Don't buy one – I have a 2018 2.4 petrol Steed It's the Biggest box of sh@t. I've owned. They should have painted them all yellow for lemons they are. Do yourself a favour and DON'T buy one!!!!! When the reviews says it's a bit under powered that's an undstatement, you won't pull the skin off a rice pudding. I've spent week on research trying to find a way to… Read more

improve it. The vehicle is so bad people haven't even gone to the trouble to have forums on them. I am posting this so that someone else can avoid the problems I've had.

Best little ute I've had for awhile. I don't have a steed though. I have a V240 4x4 single cab ute 2 – I'm actually trying to find wiring diagrams for my V240 and i can't find anything on it so far. I would like to know how many who have had a bad experience had there's regularly serviced. Because i had the first two services done on mine and thought it was a rip off so i never went back for another service at any mechanics. I haven't done a… Read more

service on it either. I've done 20 straight through drives to townsville which takes 14.5 hours and 3 stops for fuel. The oil filter vibrated loose on my way home on one trip and i drove from rockhampton to childers a 4 hour drive with almost no oil. It ran hot but still going strong after i put oil in it and that was 3 years ago. I have just changed the spark plugs and that's after 7 years of driving and I'm a tradie so i do a fare bit of driving. Getting services done on them might not be the way to keep them running is what I'm thinking either that or i got the only one made properly. I had problems with getting it started once and i had a mechanic tell me it will cost about 2 thousand for a new computer. After a couple frustrating hours i worked it out and all it was, was the battery wasn't earthed and i never had that problem again. I'm looking for wiring diagrams because I'm installing a security system in it because it just might be the last one from the year.

Big Surprise 2017 Steed Diesel – After reading reviews from so called experts I held back on purchasing a Chinese car. After a kangaroo accident I needed another crew cab. 2nd hand was my 1st thought. I couldn't afford even some late model crew cabs even with 150,000 klms. So then I thought I will give Great Wall a go. Now after 2 weeks & 1800 klms I am in love with this car.… Read more

This car cost me $22,000 brand new on the road. It has everything that opens & shuts. The heated seats are the best as I travel early morning when - 0 + is the norm. Motor & gearbox just starting to loosen up. The motor is quite refined as is the whole vehicle. Current fuel use is 8.1 litres per 100. Most of my driving is at 100 + klm roads. The cruise control works well & I haven't had to change down gears to much to keep momentum up decent inclines. I was concerned about power after reading many reviews. I am disappointed that the reports are underrated. Sure you get out of a 180 kw + crew cab that cost $55,000 + you will feel the difference. In everyday use there is enough power to do anything you want. I don't need to tow 3.5 ton so my Steed with 2 ton capacity is well within my requirements. The tray is huge so I can now fit more produce than with my last car. Ride is ok considering leaf spring rear suspension. The car feels very solid with no squeaks' or rattles. I do 36 k`s a day on dirt in & out of our property. Dust sealing is good & far better than my Ford Territory that now sits in garage. The cars sales site show fuel capacity at 58 litres. It actually is 73 litres which gives me a range of 800 + klms. Snob value. Don't worry ok, I have had several people say what a nice looking car this is. My colour is Titanium Grey. Looks great when clean. Seats are very comfortable but as with everything else with a new car give it a couple of weeks to feel at home in it. I can only say my experience to date is positive. They say 1st impressions are lasting so I hope the love continues. Fit & finish are very good. Interior is luxury for a work ute. I must admit I had trouble parking at 1st. This is a lonnnggg crew cab so a little care is required at 1st. I will endeavour to update in the near future. My last words for today : Don't be scared to buy a Great Wall Steed. It will be a positive experience as it has been for me. In parking lot yesterday I parked beside a ford Ranger Hi Rider 2.2 litre. Nice car but it cost more than double for what I paid & nowhere do you get double value. No way. Snob value doesn't work for me Never has & never will. Don't hesitate if you think you want one. Just do it. * Update : 1st service booked. Fixed cost $250.00. Service book states that gear box oil needs to be changed every service. Seems a bit over the top. I will investigate this asap. Tow bar on its way. Will test horse float when done & note my experience here. Update: Tow bar now fitted. Very easy to do yourself as all holes are drilled & I ordered ECU box so I did all electrics myself. Just did 5000 k oil change myself Motor reves out very easy now. I used 5-30 full synthetic oil. Oil filter is a total pain so didn't change it this time. I will work out how to remove before 15000 service. Ok towing. Tows horse float without any problem & water cart which is 1400 kgs when full. Totally tows with ease. Will need to get electric brake controller fitted though. I am very impressed with the dust sealing. Very dry out here & I drive on dirt dust road everyday. No dust intrusion whatsoever. Again I can only say I am totally impressed with this car. It does everything with ease & fuel is now showing over 885 to empty. If I lived in the city I may have a different opinion but because my 1000 + klms a week are rural the 6 speed manual is totally acceptable. 110 klms shows rev counter at 2100 rpm. I replaced wiper blades at a cost of $80 so they are now perfect. Had windows tinted last week. Looks great. My next item will be a nudge bar to accommodate my driving lights. So many roo`s at the moment I need better lighting to leave early. Will update again when I have something worth while to say.

