***isnt worth the premium over an xr6 though as its pretty much the same. Get a g6e turbo and add stuff to it

Not bad but not really worth getting over an xr6t – I've owned a bf xr6t and now my fg 2010 fpv f6. Don't get me wrong the leather seats are nice and the brakes are ok but it's not much better than an falcon. Infact the interior is almost identical to a taxi despite the extra $$. Even all of the lights are the same. Even the steering wheel badge says 'ford' rather than 'FPV'. At least hsv makes… Read more ·  1

their cars unique from the Commodores.

My biggest gripe is the aircon. It doesn't work 80% of the time and I live in Darwin. I've taken it to ford twice without luck. It's to do with voltage and can be fixed with a software update apparently.

My zf auto is crap and I should have got a manual. It seems to be all over the place. No good for drag racing.

The suspension is crap and the oil feed line to the turbo has to be changed. A problem they never fixed from the b series. My turbo blew from lack of oil.

On the whole it's worth 4 stars but with the benefit of hindsight I'd rather have got an fg xr6t and then spent the money I saved on brakes, suspension, intercooler upgrade, exhaust, injectors and retune!

F6 310 one a great Aussie built car – Really like this car, traded a 2009 Mitsubishi EVO X in for this FPV F6 310 sedan. Although not as sharp as the evo x thru the tight twisty roads in the hills, it more than makes up for that with its laidback cruising on the freeway, huge torque reserves, alot better economy on a long trip than the EVO X and with the ability to carry 5 people… Read more

and a boot full of luggage (the evo's boot was tiny due to the factory fitted intercooler spray tank and battery).

The brembo 6 piston front brakes and 4 piston rear brakes on the F6 can take a huge punishment on the track if needed although rear tyre life trying to get the big shove of torque (from 2000rpm onwards) to the road can be an issue that shouldve been delt with at the factory via the fitment of wider 91/2" rear rims and 275mm tyres like HSV fit to there clubsport R8 etc.

That said, the inline 4L turbo 6 cylinder is arguably one of the best Aussie made engines! Even if people refer to it as an old "tractor" engine.... Great engine, good transmission, comfortable on long trips but still able to blast the back roads on a early sunday morning drive. Can be hard on rear tyres and not as nimble as its HSV rival around a track

Torque that torques – I have always owned v8s,I purchased a second hand 2006 black bf typhoon 12 months ago. This car is awsome, the bf has a look all of its own,it has a look that says don't bother,it goes like the wind, stops on a dime with the big brembos and with traction and stability control with rear blade suspension, this car just stays on the road, even pushing it… Read more

in the wet around off camber corners its faultless.I've always liked a v8 sound but the noise of that little turbo whistle even down low is brilliant,it has a sound unlike anything else.Mine has bigger injectors ,fuel pump, full 3 inch exaust, and I added a bigger intercooler, and retuned. The car isn't as smooth as standard, has more lag which means having to ring its neck a little more, but its worth it.I haven't ever driven a car like this ever,I love it,power out of corners using sequential gear shifting with its german built 6 speed is second to none.Best car in the world ,performance wise for your dollar, know doubt...The interior is quite nice but some little bits are a bit cheap, the 6 stacker in mine is premium, its sounds very good without changing anything, over all the car is great, and yes its will run any other make down I believe in the up to $200,000 price tag

Best car i've ever been in – I have had my 2008 FG FPV F6 for half a year now, and it is absolutely fantastic. The interior is welcoming, functional and looks fantastic, the exterior looks mean from the dark accents below the headlights to the unique bodykit that makes it stand out from the crowd. So happy with upgrading from my old BA XR6T, worth every cent. These cars also… Read more

have the best, most reliable motors in them, no Australian car out there compares, and to be honest, no European, Japanese, American, British, etc car does either. I've driven everything from Ferrari to BMW to Holden, and nothing is as smooth and responsive as this. Love it, Holden has nothing on this! Enjoying the look on HSV owners faces as I completely destroy them

Fantastic Blown Six – I have the Bionic blue F6 typhoon, real head turner in that colour. Every drive puts a smile on your face, turbo whistle and the sound of tyres crying for grip when you leave the lights. The exhaust wail when you boot it. Love sitting on a 110kph on freeway then tap the the throttle, instant shove in the back stuff. This car is a keeper and will… Read more

probably be sort after in years to come. Great interior comfy seats and if you install decent speakers to replace factory units the sound system is awesome! Not much else for the money gives you a great roomy car and truly effortless grunt. grunt, looks and its a car that looks tough. Dont buy one that has been played with eg. flash tune, more boost. it ruins the smoothness of this motor

Absolutely awsome!! – I own an F6 R spec and after 3.5 years with it still brings a smile to my face everytime i take it for a drive. Stock from the factory floor the car has run a best time of 13.0 (ZF 6 speed automatic) without any mods..the newer F6s (2008 onwards) have run 12.8s stock. Handling is superb around corners...but the car still needs larger tyres… Read more

to reliably handle its torque potential every time you plant it. i have tried Dunlop Sp Sport Maxx (factory), Bridgestone Re-O1, Pirelli P-Zero...but nothing can handle the boost coming on at full tilt!

The turbo boost is agressive and gives you an agressive rush, unlike the new GT335 which although quicker doesn't feel as fast as an F6 with its more linear response.

The F6 is also one of the best bang for your buck in terms of tuning potential...less than $5k will see you into the 11s qtr bracket and under $10k to see you into the 10s qtr bracket. Torque...that throws you into your seat every time you nail it. Needs larger tyres to handle that torque!

Excellent – This has to be the best Aussie muscle car built by any Australian motor company. Performance rivals just about anything from Overseas at about half the price. The earlier F6's can appear a little dated to that of current model or HSV but still retains an aggressive looks rather than a more 'euro' appeal. I'd take an R spec model any day. Great… Read more

Looks and handling (especially R spec). Standing quarter has been done in 13.0 flat by several drivers. The inline 6 is smooth and extremely responsive. Very easy to tune to 500HP as well. Auto box is the gem here. Build quality can be average, but typical of Aussie Manufacturing.
