Helga's Pumpkin Seed & Grain

I have eating Helga's pumpkin seed and grain bread and Helga's wholemeal bread for years. I have noticed it is now very dry and falls apart easily. Am I imagining that the slices are smaller? I have changed my brand. Show details
I just purchased a Pumpkin seed and grain loaf from Coles. I've been eating this bread close to 15 years even though it's always more expensive. It's been a really nice bread. However, this 'new and improved' version is really, really bad. It looks like a pale loaf of white bread with a few seeds thrown into it. A slice isn't soft and tastey like… Read more
it used to be, but now it's pretty stiff and it breaks and falls apart if you try to bend it in any fashion. Try to eat a sausage in it and you will end up holding onto the sausage with your fingers with all of the bread in crumbs on your plate. It seems that they've reduced the dough content dramatically and replaced it with whipped air bubbles to take up space. I guess just another stab at increasing profits over quality. Seriously, I understand the costs of running a business, but it's maybe $0.20 worth of dough that they charge $5.00 for. I'll be hitting Brumbys on the way home instead of buying this anymore.
I loved the old version. HOWEVER, this new and improved pumpkin seed bread is very disappointing. Not sustainable for growing children's lunch boxes, falls apart, has hardly any pumpkin seeds, unpleasant texture. Looking for another option. Show details
Follow-up · As a follow up, I will not be buying this new improved version because it is not an improvement it is poor tasting, falls apart and does not provide long lasting energy.
I felt like a grainy bread so I thought I would give Helgas pumpkin seed and grains a try. I made a tuna and salad sandwich with it, and it was just absolutely delicious, great taste and texture. Then I made a ham, cheese and tomato toastie in… Read more
the oven and it was divine.
This bread is really beautiful tasting, delicious, and super soft.
I can highly recommend Helgas pumpkin seed and grains.
Follow-up · Helgas pumpkin seed and grains stayed fresh for a few days and then I stored the remainder in the freezer. The crust was really nice. I made toast with it, topped with an egg omelette, it was absolutely delicious.
I am absolutely so disappointed as I have loved this bread for years until today, usually full of seeds and goodness, it’s like they’re on rations now. It is actually mentioned on the wrapper “ new & improved”. May as well call it Tip Top 9 grain - 6. I only wish I had the original bread for comparison but I didn’t know it was going to change. :( Show details