Update : September 1. 10,000 klms already. No issues what so ever. No rattles, squeaks & still dust tight. Just fitted roof racks from Aldi. $79.00. They are every bit as good as dealer option at nearly $400.00. Will do 15000 k service my self, I have gearbox oil ready to go. Motor running very smoothly with average fuel consumption showing 8.1 litres per hundred. I would like to mention the tyres. They are very good on dirt & in the wet. Low noise & still look new. Heated seats still very much appreciated. - 5 going to work yesterday. Car stayed iced up for 110 klms. Heated mirrors work a treat. Just purchased a pair of canvas seat covers. Again from Aldi. Outrageous good value. Will update how they fit & feel when I put them on. 15000 KLM update : Everything still good. No rattles, dust sealing still good. Motor is really loose now with more power. Have changed gearbox oil as recommended in service book. Don't think I will be doing this every time I change oil. Now listening to CD`s . Impressive sound from such a low priced car. Easy operation with all controls on steering wheel. Have used air cond a few days last week as its starting to warm up out here. Very good & no noticeable change in power. My old ute died when you turned on a/c. I have been trying to find some faults but honestly I cant. I am still very impressed with my Great Wall Steed. As a side note my last new Ford had 12 defects for dealer attention on its 1st service. I had a bad rattle in drivers door & was told by service manager that this wasn't a warranty item. Sounds like nonsense to me. Never would I consider buying a blue oval badged car again never. As a point to point car this is very good. Loves to cruise at high speed. Cruise control is very good. Average fuel use is still 8.1 litres per 100 klms. Towing horse float this increased to 9.4 litres per 100 klms. ** Update ** I installed a power chip 2000 klm ago. I just couldn't help myself after thinking I wouldn't do this. Well let me say that this has made a big difference in power & torque. No need to change gears up hills. Fuel consumption has dropped from 8.1 litres per hundred to 7.5 litres per hundred. I have only gone to 1st available setting. This chip came from Germany with very good reviews & at $169.00 delivered in my opinion is outstanding price for results. No issues what so ever just a better driving experience. Instructions say a 30% increase in torque & I can confirm this sounds right. After much research the chip I used has been installed in over 40,000 trucks & cars without any negative side effects. Whilst I haven't towed since fitting the chip a feel that this will only enhance the ability to tow. I read that the standard diesel Steed has had its towing capacity increased in the UK to 2.5 ton. The factory for what ever reason has underrated the towing capacity in Australia. My car before I fitted the chip towed 1.4/5 ton water cart & horse float without any problems at all. This can only be better with 30% more torque. I will add to this if I find any issues arise. Also no change in coolant temperature. 20,000 KLM update : All good as above. No dust no rattles. Takes long distance hi speed touring easily. Current average fuel consumption 7.8 litres per 100 klms. ** Update : 980 klm round trip to Sydney achieved 7.2 litres per hundred klm. Outstanding as I don't drive for economy if you know what mean. Absolute pleasure to drive .Automatic dimming rear vision mirror works well. My last car with this feature cost over $60 k & didn't work as well. The rain sending wipers work ok but I still prefer to select my variable rate wiper speed. 30,000 Update: Every thing still good. Have fitted nudge bar & 7" driving lights. Looks great but haven't connected lights yet. My only problem so far is the hold down brackets in tray worked loose. All nipped up with a dab of Lock Tight. This solved the problem. Tyres are wearing ok. On current looks I think 60/70 thousand will be achievable. Will update at 45 klm service. We do all our own service & to date i have no warranty issues at all. Impressive. I give drivers seat a workout daily & this pleather material (pretend leather ) is very impressive. No wear marks what so ever. I think it will be very durable. I threw canvas seat covers in a box in the shed. No need for them. Have been running car fridge off car battery for hours with no problems. Maybe will get dual battery set up. Air conditioner is very effective. 