I have had my GERNI Super 140.2 Pressure Washer since 1990. And, touch wood, I have NEVER had any problems with it. I use it every week and when I have finished using it, I thoroughly rinse the machine. I also have a filter on the hose outlet on my… Read more

tap so no debris can get into the machine. I have only replaced "O" rings twice in all this time. My philosophy is " Treat your tools with respect and they will last a very long time". I can't praise Gerni enough as my machine is still running well.

Follow-up  · I use my GERNI to wash my car and pressure wash my reclaimed brick courtyards. I have used it a few times to pressure wash my Colorbond roof as I live in the inner city of Sydney and have a lot of home unit construction around me. If I don't remove the cement dust that settles it eventually eats into the Colorbond coating. The only attachment I use is the wand that comes with it.

No issues – Regulary used for domestic cleaning including driveway, car, house etc, works wells and nonossues. After 10 years got a leak in the handle, replaced the O rings, and all good with no leaks Show details

I spent more money getting it repeatedly fixed – Not satisfied it replaced a 15 year old gurney that I used regularly on the job this gurney has had the hand piece replaced and and all the washers worked for a couple of uses and the same thing has happened will not buy gurney again Show details

A relatively easy fix for a known issue – Everything except the trigger handle is good. Has great pressure. The trigger started leaking from the hose connection and when I took it apart the plastic components broke. Instead of doing what everyone else seems to do and complain about the replacement breaking again (doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is… Read more

insanity), I took the unit to Pirtek. There they fitted a replacement wand and used the hose in the kit to double my hose length. The wand works perfectly. All up it cost me $100. Never had a problem again. Given that replacement triggers cost upward of $50 from Gerni and they tend to last a couple of months, this seems to be the best option.

Although Gerni have screwed the pooch on their G4 trigger, a little thinking outside the box will save you from throwing out what is actually a really robust unit.

Problem solved – Thanks to product review I've fixed my leaking Gerni hand lance. Using the comments I read from other people's experiences, I've successfully replaced the small O Ring in the hand lance and so far so good. Time will tell on how long it lasts, but for 20 cents and some time my Gerni is working again.  Show details

Don't buy – I used my gerni about 10 times and the hose exploded. Can't find replacement hose with the correct fittings. The machine is useless also 520 dollars out of pocket. I went to bunnings but couldn't help me. They told me to try super cheap auto but the same story. They have the same replacement hose that screw on to the machine.  Show details

Not worth the money – Have had no end of trouble with the lance. "O" rings at $20 is also a rip off. The pump still works, however, after 3 years. Thought by paying more money it would be a better quality machine. This is not a better quality machine. Stick with a $100 or less cheapie & replace it every time it doesn't work. Alternatively try something other than Gerni or Karcher for the same money & see how you go.  Show details

Loved it until the handle started leaking – I haven't had a pressure washer before this one so am happy with the unit itself.. i prob only use it handful of times a year and was using it the other day when all off a sudden water started pouring out of the trigger gun when I released the handle to stop the unit. I've prob only used it a dozen times and now the units now out of warrenty, so… Read more

went to bunnings and wasn't happy that I have to pay $40 to buy a whole new handle. Needless to say I left it there until I make my mind up what to do. From reading various articles on the net though this is a we'll known fault.

Don't buy a gernie brand washer – Hand gun has adjustable pressure setting that works with wi fi. What rubbish. From one use to the next the battery is dead this unit cost me $499. And the worst part is when the battery is dead the unit runs only one speed. Full boar. Can't use it too early on weekends because wake up whole street. I had a $199 karcher and got ten years out of it. Don't buy gernie brand.

Great machine but it will cost you a new hand gun – The machine is faultless except for the hand gun, mine lasted just past warranty. Don't replace it with the same design fault rubbish, they have an upgraded one with brass internals for about $85 to $100. My alloy pump is still strong and I love the different attachments. A great machine if gerni would admit the fault and discontinue the time bomb hand gun that comes with the machine.

same problem – use pressure washer for cars mainly. good until using around house walls. the water is now pouring out of the lance. I fitted a new o ring but it didnt work. I dont think it is easy to get a better lance fitted to the hose and have come to the conclusion that it will become - landfill!

