Happiest Baby Snoo Smart Sleeper

I am extremely disappointed with Happiest Baby. The SNOO app, now branded as a “premium” service, was supposed to support a product we’ve already paid a fortune for—but now they’re charging extra for something that should be included. This feels like a blatant cash grab. The SNOO itself is great, but this move shows a complete disregard for loyal customers. Until Happiest Baby stops nickel-and-diming families, I cannot recommend them. Show details
Soothes our baby to sleep and helps through nighttime wake ups. A great addition to our newborn life. Purchased ours second hand and pay the premium subscription (which I understand is included for brand new purchases), though I believe it can be used without the Subscription. Show details
I’m deeply disappointed with the SNOO Smart Sleeper Bassinet, which frequently shuts off unexpectedly during use, disrupting my infant’s sleep and posing potential safety concerns. Within minutes of starting (1–40 minutes), the SNOO stops rocking, enters standby mode, and sometimes shows a false "clips not engaged" message despite secure clips.… Read more
This happens near-nightly, with some users reporting 12 shutoffs in 17 nights. Restarting helps temporarily, but the issue recurs, causing sleep deprivation, stress, and, in my case, worsening postpartum recovery. Happiest Baby’s customer service provided only basic troubleshooting (e.g., cleaning clips, unplugging), which didn’t fix the problem. They acknowledge this as a “known” issue but offer replacements only for in-warranty units, leaving out-of-warranty users like me without solutions. Reddit’s r/SnooLife shows dozens of identical complaints, pointing to faulty clip sensor wiring or design flaws, with some resorting to unsafe workarounds or third-party repair kits (SnoozyMama). For a $1,695 FDA-approved product marketed for reliability, this is unacceptable. The SNOO’s widespread malfunctions and Happiest Baby’s inadequate response demand an FDA investigation into its safety and quality. Avoid this product until these issues are addressed.
Love this for our newborn . And has saved my sanity a few times . The product does soothe the baby very well . I have had to learn to trust the process . I like the app that tracks the sleep and it’s great because I’m able to see when I put her down and I am able to work out a pattern . The suits are great and make the baby feel secure . I… Read more
do like the option to open up the arms . Although I do find the buttons a bit awkward.
The fabric does get dirty easily and it’s a task to take it apart .
Product doesnt work and world of pain when returning – Product doesnt work and made my baby very uncomfortable. Do not trust their 30 day "risk free trial", taking weeks to get this returned and still in the progress of doing so. Their support is hopeless and unable to get anything right.
Premium scam – I don't recommend this after they introduced a premium subscription. We bought one but ended up having a good sleeper. She sleeps with the snoo off so I suggest you save your money. Show details
Cold, sterile, uncomfortable bassinet. overpriced – Now requires a premium subscription to access any of the snoo's functions. The only point in getting a fancy bassinet worth almost $2000 is that it comes with additional functions. Now they make you pay an extra $35 a month to access these. Without it, it's a very unappealing standard bassinet. Feels cold and sterile, VERY thin uncomfortable… Read more
mattress, the official snoo sheets don't fit well and are a nightmare to put on. It's the opposite of cozy. Entirely unaffordable for most people. Disappointing.
New paywall prevents access to features that were free – Initially enjoyed using it for the last few months. But since the last update they've introduced a subscription fee to use even the most basic features for white noise and motion control. The product alone costs a lot and then they slap you with monthly fees of up to $16 a month just to use features that shouldve come standars. I just want what I paid for. Show details
Now being charged $30/m to access settings – I can’t even begin to describe the outrage being forced upon snoo users to pay for features of using a snoo that were advertised at time of purchase!! Fare enough to charge for using additional features like the feeding and nappy tracking etc, but for controls/settings of the snoo like weaning mode!! What a disgrace! We have had our snoo for 4… Read more
years & are just using it with #2 child & opened the app today to be informed we need to upgrade to use the controls such as weaning mode, which we leave on permanently. I have always recommended to people how amazing the snoo is, well that stops today. No one in their right mind is going to buy a bassinet that you then have to pay a monthly premium subscription just to operate the controls! To say that you have given users 8 years of free access to the premium subscription is a crock! There was no such thing as premium subscription 8 years ago. There was just an app that allowed you to control the features of the snoo, as there should be… for free!
I hope the ACCC will investigate this company, particularly concerning misleading conduct and consumer guarantees. Happiest Baby have effectively sold a product at a premium price, then in effective removed functionality as originally described in post sale.