42 deg here yesterday. Also i can state that the radio reception is very good even way out west & Bluetooth streaming is excellent. I listen to Sydney radio as if i was in Sydney. It is good to know that the car is tough, very tough & when they say built for work this is a very accurate statement. Well done Great Wall. Towing Update Dec 2018 : Now have 1000 litre IBC pod in rear tray. This fits well & when full weighs 1035 kilograms. I can report that after several trips with pod full & towing another full pod this car does it easy. Corners needs to be taken with care as these pods when full cause movement as they have no baffles internal. Take off on hill with full load needs consideration but the motor and gearbox can handle it. Again I am impressed. Your never get these reports with car reviews. They are always power/brand snobs as I read a lot of these. I can assure anyone who may be interested that the Great Wall will do what utes that cost 3 times the price will do in most situations. I don't need to tow 3.5 ton & I don't know anyone who does with a ute. 36,000 Klm update. Still doing what its designed to do, work hard every day. Every day used to carry 1000 litre water pod. Not doing big k`s at the moment but that will change shortly. Windscreen now has large crack but not effecting my line of site yet. Will be replaced when need to. Heated seats will get a work out soon as its starting to get cold. 50,000 klm update: Everything still good with no problems whatso ever. I have replaced the tyres with AT`s . To make a more comfortable ride I have set my cold pressure at 34 psi. This way they get up to 36 psi in a short time. Makes a far better ride. I have also fitted a blanking plate . The difference low down is amazing. No change in temperature but have noticed a very small increase in fuel use. I average 7.5 litres per 100 klm. Very good economy. The blanking plate directs more exhaust to turbo hence the enhanced drivability. The original plate is purely there as a anti pollution device. Still no rattles & dust sealing still excellent. I can report that this ute gets worked hard & is totally up to the job. Over a year old now with not 1 warranty issue. I do all my own service & oil filters @ $3.00 each on eBay make it affordable. Heated seats in use most of the time as its very cold here. Comment : September 2019. I have just read a review of Great wall Steed 2019 on Carsales site. 1 word describes this review "CRAP " What qualifications do you need to review a car. I will tell you. You need to drive the car & use it for its designed use for a period of time to fully understand it. Then maybe you can pass judgement & give a subjective review. Don't give a review after 3 hour drive the publish with many mistakes. Oct 2019 Update : Just clicked over 60,000 klm`s. Still 100% reliable, no warranty issues, no rattles & yes worked hard every day. Fuel economy still 7.6 liters per hundred. Only complaint at this time is windscreen washer bottle has very small opening making it a pain to fill. Cant be to bad when that's my only complaint. Yeah as Toyota say " I am still feeling it " . Replaced gear box oil at 61,000 klm. Very smooth gear change. I don't do this every 15000 as per book but every 30,000 . December 2019 Update : Oil change at 65,000 klm. Will do 10 k oil changes during hot summer. Absolutely no problems, rattles, dust intrusion whatso ever. I am still very impressed with the Steed. Most travel is high speed country use. 6 speed manual is smooth operator. Seats are as good as new, no wear marks. Pleater is the way to go after having many cars with leather that marks easily. Seats are firm but I get out after 360 k trip without pain. No complaints here. Air Cond very good. No power loss & coooold if you like that way as I do. The Steed is an attractive car. I parked next to a new Triton last week. What were they thinking when they put new grill/bumper on. It looks crook, really crook. Maybe that's why I haven't seen many around here. My area of use is mostly crew cab work Utes. Lots of Toyotas, Nissans, VW`s, LDV`s, Holden Collys, older Tritons Feb 2020 update : 75,000 trouble free klm now completed. Will do timing belt & serpentine belt in a couple of weeks. Great Wall recommend that timing belt in diesel be changed at 75,000 klm so I will do. Car being worked hard every day carting water due to drought. Just fitted new tires. I upped the size to 245/70/16 in lieu of 235/70/16. Looks better but throws computer out some what. I will review new tires soon but I am already very happy with them. Still no rattles & dust free. Extreme heat last few weeks with 47 deg showing on screen. With air going & cruising at 110 up the Newell Hwy no overheating problems at all. Air Cond is very effective in all conditions. March 2020 Update : Timing & serpentine belts replaced at 75,000. Both belts /kit cost me a whole $104.00 delivered & local mechanic shop fitted for $220.00. WOW Our Outback timing belt change by dealer was quoted at $1700 + oil change nearly $2000.00. So now have new windscreen fitted also. So washed & polished car is new again. This week we have our 1st problem. Rear top heater hose has small split . This is a plastic fitting & could have been better designed. Now the good bit. As I am a long way away from dealer they have agreed through their Wagga dealer to send me the upgrade hose at no charge even though this isn't a warranty claim. Well I very much appreciate their prompt efficient service. So I can continue to say that I have had no warranty claims with my Steed after 78,000 hard working Klms. I have also fitted a Tourneau Cover I purchased off eBay. $138.00 delivered. Looks fantastic & fitting only took around 1 1/2 hours. I also changed my pollen filter. OMG the filter was packed with red dust. I will now change regularly as they only cost $25.00 delivered off eBay. So again, this GW Steed is 1 awesome work vehicle. For the cost of Ceramic Brakes upgrade option on a BMW you can have a Great Wall instead. This review is 100% accurate & I havnt nor would I accept any incentive to write any thing other than my experience . One last thing for this update. You may recall I fitted a Power Chip as noted above. Well I have been very bad & moved the pin to no 3 setting. All I need now are some racing stripes & number & off I go. :) . November 2020 Update: Will do 100,000 service this week. Only small problem so far was sorted by Great Wall very quickly. Centre Diff bearing started grinding noise. even though it was still working Great Wall replaced under warranty. Everything else is as good as new. Still getting around 7.5 ltrs per 100 klm. This is proving to be a very durable work car. Pleater ( seat cover ) still pretty well as new with no sign of wear. Overall a joy to drive. As previously noted i can recommend Great Wall Steed to anyone who cares to listen. Still towing water trailer 1450 kg & horse float with 2 x water pods without any problems. 2021 Feb update: 110000 klm and everything is still good. Just changed oil with full synthetic as noted in service book. Current average fuel figures are 7.6 litre per 100 ks. Awesome figures. This car will start doing 1300 klm per week from 1st week March. This will end in December this year. For no good reason i am considering suspension upgrade to Bilstein Shocks. They are expensive but very good for long distance travel comfort. I will wind front up 30mm via torsion bar adjustment soon also. I have noticed a lot of Steeds out in Central West . Good to see other are enjoying the benefits of these solid durable work units. I still have 100 kilo ballast in tray to improve ride quality. I have fitted a power chip as previously noted here but am considering a trade control unit. I need to find out if i can have both without detriment to durability. Car is still dust proof & solid. No rattles whatso ever. Rats chewed water bottle so i purchased a cheap replacement kit in eBay. Works perfectly. Will update when i do timing belt. I will also change water pump at 150000 for good measure. 130000 Update Everything still good within no issues what so ever. I have ordered 2 new Bilstein front shock absorbers for no particular reason. As i own the car i will do little things that may enhance my drive experience. Nothing really wrong with factory shocks apart from the fact that i drive dirt & bumpy roads daily. On smooth surface they work as intended. Car is still rattle & dust free. As noted above i drive & use the Ute daily in harsh wet , bumpy , dusty, hot, cold conditions. I think a new GWM Cannon would be nice buy i would need a good reason to upgrade . I don't have a good reason yet. The Steed is overall outstanding in all respects. It feels as though it will go forever. I do all service on farm apart from timing belt which is done by local mechanic. I buy parts on eBay $99 for full kit including delivery. Pleather seats look as good as the day i took delivery. Nothing wrong with pretend leather. Seat heating is the best invention as i use daily . No need to have car heater on when your bum & back are so warmmmmm. I speak to a lot of tradies in my job. Unfortunately not all have had a good experience with their chosen work Utes. Two in particular with LDV & Ford Ranger. You can only believe what people tell you & i feel so fortunate that i bought a work Ute at $22,000 that has performed so well with total reliability. I bought new battery last year but its still in the shed as the original still performs as intended. Next update will be 150000 when timing belt is changed. Update: I have put new shocks on front & back. Makes a huge improvement. Ride is improved totally. Just fitted Hankook Dynapro AT 2. Very comfortable with new shocks. Still 100% reliable. Nearly 140,000 k`s on clock. August 2022 Update : Car now showing 185,000 klm. Still doing what it was designed for. Hard work with big klm. A mouse recently took a liking to my car also. Thankfully it is very easy to open fan behind glove box. Replace front & rear disc pads last week. 185,000 not bad. We change ourselves as this is very easy on this car. I will by a new clutch kit to have on hand for when i need a new one. Good price on eBay. Doing over 1000 klm a week with 7.6 litre average fuel. I do more than 60 klm on dirt daily weather permitting. Still nothing has fallen off with no rattles. Vey impressive for $22,000 car 5 years old. Still has original battery. Pleather seats show no sign of wear. Paint still in great condition. Car isn't garaged & only polished once. It gets washed when it rains. No point as i am on dirt road daily. Replace broken rear tail light due to someone backing into me. New unit cost $125.00 delivered with all required globes. How good is that. Vey easy to replace.