Good machine till the hose breaks – Well I would never ever buy a Gerni again, I had a Hobbyliner I was very happy with it, till a hose broke, the hose from the motor to the reel. I thought ok no problem I'll order a new one. Apparently Gerni doesn't supply spare hoses, Not even the high pressure hose to the gun can be replaced. Very disappointing. So when a hose breaks, you have to throw the high pressure cleaner away. How stupid is that hoses break.

Price of rubbish – Wand leaks at trigger. Have to replace each time, can not be repaired. Am on third wand. Pressure issues. Won't start unless hose is kinked. Nozzles are rubbish, am on third nozzle. Rotary action ceases and have to keep removing and lubricating to keep it working. Overall price of junk that has never had its issues addressed. Gerni should remove from market until issues rectified. Will never buy another Gerni.

Pump has issues, bad wand - don't buy – Up for my 4th wand in as many years, $80 each. Pump fails to start sometimes if inlet pressure too high, have to crimp supply hose to kick it off, but works good when it works. Going to take it to a hydraulic shop and cut off the proprietary fittings so I can fit another brand of wand. Wouldn't recommend.

Gerni Garbage – Have used my super 140.2 Plus about 50 times. The handle where the inlet from the hose clips in has broken twice. New handle cost about $100.00. Second handle only lasted for 6 uses. Poorly designed and cheaply made garbage. I will not give Gerni anymore of my money. $600 of absolute rubbish.

Don't buy – Well I've had mine a few years and probably used it 6 times and serviced it 6 times and yesterday water began pouring from trigger gun, pulled apart 7 screws replaced o-rings [3] and still leaking, i suspect the 80c part you can't buy to be the problem. anyway $60 to replace gun. I WON'T BUY BUY ANOTHER GERNI EVER..

Common problem which germi should resolve – The pressure and unit itself seem pretty good. At the time of purchase thought I would spend more money to get a unit that lasted. When I read other reviews they seem to be common problems eg won't opperate consistently with low pressure intake from water supply, cuts out when used for to long and for mine the most disappointing thing is the… Read more

plastic 2 way valve in the trigger assembly which has cracked is not a replacement part you have to buy the whole gun for $60-$70. This is crapp considering the part would be probley be less than $5. Guess germi won't make enough out of $5 replacement parts.

Weak trigger will let you down – for the price I find this unit a real let down. The trigger is pathetic and expensive to replace. You may get away with a new o ring once or twice [ if you can source the correct ones which is not as straight forward as you might think]

So far so good – Purchased this pressure cleaner approx. 4 weeks ago and so far so good. pool, the whole outside of my house, the pool area and back porch the gerni worked really well. Seems to be well constructed with a easy to hold handle, area where the electrical cable can be wound up plus a storage area for the two pressure hose attachments. I really like the attachment that connects the garden hose to the unit. No water leakages. The unit also seems to be less noisy than my old karcher.

No complaints as yet and I am happy with the unit.

hose connection in trigger will fail – Had this for 6 years used 20 times. The G4 trigger has very weak plastic connection where the hose inserts. broken on mine and i read on many other customers. Gerni wont supply any parts so have to buy new gun $60 very unhappy cant just buy broken connection part.

Solid Performer – My previous pressure cleaner came from the same family (Alto) & is similar in some ways like the solid/heavy construction, well made, looks like it will last a long time. Unfortunately the Alto pistons became a little corroded & the seals started to wear (6 yrs of constant use) causing it to leak water & worst of all there's no seal kit available… Read more

anymore rendering my old but still working Alto to the scrap heap - pity.

The Gerni/Nilfisk Super 140.2 Plus is an excellent, well made & solid unit. Do yourself a favour now, get some spare parts for the future before they become extinct & it should last a very long time. All allow pump, induction motor, solid plastics, 10m steel armed hose on an easy to use reel, quick click connect attachments are a breeze to use. I also love how the hose attached to the gun rotates/swivels as you move around so you're not constantly un-kinking the hose - brilliant ! Also love how you can store all your attachment on the machine itself as well as the gun/lance, easy.