Shame on you happiest baby
Cash grabbing company – You now have to pay for a subscription to use all the features on this very expensive product. Show details
Saved my sleep! – Love it. We bought one over 2 years ago for my first born. She was a terrible sleeper but the snoo was a saviour. It was easy to transition her to a cot as well with the wean mode. We sold it once she transitioned to a cot. Since then we have purchased 2 more (twins) and have put them in since day 1. Now 2 months in they are only waking once during the night. Absolutely worth it.
Love it! – Absolutely love our Snoo. We were hesitant to spend the $ for this, but ended up getting one second hand and it's amazing.
Godsend, my baby sleeps beautifully! – My baby uses this for his nighttime sleeps, and he is a brilliant sleeper sleeping 6-8 hours from 4 weeks. Pros: Less reliance on parents to comfort when settling for sleep Motion supports longer sleep to support wakings and small disturbances Safety with clips on swaddle to prevent rollover and SIDS Beautifully designed, looks lovely and good… Read more

Cons: Cost of bassinet is very expensive Must use compatible bedding as unique size and shape, can be expensive and only available from online retailers
Great idea, execution needs work but overall worthwhile – We purchased the Snoo second hand from a family that had used it for 4 months. The recommended/suggested use is until baby is about 6 months of age. We have, in turn, used the Snoo daily for 4 months and have just successfully transitioned our baby to a cot. In a nutshell, I think the Snoo did help our baby (and me) sleep more, although this is… Read more
my first baby so I don't have a point of reference for what newborn life is like without one. There were definitely times that the Snoo soothed her back to sleep without me having to actively do anything. I also suspect it helped us gradually teach her how to fall asleep independently. She is now, at 4 months, falling asleep on her own in her cot. We didn't actually use the weaning function, just switched straight to the cot with white noise and she was fine.
Would I use it again? Yes, definitely. However, the cons:
1. The app is the worst. I hated it so much. A bassinet, however 'smart', should have buttons, not an app. The app was perpetually failing to connect, and more importantly, when it's 2am and the baby is crying and I want to adjust what level the Snoo is at, I want to reach over and push a button, not find my phone, unlock it, open the app, wait for it to connect (if it connects at all), then adjust the level. Just put (more) buttons on the machine and save the app for tracking and adjusting settings. [The only button on the Snoo currently is on/off].
2. For a product that costs close to $2,000AUD new, the quality is poor. After we had been using it about 2 months (so about 6 months' use total) it developed a clicking sound from the rocking mechanism. At first it was only occasional; now, after an additional 2 months' use, it's pretty constant. This seems to be a reasonably common problem because I can see Youtube videos on how to fix it, but it seems like it has to be a DIY job, there's no servicing available (that I know of) from the company. But more to the point, I can't believe that a product this expensive starts breaking so quickly and within the period of recommended use for ONE baby. And you don't buy a product like this intending to use it for just one baby! So just check for that if you are getting it second hand. Luckily, baby didn't seem to care about the clicking, but I sure did when it was going on right next to my bed.
3. The sensitivity settings seemed to be pretty random at times. Sometimes the baby would be crying and the Snoo did nothing. Other times she'd grumble a little as she was dozing off and it would increase the level and actually disturb the baby. Super annoying.
4. The Snoo sheets sold by Happiest Baby don't seem to fit right - the thin foam mattress is pulled up by the sheet. Given the price, I'd expect better.
Some final thoughts (not exactly 'cons', more things to be aware of):
5. The Snoo sacks are a pain to get onto the hooks. It's not too bad once you get the hang of it, but it is a pain. They also take ages to dry because the fabric is so thick where the wings are.
6. Travel - we packed the Snoo into the car to drive to another city for a long weekend. We have a big car so it was fine, but it is bulky and heavy. And then we had to leave it behind when we flew to visit family for a week. That week was pretty bad but I'm not sure if that was because of the lack of Snoo, the new environment, the time difference, or all three.
7. If you will be room sharing with baby, you will still be woken up a lot, even if the Snoo successfully soothes the baby without you doing anything. Both the baby and the Snoo doing its thing will wake you up.
We are definitely going to use the Snoo again for any future babies. However, I'm looking forward to seeing version 2.0 of the Snoo that fixes some of the obvious problems and hopefully either improves quality, or decreases price (or both). At the moment, although I think what we paid was 'worth it' because sleep is priceless when you have a newborn baby, I don't think the price is value for money given the quality of the product.