Great Wall V240 – Brought my Great Wall 6 years ago as a Demo. Wanted a ute to cart hay and firewood as we live on a small farm. Looked at different single cabs but could not afford the main stream cars so I could get brand new for the price. a Hilux or Ranger second hand with A 100,000 plus kms was well over $25000. So after researching and talking to real owners… Read more

of Great Walls ,I brought one for $14990 with 3 year warranty. Remember it was a Demo with just on 2000 kms on the clock with bull bar and tow bar fitted .That was 6 years ago and 100000 kms. No issues just normal service work done. We live down a nasty dirt road and cross a creek to get to our farmers , Nothing has ever fell off or broken . It does what I want. There are just as many horror stories out there about brand new utes costing 3 or 4 times as much. One of the ladies I work with have a brand new Japanese brand and it has been back to the dealer 6 times in 8 months to have stuff fixed , I just laugh and comment that my Chinese ute costing $15000 keeps on going with no issues.

Great affordable ute – Being only a 2.2 litre engine it does struggle to go uphill, but once vehicle has been run in and driver is used to driving the Ute it's not bad. I can go up a lot of steep hills in 3rd gear. Great fuel economy, I have a turbo diesel, about 780km to a tank combined driving(highway and city). Plenty of space in cab. A few minor cosmetic problems… Read more

but easily fixed. Like air vents breaking, cd/radio having a spaz after 120000kms. Good car but will not but another. Hasn't got the grunt/ rowing power.

Great Wall v200....absolute rubbish! – Bought car with 50,000km on the clock. Mostly used for highway driving. Nothing but trouble from the beginning. Terrible turbo lag from day one. Melted fuse box and wiring at 60,000km, glow plugs needed complete rewiring, clutch replacement at 75,000km, turbo failure at 100,000km, radiator fan wiring melted, random heating problems that can't be… Read more

identified, random severe loss of power but no faults codes recorded, coolant leaks at random that can't seem to be found, multiple aircon failures, synchro gone on 3rd gear and the list goes on. Worth nothing as a trade in and no resale value. Once you buy one you're either stuck with it, or be prepared to take a huge loss. DO NOT BUY A GREAT WALL.