My recommendations would be to use a water filter on the inlet side of the machine if using tank water to preserve the pistons & seals from corrosion, otherwise tap water will be fine. This Super Plus model has extra attachments which might come in handy for you like the patio cleaner, auto brush, the very powerful/almost deadly rotary nozel, a useless spray bottle & the auto nozel which I use all the time - it's powerful to do many jobs yet is soft enough on your cars paint. Unit also comes with a wall hanger.

The only thing which annoys the hell out of me is the Tornado nozel which is supposed to vary the spray from wide to narrow like the old Altos did but all it does is vary the pressure from pencil beam @ hi to a wide beam @ low pressure where by it virtually drips out. Useless nozel in my opinion. Relatively quiet & easy to manouvre despite it's weight. One of the best machines on the market for its price. Shop around ! Quality, power, 10M steel armed hose on reel, attachments, 5 yr warranty, easy to use. Tornado nozel is useless

Keeps breaking down – Purchased Gerni for it's supposed rugged build and was best buy at the time. Have used it for patio and driveway cleaning twice - three times per year for past 5+ years. It came with patio cleaner which used to work very well until the lower lance started leaking so I purchased replacement lower section from local service agent. Worked well on… Read more

various nozzles for general cleaning but when patio cleaner was fitted it leaked badly from connection between new lower lance and patio cleaner adaptor.

Spoke with Nilfisk recently who recommended discarding the short patio cleaner adaptor and buying another new latest design long lance which would both: 1. Fix my problem, 2. Provide extra 50mm length extension to lance. I purchased part ex Bunnings stock, it worked for 30 seconds then the whole pump started pulsating and cut out. BTW the new lance is actually 50mm shorter not longer at all.

Finally got unit started again after 15 mins. Suspected patio cleaner blockage so stripped patio cleaner down, washed cleaned and lubricated everything with recommended lanolin spray. Reassembled and started unit with patio cleaner fitted but water now pouring out of the lance handle so I cannot use it at all.

Have always sprayed water inlet with lanolin spray after use to prevent seizure of pump impeller as recommended by service agent. This Gerni was almost a waste of a hard earned $600.

I shall speak to Nilfisk again tomorrow but if they cannot fix it, I will sacrifice it to the Gods of recycling and buy a Karcher which is what I actually intended to buy originally, as friends and family have them and have had excellent service for 10 + years. Hose reel, neat package and was good package price with patio cleaner. Unreliable, keeps cutting out, severe water leaks in handle and lance.

Good unit fantastic after sales service – Excellent after sales service....Does a fantastic Job. Our unit is nearly 2 years old and something went wrong within the handle two days ago (leaking water). I emailed Gerni and after sending a copy of serial no and origional receipt I got an email back saying they have posted another handle. Can't ask for better than that! Does a good job  Show reply

Unreliable – Coming up for 2 years old and purchased to clean up a deck but it does not seem to have the pressure I expected and has broken down three times for a variety of problems - leaking handle and failure to start. No problems with repairs or parts but just not reliable. Am thinking now of replacing with something more reliable but not sure what. Poor pressure and unreliable

I find It does not like to start If the inlet water pressure is too low. I feel this is to protect itself from burning out.

A good unit - so far! – After having a Karcher whitch ended up as a dud read the reviews for Gerni. Good pressure and feels well built considering its made in China. I paid $580 from Junction Tools in Laverton, Vic. This unit can sell close to $700 so be sure to bargain. Storage and hose reel. Instructions are a little brief regarding the full capabilities.

A great little cleaner that does everything around the house' – I nice-looking pressure washer with heaps of power. I have used mine for almost 12 months without fault thus far, apart from 1 oring going on the gun. Rang Gerni & got the number of a local service agent & replaced oring under warranty within 2 minutes. Seemed to have plenty of spares & accessories, so I should expect to have this unit for 10 years plus. reliable, east to use & powerful

Unreliable – I bought it two years ago, used it about a dozen times. Fantastic in the first twelve-eighteen months. Works well on cool days but now it is unreliable on warm/hot days 29 deg plus, cuts out after 10-15 mins use or wont start at all. The Gerni/Nilfisk repair hotline is a waste of time. I took it to All Tools for repair, they reckon that there… Read more

is no fault. It seems to me that these machines either have a very low duty cycle or low electrical thermal overload tolerance. A genuine waste of $650. High pressure, range of head attachments, long hose. Expensive and unreliable only 12 month warranty.
