Good – For those new to the SLR end of digital photography, this camera makes a great transition point between point and shoot and full manual operation. For beautiful shots and durability at a great price I recommend it. My husband bought me the S9500 as a Christmas present three years ago and apart from an accidentally broken display screen (after a… Read more

heavy thunk on a European train), it's still going strong. It takes great pictures in all modes, but the macro function in particular is outstanding. The ability to record video with sound is also a nice addition to the main purpose of the camera. Takes great clear photos that you'll want to frame. I'm not going to say it's heavy and bulky, because that's the point of a full function camera.

OK – I bought this advanced compact camera before the Digital SLRs became much more affordable. I was mostly happy with this camera, and got some great shots with it. especially since cheap entry level DSLR cameras are everywhere and are a much better choice. Great transitional camera with advanced features similar to a DSLR.

A decent zoom.

Ability to shoot RAW.

Ability to use a cable release.

The tilting LCD screen.

If you shoot with RAW and can edit photos in Photoshop or similar, this camera produces some great images. Noise above 200 ISO (you will need a tripod for low light - not worth putting the ISO up on this camera).

Slow to process RAW images (at least 3 seconds for 1 image), and fast cards don't help.

Focusing in low light is really difficult.

Command dial stopped working, but was under warranty and was fixed in a few weeks.

with manual and auto controls and having at least 9 megapixs.this camera is all that and more. having had the camera now for about 12 months and use it all the time, I can't fault it at all.