The worse car I have ever bought in over 40 years of driving – In just 5 years its been towed 5 times. The dealership is the worse I have ever experienced, customer service NON EXISTENCE, they lied about a free loan car, mechanics at Phoenix and Paceway admitted it is difficult to obtain Technical information from China. Now it won't start, Autostrada very arrogant, they said I should just scrap it, sell as… Read more

wrecking, but no one can get it started. no body wants it, spent over $3,000. and still won't start. Gone from $27,990 to ZERO in 5 years. Worse investment ever! Notice how they keep changing the name, From Great Wall, to Steed, to Havel, and now LDV. STILL THE SAME VEHICLE. Stay Well Away!

Stay away - do not move your wallet towards this ute under any circumstance! – The turbo takes forever to kick in and makes for a very bad driving experience. We bought our ute and had a tonneau and tie downs installed prior to picking it up. Within 4 months the tie down straps had worn away the paint down to the metalwork so we took it back to be fixed. It was fixed by painting the ute back section in a colour different… Read more

to the cab (a few shades lighter) and the new straps had sticky tape underneath them to limit further wear and tear, very unprofessional we thought. At the same time the jack needed to be replaced as it had lost all its oil...over the carpet in the back foot-well. They replaced the jack with an equally worthless piece of rubbish but didn't replace the carpet. The radio died within 2 years.

It then started to lose power, around 25% and as a farm vehicle this was important to fix. At the same time it also started to lose brakes. If you used then more than once in a row, like backing up into a parking bay or coming to stop at traffic lights. The engine light would come on at the same time so we had it checked out. The brakes were due to a turbo compressor and we were informed that this would also fix the 25% loss in power. It was replaced ($1,500 later) and then we were informed the turbo itself was the issue with the loss of power as the solenoid is locked in a sleeve and can't be fixed so the turbo needs replacing. We have been quotes $4,600 fitted. For a ute that is less than 5 years old this thing is the biggest load of garbage we have ever come across. Others have had the same issue with the brakes not working yet they won't do a recall on this extremely dangerous situation.

Stay away from Great Wall, even if you buy a second hand ute (other than Great Wall) you will come out miles ahead both satisfaction and money wise.

I'm glad everyone hates them ,second hand they are a bargain, I just use it spend nothing on it, I only change the oil at about 25,000klm ,and put fuel in it . nothing else , I would have lost the 6.5k's the first day had I purchased another new ute .No mate the sums add up for me I will walk away happy if my GW dies today, but I'm sure I will sell it for about $4grand or wreck it that would mean a loss of about $3grand for nearly 100,000klms. I would say " If you haven't owned one your paying the price"

V240 – Brought new in 2009 to replace clapped out hiace van, no problems until 30000 km when needed new front brake pads which I replaced with the larger holden rodeo ones but still fit great wall brake caliper. Needed new clutch at 79000 again replaced with heavy duty Toyota hilux diesel clutch. New tyres at 83000km. Had head gasket problem at 170000km… Read more

and have not had problem since. Everything underneath still dry and working. Now done 218000km. Think the axle has slight whine now. This vehicle was brought to work and work it has done, with regular 1000kg weight loads, pulling 2000kg trailer, driving to and from work, even take on holidays and do offroad with it as it has never let me down, always starts and stops and only gets bogged in real heavy conditions does lack a little in the power side but you learn to drive accordingly and use engine revs. Also change engine oil and filter every 5000km as filter is only $3.90. No it is not one of the big name utes but it is half the price so if you don't want to spend in excess of $50000 then this is a great ute. The new diesel can be chipped to give extra power as well.

Not good – I don't expect my Great Wall to be a Range Rover or a Land Cruiser. I would hope that generally it will run ok and if it's serviced regularly, about the most that could go wrong are little things, fair enough? WRONG, my Great Wall has been serviced regularly but apart from the engine, its crap. (the engine is from a Mitsubishi) problems so far? … Read more

continuous electrical problems, door handle/tail gate handles breaking off, gear box problems, constant coolant leaks and just today, the diff has blown up! kaboom on the highway doing 100klm. btw, the door handles/inner cables are way expensive to fix, try $180 just for the tailgate handle and its plastic... avoid them, warning Dr Smith, warning!....

