Extremely disappointed with this seller. The order was delivered late, key items were missing or replaced with cheaper products, and an important perfume was cancelled without any prior notice, despite me paying a premium delivery fee. The seller refused to acknowledge their mistakes or issue a fair refund, even after I provided clear evidence (invoice and photos of delivered items).

Warning to buyers: Avoid purchasing expensive perfumes from this shop. They advertise premium items at attractive prices to get you to order, then cancel or swap those items for cheaper alternatives. It feels like a trap – you get lured in by expensive items, add more products to save on delivery, and then end up receiving only the cheaper items.

I will also be leaving a negative PayPal review, as even after providing full details and proof, PayPal’s process still heavily favours the seller by asking buyers to file a report with law enforcement or a government agency just to continue the investigation. This unnecessary process feels like a way to protect the seller instead of ensuring buyer protection.

Poor communication, misleading practices, and no accountability – absolutely not recommended.

You know what they say – “if it seems too good to be true then there’s most likely a catch”. Oh, how I wish I had followed this principle with fragranceshop.com I must say - the prices they offer are great and from my understanding the fragrances are legit and not counterfeit or fake. But it’s their method of delivery that’s likely to result in you getting nothing for your money.

Based in the US, fragranceshop.com contract DHL for their order delivery who subcontract this to a 3rd party carrier. In Australia that seems to be DAI Post.

What fragranceshop.com doesn’t disclose is they go for the cheapest possible delivery cost and to do so, their delivery instructions are fixed as ‘no signature required’. This is not disclosed on their order form nor is there any way for you to include any instructions of your own with your order.

Well, that’s not a big deal you might be thinking, the carrier will at least live up to the promises they publish on their website “we provide hand to hand delivery so even if the instructions are ‘no signature is required’, we won’t leave a package if it is exposed and at risk.”

Well, that promise is worthless because they will simply leave the package (regardless of its value) at your front door in full view, take a photograph of it and jump in their van and drive off.

So, if the package gets stolen, they simply point the finger at fragranceshop.com who in turn points the finger at them. And guess what?? – under Australian consumer law there is nothing you can do. Unless you have written proof you gave instructions to the retailer that the package must not be left without a signature.

Without this there is no ‘breach of contract’. Furthermore, the carrier is off the hook because their contract/agreement is with the retailer, not you. So, unless the retailer takes them to task it’s a big win for the porch bandits and you can kiss your money and whatever you purchased goodbye.

So, the lesson here is – if you’re buying online and the seller does not allow you to specify delivery instructions then you carry the risk.
