All ways wanted one of these , healthy cooking ect. So tried lamb loin chops … no browning, tasted like l had boiled it. So tried steak a little better no way as good as BBQ , again that boiled look and tasteless. Sausages that’s all it’s good for plus sandwich maker. So summing up don’t waste your money unless you like you meat boiled

------------------- Feb 2026 ---------------- Hi, Logging in to give you an update. 1. We love it and this has become a much loved member for making grilled sandwiches. 2. Now that we don't need to use it that frequently, this comes into use only occasionally. But apart from the cons that I listed earlier, definitely worth owning one. Cheers! ------------------------- Original review Apr 2025 ----------- Hi,
We wanted a sandwich press because we love grilled sandwiches. We went to the usual shops looking for a decent press. Most under $100 of any decent brand were for handling 2 sandwiches at a time. Further, we wanted those grill marks on our bread - and most what we saw had either 2 flat plates, or only 1 plate with grill lines, the bottom flat.
We shortlisted this one mainly because both plates were grill ones, and was large enough to hold 3 sandwiches at one time (size large). We got it from Amazon, as we have a prime membership (so free shipping) and was cheaper than the stores around.
Enough of the background. Now the review: Pros: 1. Does exactly what we bought it for - we are a family of three and we can have 3 sandwiches grilled simultaneously. Our old grill could do only 2 at a time - so we used to share one sandwich and then redo the next lot. 2. Is quick to heat up - and so we have started using it to grill sandwitches, quesadillas etc. for my child's lunch box. So fast to do that! 3. We love the "George Foreman" grill mark on our toastie - only it comes out mirrored! They have wasted a good opportunity to "brand" their food servings - pun intented. Hopefully someone from their design team sees this review and makes the plates with mirrored markings!
Cons: 1. Clean up is always with a moist paper towel. Since this is an electric appliance, we can't splash water. We cannot use cleaning solutions as we won't be able to wash them away. So for any serious grilling like skewers and other stuff - that they say can be done - we don't do that. For that we use our Ziggy BBQ (check my other review). 2. No temperature control. So its max or off. You have to get used to when the food will get done, else you risk of it getting charred. 3. The drip tray is plastic and flimsy. It does the job - but it could have been better. But it does the job of catching the drippings. 4. The top plate hinge could have been better. So it tends to squish 2-bread sandwiches, and the goo comes out. This means the inners of your sandwich (cheese, sauces, chicken mince) often come out and sizzle on the grill. The way we have got round this issue, is make 3-bread sandwiches - club sandwiches! 5. You do get burnt fingers if you try to handle food - as you have to do when scraping off charred stuff off the plate.
6. We wish we could control the incline of the lower plate. The inners of a quesadillas often squish and run out!
Verdict: Do I recommend it? If you are going to use it to make toasties, go for it. Just ensure you make club sandwiches if you intend to use soft bread. Other breads (baguettes, turkish bread etc.) are good for use and come out excellent. If you intend to use it for serious grilling - ahem. The clean up though easy - won't necesarily be what you want to do - no soap, no splashing. So you could expect smell transfer after use. I'd use a proper BBQ for anything serious.
Purchased in at Amazon for $98.