I wanted to give you an update, as of 8 June 2017. We finally got diff replaced, had lots of trouble finding one. Now more problems, the drivers side electric window is broken (again) the Air bag light on the dash keeps coming on at odd intervals and it keeps giving bizarre light combinations on the dash. This thing has never been offroad. Also, the clutch is making weird sounds and gear change is becoming harder.... avoid the Great Wall.

The painting of the car – Painting of the car is far below standard, I have a 2011 v200 and the paint is faded I do like the car but the paint let it down. I brought the car from a dealership in Essendon, they have since closed doen and I then travelled to Preston. However, because I didnt buy the car from that particular dealership, they wanted nothing to do with it. … Read more

Overall, I like the car, however the paint and how the company handled the situation let me down...

am not shy to take on cars that people keep away from. And keep away too so they stay cheap.

Its feb 2017 and surprise, surprise nothing to report. Ute still drives great and still getting great km around 700km to the tank and thats with all my tools in it for work. The only thing that has gone wrong is i got a hole in readator.

Very capable ute – Brought second hand, did a trip from Blue Mointains NSW to Fraser Island and it performed brilliantly, no mods just stock, others were shocked at how well it performed. You get used to the turbo lag and adjust your driving to suit, only thing is gearbox not much chop but you get what you pay for. For the price I would recommend getting one.  Show details

Wasn't too bad. Better get more advice l think. Sounds like everyone having trouble with TURBO LAG easy to fix get acceleration booster off e bay $300 problem gone. Run with chip even better.  Show details

Value for money – Rough ride on our roads when empty, turning circle extremely ordinary, petrol filler slow. Otherwise had her for 5 years but have spent around $200 on parts. about to buy 2nd hand, so glad I didn't. In another 5 years I could drive it to Sims as scrap & still be well in front.

December 24th 2018 Update: No surprises.

Seriously what I paid for this vehicle value for money is an understatement. It has taken me a while to run up 100,00klm. But have done it on the original Kumho Tyres ( Road Venturer ) Also the original Battery ( Varta ).

As stated on earlier post $17,990 drive away, Power steering, mirrors, windows, cental locking, air conditioning and mag wheels. For that I could have got a second hand vehicle without all the bells and whistles, and paid thousands for repairs etc. Think about it you can pay for a name or a vehicle that offers real value. After all the mud that has been thrown at this badge you can pick one up 2nd hand for peanuts. And I am not letting go of mine any time soon.

P.S. Just about to fit new tyres, they still have a bit of life but they served me well.

Great car so far – So far it has 83000km, it's not the smoothest ride untill there is some weight in the end. Interior in nice, but being a light grey colour isn't practical as a full on work horse, the stereo shroud is 2mm smaller than a standard double din stereo but as an added bonus the interior is identical to the rodeo and its shroud can be used. The only issue I've had is the throttle position sensor is starting to go and will need to be replaced.

All good – I have had a V240 for 5 years now. Fantastic. First expense was new tires at 110000 Km ( newer before have I ever had tires last this long.) Just std service costs ( local shop not dealer ) Nothing spent extra until last service ( drums skimmed) 145000kms now and about to trade on another new one.  Show details

Cheap reliable ride – I own a 2014 diesel Greatwall tdi v200 25,000Ks, I find the handling and driving quite exceptional, road noise is not an issue, interior is quite plain really, no bells and whistles in this ute, leg room is adequate enough front and back, I have taken this off road and found it very stable and power when I needed it, fuel consumption excellent,… Read more

Great wall v200 – Brought it second hand from original owner ,200,000 kms on clock! had to replace alternator,6 speed gear box , clutch , spent $2000 on it. now done 255ks doesn't miss a beat! love it. mind you I only paid $2000 for it. (not a good investment for original buyer ) tows my van no problems. yes it has turbo lag and yes it safer to drive a cardboard box. But it is what it is, A Chinees built vehicle.  Show details

V240 ute 2014 model Review – When I first got the Ute it was a bit sticky on the gear shifting, but after a while 10,000kms it came good ,so I think it just needed to be run in. standed accessory.

The Service costs about the same as my old Car around $250nz per service, it needs a G/W.scan tool so I take it to the dealer for its service, and also if you take it somewhere else it will void its warranty

As for it being a Ute, it can be a bit bumpy on the road so. I have sheep skin Covers on my seats which gives it a comfortable ride, and you don't feel the bumps so much.

