Hayman Reese Hitch Step

Poor design – As the other reviewers have stated, these are a terrible design! I suggest you don’t buy one of these if you intend to tow anything - unless you’re prepared to spend 15 minutes removing it from the hitch every time you do, and another 15 minutes to re-mount it. If you don’t remove it when towing, the hitch step will almost certainly be destroyed when manoeuvring.
If you’re considering the model with LED reversing lights, check the wiring to your trailer socket. Does your trailer have reverse lights? If not, chances are you’ll need to run an extra wire to the socket for the LEDs on the hitch step to work (a reverse feed is not typically run to trailer sockets).
There are warnings about the above issues in the fine print on the box but if you purchase online (as I did) you probably won’t be made aware of these issues.
Purchased in for $125.
Stupid invention – Forget it, you can not leave this on when towing most trailers, first time you turn with most standard trailer hitches it breaks the step off. Silly design, don't bother. Not sure what trailer wouldn't break this off but all 3 trailers I have are not suitable.
Purchased in for $90.
Great idea but be careful when towing.. Mine broke on first tow – I was excited to fit the Hayman Reese hitch step to my tow bar so I could use it to access my trayback ute. It really looked good and was easy to fit. I was impressed with the look of it and it carried my weight well and did the job...UNTIL I towed my boat trailer. I didn't think I had done any unusual tight turns but when I got home I noticed the step was broken. It's not a defect of the product as such but it obviously cannot be used when you want to tow something.
It would be impractical to remove the hitch step every time you tow something so I think it has a real design fault.
I can't recommend it if you want to tow. Looked good for a week or so. $90 down the drain.
UPDATE: I still stand by my original review and was very disappointed that the step broke. Whilst I still don't remember doing any tight turns it was the only likely reason that it did fail. If you get one just be extra careful when towing.