It has good passing power when needed ,just put it in 4th gear and it passes slow pokes. .

perfect – I have a v200 2014 diesel, for business use, always runs on the dirty road, no problem at all. Two years all ready, very reliable. To compare what you paid, it is worth to buy. Hope they can do 3ltr Diesel engine in future, more powerful for towing. Very cheap to run, around 7ltrs. The internal materials not very well, still can be improved. Overall, happy have it, worth to buy.  Show details

Great Wall V200 Tdi 4wd, 2012 Duel Cab Diesel – After fitting this chip this car becomes real deal. [link removed] I didn't know which one to choose so I took pick on eBay and ordered this one from Germany for $169 Aussie dollars incl. delivery. ute becomes beauty, different car.

It was awful to drive really not sure how it passed Qa/Qc in fact quiet dangerous to drive with huge lag and low end under powering.

I am not advertising this chip try all others they maybe even better ones there, I'm real happy with this one.

When looking for feedback from others couldn't find any info, so hope this helps.

August 19th 2016 Update: Rolled my V200 4x4 at 100km/hour many times

Recently rolled my v200 at 100/hour rolled sideways many times, no breaks applied

This was real ancap test as it cam get went to work next mornin.I may be lucky but my story is well documented.Worst of all ot was still running,i had to turn it off ot was runnong while upside down.all tyres were shot roof colapsed wish o can show pics.Drove it to Gladstone Sydney trips over 3200km trips back and forth, never let me down. This was probably one of most seriois crash incidents with latest v200 tdi my fault, fell asleep.

It was rock solid truck, mow put to rest at Bundenburg wreckers.

Loved it and couldn't kill it,put 23K kms in 7 months, then rolled 7+ times it was still running.I lived to tell the tale!

Turbo lag fixed – Had my 2013 V200 Great Wall re-mapped and now it goes like a 3ltr turbo not 2 ltr. As far as the revs hanging on between gear changing, I lift my foot completely off the clutch pedal between changes and, no problem. Head room is great as I'm 6/4, rides a bit rough for my liking but hey, we can't have everything.  Show details

Don't buy one – I brought my t/d 4x4 v200 ute brand new in 2012. Problems. 20k new rottas and pads 30k stuck in low 4, new computer 42k turbo hose , 50 k new alternator/ battery 57 k alternator stuffed. This has tried to be fixed 5 times. Yes the ute runs ok for a while. But you will all see in die course. I would never advise any one to buy one of these that are buckets of crap. I was the first person to buy a 2012 v200 t/d 4x4 in wa and the dumbest.

I can not say one good thing about the , yes I can great tray space. That's it. Tyres are crap everything is crap. It does run good for a few weeks then problems. Go buy a hilux. Yes they are more but reliable , so much can not be said for these buckets of crap.

Wonderful vehicle to drive! – I've had the V200 now for nearly 4 years. Aside from the recalls and some warranty work the ute has been a great buy from new. All was going splendidly until I completely lost 5th gear! A surclip broke holding things together. Of course the gearbox had to be dismantled and problem fixed. At the same time the mechanic discovered the clutch needed… Read more

replacing. $$$$ later and I was back on the road. The surclip was replaced with that from a Landcruiser; the gearbox is a replica of the same. It goes to show you that this vehicle is very much a hybrid of mechanics replicated or otherwise. The gearbox issue wasn't appreciated but since then I've found the ute an even better drive than before, particularly after having new tyres fitted. It's done over 130,000kms and going strong. 4 trips from the Blue Mountains NSW to Melbourne no problems at all and 120km round trips to work every day. Like others, I've learnt to live with the turbo lag and adjust. I changed the CD/Radio. Paintwork not fantastic on the exterior plastics but who cares!

This are 4x4 that would be good with a few changes – As a owner of a v200 td performance isn't to bad mine has a bit of turbo lag but I am working on that Handling is as good as any 4x4 in its class seats are a bit of a let down leather tears from the air holes if they had the seats out of the x240 wagon trouble would be gone plenty of leg room front and back also if they had charging points in the… Read more
